THE SCHOOL OF ARCHITECTURE IS A THREE-STORY BUILDING DESIGNED WITH A FOCUS ON OPEN SPACE AND RECREATION. THE LAYOUT OF THE BUILDING IS UNIQUE, CONSISTING OF MULTIPLE LEVELS THAT PROVIDE AMPLE OPPORTUNITIES FOR OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES AND RELAXATION.

THE SURROUNDING LANDSCAPE PLAYS A SIGNIFICANT ROLE IN ENHANCING THE OVERALL AMBIANCE OF THE SCHOOL. IT MAY INCLUDE CAREFULLY DESIGNED GARDENS, PATHWAYS, AND GREEN SPACES THAT COMPLEMENT THE ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN AND CONTRIBUTE TO THE OVERALL AESTHETICS AND FUNCTIONALITY OF THE CAMPUS.

EACH LEVEL OF THE SCHOOL HAS ACCESS TO ITS OWN CONTAINED OUTDOOR SPACE, ENSURING THAT EVERY FLOOR CAN BENEFIT FROM THE SURROUNDING LANDSCAPE. THESE OUTDOOR AREAS ARE CAREFULLY DESIGNED TO CATER TO THE NEEDS AND INTERESTS OF THE OCCUPANTS. THE TERRACES PROVIDE A VARIETY OF ACTIVITIES THAT CORRESPOND TO THE ADJACENT FLOORS THEY SERVE. FOR EXAMPLE, A TERRACE CONNECTED TO A DESIGN STUDIO FLOOR MAY HAVE WORKSTATIONS OR COLLABORATIVE SPACES WHERE STUDENTS CAN GATHER AND WORK ON PROJECTS. ON ANOTHER FLOOR, A TERRACE ADJACENT TO A LECTURE HALL MAY OFFER SEATING AREAS FOR STUDENTS TO RELAX OR STUDY.

A KEY OBJECTIVE WAS TO PRESERVE THE FEELING OF A ONE-STORY SCHOOL BUILDING, WHILE MAINTAINING A VERTICAL ORGANIZATION AND ITS EFFICIENCIES.

Conceptual Sketch

BY INCORPORATING THESE TERRACES, THE BUILDING ACHIEVES A SENSE OF UNITY AND CONTINUITY WITH THE SURROUNDING LANDSCAPE. IT CREATES A SEAMLESS TRANSITION BETWEEN THE INDOOR AND OUTDOOR SPACES, BLURRING THE BOUNDARIES AND PROVIDING A REFRESHING AND INSPIRING ENVIRONMENT FOR LEARNING AND SOCIALIZING.
