EDMONTON EXPO CENTRE WAYFINDING

The emphasis on dynamic appeal was achieved through innovative design elements that caught the eye and communicated information efficiently. I incorporated vibrant colors, engaging graphics, and contemporary typography to ensure that the wayfinding signs stood out amidst the bustling environment of the expo center.

To introduce an element of fun, I leveraged creative concepts and thematic elements that resonated with the nature of events hosted at the Expo Centre. The goal was to make the wayfinding experience enjoyable, turning navigation into a positive and memorable aspect of the visitor’s journey.

EDMONTON EXPO FREESTANDING PROPOSAL Throughout the preparation of the wayfinding package, collaboration with stakeholders and an understanding of the unique characteristics of the Expo Centre were paramount. The final result reflected not only the functional aspects of effective wayfinding but also the incorporation of a dynamic, fun, and inviting visual identity that contributed to the overall ambiance of the venue.

WAYFINDING

This wayfinding proposal for the City of Fernie reflects a commitment to elevating the urban experience. It is more than a navigational tool – it is a testament to the city’s vibrancy, culture, and community spirit.

My role was not just in designing physical signs but in crafting an immersive journey that invites everyone to explore and savor the essence of Fernie.

Is an interactive design feature we came up with to showcase the rich culture and history of Fernie, with this freestanding monument both tourists and locals can picture how a place looks before.

The design allows the Tourism Committee to make use of actual old photographs they have in archives to showcase historical events, buildings, and developments took place over the years.

INTERACTIVE “WINDOW TO THE PAST” FERNIE, BRITISH COLUMBIA

15 Bike Rack: 3 Sister’s Bike Rack This custom bicycle rack not only serves as a functional and secure parking solution but also stands as a symbolic tribute to the grandeur of the 3 Sisters Mountains.

Through meticulous design, sustainable practices, and community involvement, the rack becomes a harmonious extension of the natural landscape, enriching the urban environment with a touch of mountain-inspired elegance.

Illuminating Heritage: 7 Pillars of Fernie In conceiving the design for the perforated pillar, I aimed to encapsulate the rich tapestry of Fernie’s history, culture, values, tourism, heritage, and environment. This pillar is not just a structure; it’s a living tribute to the soul of our city, crafted to unfold its narrative dynamically.

This perforated pillar stands as a symbol of Fernie’s identity, a testament to its vibrant history, diverse culture, and unwavering values. By day, it is a striking sculpture; by night, it transforms into a luminescent storyteller, casting a spellbinding narrative across the cityscape. This design celebrates the past, embraces the present, and lights the way toward a future where FoxCreek’s essence continues to shine.

Making History POP: Edmonton Convention History Wall The Edmonton Chronicles Mural is not merely a decorative element but a living, breathing tribute to the city’s past, present, and future. ATB BANK

The design proposal secured the top position in the ATB Financial “Bank of the Future” design competition during the Fall Semester of 2019. Situated to the south of the Blatchford Community Development, the envisioned project embraced angular and dynamic details to shape its distinctive character. In alignment with the core values and corporate identity of ATB Financial, the project intricately considered both functional aspects and design details to address the specific needs of the users.

29 ATB FINANCIAL “BANK OF THE FUTURE” The design aims to immerse individuals in an authentic ATB Bank experience, extending beyond merely establishing a corporate identity. It delves into the future of banking transactions within the space.

The spatial arrangement facilitates clients to utilize the “express banking station” adjacent to the touchdown area for swift transactions that do not necessitate a teller. A dedicated banking advisor in this zone is available to assist ATB clients as needed.

HERITAGE HALL The concept for the community hall draws inspiration from Heritage Day, an annual celebration observed

by Canadians. Heritage Day festivities provide an opportunity for people to indulge in culinary delights, explore artwork, and gain insights into the diverse multicultural communities thriving in the city of Edmonton.

The primary layout of the main hall offers organizers flexibility to arrange the space as per their event plans. Angular details have been incorporated into the interior to infuse a warm and inviting ambiance.

The assembly hall is designed to showcase a different culture every week.

ISLET LAKE RECREATIONAL CENTRE

This undertaking is the outcome of our collaborative efforts in the Multidisciplinary Design Studio class, where we actively sought input from peers in both the Architectural and Interior Design Programs throughout the planning stages. My research delved into sustainable solutions, site topography, typography, and building codes, factors that can significantly influence the architectural design of the building.

31 Employing a multidisciplinary planning approach, collaboration with Architectural Technology and Interior Design students played a pivotal role in determining the site layout, program specifications, material selection, and the integration of sustainable technologies for this project.

The Islet Lake Recreation Centre project is strategically planned to meet the diverse needs of nature enthusiasts, camps, events, and sporting activities, all conceived within the overarching vision of “Sustainable Humanities.” Situated in the Blackfoot Grazing Reserve, this development aims to harmonize with the natural surroundings. The architectural program is meticulously shaped by a sustainable approach to planning and the environmental characteristics of the site.

The design bid project, submitted to the city government in 2019, was conceived to mirror the culturally rich Islamic heritage of the community and commemorate Philippine Independence Day through symbolic elements incorporated into the design.

GREENVIEW WELCOME SIGN

In early 2020, our company entered into a partnership with another signage company, and I was tasked with the responsibility of creating a design that celebrated nature, indigenous heritage, and the core values of the community for seven distinct community entrances.

Drawing inspiration from the Cree’s Seven Grandfather Teachings, I conceptualized a unique approach where each value was symbolically represented by a different animal. For example, courage was depicted by the powerful and resilient bear, as illustrated in the image below.

WEST EDMONTON MALL Designing the Trouble game piece and Hungry Hungry Hippos for Hasbro Galaxyland in West Edmonton Mall is one of my favorite custom projects. Collaborating with Hasbro on such iconic games presented an exciting opportunity to contribute to the entertainment experience at Galaxyland. The creative process involved bringing a unique and engaging touch to these classic games, tailored specifically for the amusement park setting.
