“WearingamotorcycleairbagjacketorvestalongwithaDepartment ofTransportationapprovedhelmetcanpotentiallyeliminateinjuriesor evendeath,” saidDaveBrandt,theDepartmentoftheAir Force, motorcyclesafetyprogrammanager.“Havingarider’smentalityandpracticingeverytimeyouridecanhelpbuildridingskillsforwhenyouneed them–andyouwilldefinitelyneedthemifyoucontinuetoride.”

KirtlandAir ForceBasewillbethefirstbasetoreceivemotorcycle airbagveststoutilizeduring classesanddemonstratehowtheycan helpreduceormitigatebluntforcetrauma. Justlikeairbagsinavehicle, motorcycleairbagshavebeenproventosavelivesandhelpkeep motorcycleridersfromseriousinjuriesordeathbyusingavarietyof on-boardairbagsthatdetectacrashinrealtimeoratetheredsystem thatdeploysaftertheriderhasfallenoffamovingmotorcycle.
