Happy July, neighbors! This month is especially meaningful as our country approaches its 250th anniversary. While our Fourth of July celebrations at Lakewood may look a little different this year, we’re grateful for the thoughtful and creative alternatives planned. A sincere thank-you goes to the Activities Committee for their hard work, including organizing the upcoming concert—it’s shaping up to be a wonderful way to celebrate together.
As we enjoy these shared spaces, we kindly ask everyone to remain mindful and respectful of one another.
With warmer weather upon us, we’re seeing more activity around our lakes and pools. As we enjoy these shared spaces, we kindly ask everyone to remain mindful and respectful of one another. These amenities are here for all of us, and a little courtesy goes a long way in keeping Lakewood welcoming and enjoyable for everyone.
Finally, please be sure to take a moment to read the President’s article this month. It includes helpful and timely information that we encourage all members to review.

Debbie Stalnaker, Board President
Welcome to Summer in Lakewood!
July marks the true beginning of summer, and there is no better place to enjoy the season than right here in Lakewood. Thanks to the recent rainfall, our lakes are full, our landscapes are lush and green, and our community is looking its absolute best.
Whether you’re spending time on the water, enjoying one of our pools, participating in community events, or simply taking an evening walk through the neighborhood, Lakewood offers an exceptional quality of life that makes our community a special place to call home.
As we head into one of the busiest and most enjoyable times of the year, I want to share a few reminders and resources to help you stay informed and connected.
–
Every day, I see questions posted on social media regarding Lakewood information such as upcoming events, pool hours, amenities, and community updates. While social media can be helpful, the best way to ensure you’re receiving accurate and timely information is through LPOA’s official communication channels.
Our website is the primary source for community information, governing documents, amenities, events, and announcements.
Stay informed by subscribing to our weekly email updates. E-Blasts are distributed every Monday, with additional communications sent as needed, and include important information, community news, and upcoming events.
To subscribe, visit lpoa.com, navigate to the Contact page, and click “Subscribe” at the bottom of the page.
Follow the official LPOA Facebook page at facebook.com/LakewoodPOA for announcements, reminders, and community updates.
The Northstar app provides convenient access to many community services and features, including:
• Paying HOA dues
• Receiving important notifications
• Accessing pool entry
• Managing your homeowner account
Our monthly newsletter, which is the official and original form of communication to residents, is published on the first day of each month via email and to the lpoa.com website and contains community news, event information, project updates, and important reminders. Residents can sign up to receive The Ripples electronically.
Our Activities Committee has planned another exciting lineup of events for the Fourth of July holiday. For additional details and event updates, be sure to follow the Activities Committee on Facebook.
• Lighted Boat Parade
• 5K Run, Walk & Roll
• Pancake Breakfast
• Pool Party
• Red, White & Groove – live music on The Rock
These events have become treasured Lakewood traditions and provide wonderful opportunities to gather with neighbors and celebrate our community spirit.
As we enjoy all that summer has to offer, please keep safety top of mind.
Before heading to the pool, please review:
• Pool hours
• Pool rules
• Inclement weather policies
Current information is available on the LPOA website at lpoa.com/amenities/pools
Whether you’re boating, fishing, paddling, or enjoying the shoreline, please take time to review the boating and lake safety guidelines available on the LPOA website.
Metro Security has begun its summer patrol schedule and is working alongside our Community Services staff to provide additional visibility and support throughout the community during our busiest season.
The City of Lee’s Summit recently completed the installation of speed bumps and a raised crosswalk on Lake Drive in front of Cove Pool. These improvements were designed to enhance pedestrian safety in a heavily traveled area.
Please remember to slow down, stay alert, and watch for pedestrians, cyclists, and children enjoying our neighborhood.
Summer is one of the most vibrant times of the year in Lakewood. On behalf of the Board of Directors, thank you for helping make our community a welcoming, active, and beautiful place to live.
We hope you and your family have a safe, enjoyable, and memorable summer season.
See you around the lakes!

During the month of June, the Tennis Club, along with the Wallace Home Group, sponsored three FREE clinics for kids. We averaged around 40 kids for each event. The kids had a great time, and prizes were handed out to all. It looks like we have some future tennis stars here in Lakewood.

When you really want to show dad appreciation this Father ’s Day - give him a hand with his door and window projects! From service & repair, to complete installation, Door Systems is here to help you say “ Thanks Dad ”
We have available a work request form to address common grounds issues or repairs. These forms help our maintenance team address issues in a timely manner and keep track of them for future resident inquiries. To report a maintenance issue, please call the Community Services Office at 816-373-4343 or email Ann at ann@lpoa.com for Staff to write a Work Request on your behalf, or download by going to lpoa.com/maintenance and clicking “Work Request Form”. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation!

Lakewood’s Election committee is recruiting for multiple members to join the current committee volunteers; please consider joining to help keep Lakewood great. You can find the Committee Interest Form at www.lpoa.com/online-forms or contact Sean Bachtel at sean@lpoa.com for details.
The Election Committee is an essential advisory committee to Lakewood’s Board of Directors tasked with implementing Lakewood’s election processes. We strive to keep a group of diverse volunteers from throughout all parts of the community who are excited to insure fair, open and accurate elections. The committee typically meets monthly leading up to the spring election cycle with multiple meetings and events in March to facilitate the administration of the annual elections.
If you are considering or have question, please feel free to reach out to any member of the current elections committee. We look forward to hearing from interested candidates.

Lakewood Improvements Program (LIP), represents Lakewood’s investment in the future of our community. Through this program, we fund major capital projects, reserve allocations, debt obligations, and other one-time expenditures that maintain and enhance our amenities and infrastructure.
Each year, recommendations for LIP projects are developed through collaboration between the Facilities & Development Committee, Staff, and resident-submitted proposals. These recommendations are carefully evaluated and presented to the Board of Directors for approval during the annual budget process in November of each year.
Through this program, we fund major capital projects, reserve allocations, debt obligations, and other one-time expenditures that maintain & enhance our amenities & infrastructure.
As we move into the heart of summer, several significant projects are making excellent progress and will provide lasting benefits for our residents.
The interior Clubhouse renovations done during the last few months will extend the look and feel of the main lobby
The Kitchen expansion added a new entry/exit door, which will provide better traffic flow for servers and improve overall dining service and experience.
Design completed by engineer, bids for design and install awaiting board approval.
Anticpate designer bid packet to be approved at July board meeting - work anticipated to begin in Fall.
Weather made for some delays but will be completed in the following order: Bayview Tennis Courts, Cove Pickleball Court, East Lake Village Tennis Courts & Cove Tennis Courts.
New entry/exit doors installed, floor partially resurfaced & new serving hatch installed in June.
Work is progressing with all functional aspects (floors, walls, lights, etc.) completed in late June.
The Board, Facilities & Development Committee, and Staff remain committed to making strategic investments that preserve and enhance Lakewood's outstanding amenities while maintaining the beauty, functionality, and value of our community for years to come.
