May

From the General Manager, Mark Krtek

April showers are on their way to bringing May flowers, and with that comes renewed energy throughout the neighborhood. There’s a growing sense of excitement as we begin preparing our pools and amenities for the upcoming season. This spring also marks an important milestone for the Association, as we begin addressing several long-anticipated projects made possible by the strong health of our community.

We are pleased to share that the kitchen expansion and hallway renovation will kick off in May. The expanded kitchen will improve workflow and allow our team to better serve both the Argyle and Terrace. The hallway renovation will extend the look and feel of the main lobby and feature upgraded lighting, enhancing the overall member experience at the clubhouse.

In addition, the tennis courts throughout the neighborhood will undergo resurfacing. This refresh reflects the feedback you shared in the ENVISION Survey and reinforces our commitment to maintaining top-notch amenities. We have also begun the design phase for the Oaks Pool renovation, which will be one of our largest and most impactful projects of the year.

This spring also marks an important milestone for the Association, as we begin addressing several long-anticipated projects made possible by the strong health of our

Finally, we have initiated a new Reserve Study for the Association. This critical process helps ensure we remain prepared for future needs by thoughtfully evaluating both completed and upcoming projects and confirming that reserve funds are appropriately planned and allocated.

Thank you, as always, for your continued support and partnership. Your engagement helps ensure that Lakewood remains a community we can all be proud of—truly second to none.

From the Boardroom

Summer is almost here! By the end of this month, the pools will be open for the season and boats will be cruising the lakes. Please be sure to keep your Lakewood ID with you when using our amenities. Our Community Services routinely check IDs and it is required to enter the pools.

Starting this summer, you will start to see Metro Security in addition to our Community Services team in the late afternoon and evening. While their main focus will be to help ensure staff safety, they will be able to respond to any call that LSPD can respond to. They will also have the ability to detain individuals until LSPD arrives. The presence of armed security will hopefully cut down on individuals trespassing on to common ground. In 2025, Community Services reported close to 700 trespassing occurrences.

In the next few months, you should start to see the tennis court resurfacing project start. The Dobbs System will be installed at each location to improve the surface and keep the courts in good condition for years to come. The pickleball court will be getting a refresh as well.

I would like to take this opportunity to welcome Tony DeMarco, Mike Childs and Jolene Horne to the Board of the Directors, who will be seated at the May board meeting. Thank you for dedicating your time to this rewarding volunteer position.

Starting this summer, you will start to see Metro Security in addition to our Community Services team in the late afternoon and evening.

And last but not least, I’m excited to share a new step forward in keeping our community informed! As a result of the ongoing implementation work of the ENVISION Lakewood program by Staff and the Board, residents will now see a quarterly status update for the first time. This initial update reflects progress from the past two quarters, and moving forward, you can expect consistent quarterly updates in The Ripples. We look forward to keeping you connected and informed every step of the way.
