June

From the General Manager, Mark Krtek

Happy June! With summer now in full swing, our community is coming alive with outdoor activities. I hope everyone is taking full advantage of our pools and enjoying time at our lakes. We continue to partner with SOLitude, our lake management company, along with the Lake Use Committee, to ensure our lakes remain in excellent condition for all residents. As a reminder, our lakes are shared community assets—please be mindful and follow all lake and boating guidelines to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone.

In May, we welcomed three new members to the LHC/LPOA Board of Directors: Tony DeMarco, Mike Childs, and Jolene Horne. We are excited to work alongside them and appreciate their willingness to serve our community. During the same meeting, a new Executive Team was elected. Please join me in congratulating Debbie Stalnaker (President), Jonathan Buschmann (Vice President), Randy Wisthoff (Treasurer), and Diana Ewert (Secretary).

I would also like to extend my sincere gratitude to our outgoing Board members— Kim Curran, Rob Regier, and Andrew Crocker—for their time, dedication, and service to both the LPOA and LHC. On a personal note, I truly appreciate the support each of you provided during my transition into the General Manager role. Your guidance made a meaningful difference.

Please be mindful and follow all lake and boating guidelines to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone.

Regarding the Fourth of July fireworks display, I want to acknowledge the disappoint ment many may feel in learning that we will not be hosting a display this year. Our team explored every possible option over the past several months. However, a combination of factors—including the public actions, demand related to the FIFA World Cup, the United States’ 250th anniversary preparations, and the resulting strain on first responder availability—significantly limited vendor options. We also evaluated alternatives such as a drone show, but the projected cost exceeded $40,000. After careful consideration, this was not a fiscally responsible use of association funds. We will begin planning earlier for next year to explore viable options and better understand costs.

This is a wonderful time of year to enjoy our community, connect with neighbors, and take pride in keeping Lakewood looking its best. Thank you for all that you do to make this such a great place to live.

From the Boardroom

The 80’s called…it wants its hallway back!

Great things are happening at the clubhouse, the hallway renovation and kitchen expansion project is underway. The small restrooms and the telephone table (which has not been used in many, many years) located on the east side of the building were removed to facilitate a slight expansion of the kitchen as well as moving the ingress and egress to and from the kitchen closer to the Argyle. Once this project is complete, you will no longer see servers carrying trays of food down the hallway and through the lobby, they will have direct access to the restaurant as well as the Oaks Terrace.

Now that summer is here, we all get to enjoy all of the amenities that make Lakewood great. The pools are open, swim team has started, the playgrounds are busy and boats are on the lake on a daily basis.

In addition, the old track lighting that has been lighting the artists work in the art gallery is being replaced with a newer lighting system that will highlight our artist’s work. Of course, no upgrade is complete without new flooring to match our lobby area. The goal is to have the project finished by late June.

Now that summer is here, we all get to enjoy all of the amenities that make Lakewood great. The pools are open, swim team has started, the playgrounds are busy and boats are on the lake on a daily basis. Be sure to carry your Lakewood ID when you are enjoying our amenities and have a safe and happy summer!

I pass the torch to a new Board President with this edition, and hope you will continue reading—these updates from the board reflect an earnest effort to keep residents informed and connected to these volunteers that represent the best interests of the community.

Work Request Form Notice

We have available a work request form to address common grounds issues or repairs. These forms help our maintenance team address issues in a timely manner and keep track of them for future resident inquiries. To report a maintenance issue, please call the Community Services Office at 816-373-4343 or email Ann at ann@lpoa.com for Staff to write a Work Request on your behalf, or download by going to lpoa.com/maintenance and clicking “Work Request Form”. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation!

With the integration of our new system, Northstar, the Board has directed staff to push Lakewood ID renewals to 2027. With that being said, you will still need your ID to use the amenities and should carry them on common ground—or present your ID via the LPOA Northstar app. If your ID is lost or destroyed, you may purchase a replacement for $5 at the office.

Please note, we will NOT be changing our office hours this summer—and will remain at our usual 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. timeframe. Please call us at 816.373.4326 for any questions.

If you have not been receiving our weekly Eblasts to your inbox, and would like to, visit the Northstar Member portal at members.lpoa.com and click Go To Your Account, and navigate to My Profile to ensure your email is correct. Then, go to Email Subscriptions under the same dropdown tab to update your preferences.
