Sailors assigned to the USS Jack H Lucas (DDG 125) stand in formation during the commissioning ceremony for the destroyer in Tampa, Florida, Oct. 7. The USS Jack H Lucas is named after U.S. Marine Corps Pfc. Jack Lucas who earned the Medal of Honor for his heroism at Iwo Jima during World War II. The ship is the U.S. Navy’s first Flight III Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer. Speakers at the commissioning ceremony included Adm. Daryl Caudle, commander of U.S. Fleet Forces Command, and U.S. Marine Corps Sgt. Maj. Carlos Ruiz, the 20th Sergeant Major of the Marine Corps.
