Digital Law

The world of technology has many people who use the internet for everything they do, because, now, everything is based on technology. When we are using the internet, we must follow a rule and we have some limitations of its use. Some digital responsibilities are: Report cyberbullying, cite your works, do not falsify your identity, and many different things to be a good citizen. From good use of social media, we must respect the opinion of the other people and think that we have the right to freedom of expression, right to credits from your works and right to privacy. Privacy is very important when we use the internet because it is a way to protect your personal information or information that is important to you. Another thing is that we are responsible about the good use that we give to social media or the internet. We must take into account a lot of responsibilities and rights we have to respect, to then do not have any problem with the bad used or maybe the bad people who are found on the citizenship. It is true, we have some regulations, we cannot do whatever we want on the internet only because we want, other people are behind the screen too, and what we do could affect them if we do not regulate our actions, the words we use or the information we publish on the internet. As Jean-Paul Sartre once said “my freedom ends where everyone else’s begins”.

We all use digital tools, the world of the internet grows every moment, and we are conscious about we are connected with a lot of people and everyone have a different opinion. On the last year polemics make internet a place with disagreements and unhappy users because we don't allow other have an opinion of different topics. So, this is an important freedom we should always have, we will post our thinks on the social media, obviously with all the respect for everyone, and we don't have to be “canceled” for that opinion, polemics on social media don´t have rules and people don´t take care of their words for don't hurt the others´ feelings. So, we have to always be respectful with others in social media,

and also, we will have the freedom to share what we think about something without

2018, Mark Zuckerberg attends a judgement, the reason is the violation from millions of users' privacies. A group led by the psychologist and data scientist Aleksandr Kogan were in search of finding new insights on the psychological part of the human being, for which they asked Facebook access to millions of users. Each user answered some questions with previous consent, but after finishing their research Kogan granted access for the users to Cambridge Analytica. This last company used the power of analyzing Big Data to develop Artificial Intelligence models capable of offering the best Trump’s propaganda with especial care to every user, affecting the elections. Just as this well-known scandal multiple others have been, increasingly, appearing. The new technological era arises knew ethical dilemmas and concerns not only from the users' eyes but also on the company’s side (Lapowski, 2019).

Big Tech Companies now should be concerned not only in offering the best products but also in offering the best privacy and ethical purposes. This can be having some consequences when we are respectful and conscious.

addressed from multiple levels. For example, the privacy policy of Facebook had to change after the Analytica scandal in search of a better management of the users’ sensitive information. Another example is the recommendation engine from Facebook, which has a racist bias. Facebook has made multiple changes to this recommendation engine because it, for instance, is more likely to offer taxi drivers jobs to black people. Problems of the same kind tend to appear in all technological companies offering ethical dilemmas that might threaten human dignity. Therefore, these companies should always search to maintain the integrity of the users and buyers, after all, their reputation and income also depends on those decisions. Indeed, we are leaving in a time that offers new threats we wouldn’t have been capable of understanding years ago, due to these changes, new obligations relapse upon the shoulders of Big Tech Companies, and us users can only expect they make the right choices (Metcalf, 2019) (YimmyTalks, 2020).

On the internet we can find a lot of information, photographs, people, among other things. The internet is like a another completely different universe: the way to communicate each other, to search information, to react to some incorrect things is different and the process it takes too. As we already know, we have to abide to all these laws that the internet present to us, is our responsibility as digital citizens. ¿Responsibilities? Yes, we have some responsibilities in the moment we form part of the internet, but it looks like no one cares about them, when these responsibilities are going to make us more responsible, more confident and, inclusive, more professional. But first, ¿what is a responsibility? From a small age we are taught on what is correct and incorrect; with your family you learn all the values to be a good citizen, also you have some responsibilities, as make your bed, helping washing the cloth or doing breakfast or dinner, this is because when we are part of a group of people, like family, friends or some social group, we have to contribute to that group: we have to help them grow. It is the same when we surf on the internet, we are part of a group and we have a responsibility with this group of people. Some of the responsibilities that De Matteis (w.d.) presents are the responsibility to report all behavior that hurts or offends someone else, to cite works or documents you used, to not falsify our identity, to model and teach a good use of technology.

It is very important that in school and home children could be taught in the definition of what is a good and a bad behavior and the responsibilities that it contains, also this will let them identify what actions on the internet are good and what deserve to be reported. For example, a child who know about the rights and responsibilities he or she has on the internet, is going to be more effective at the moment to relate with others and to achieve the goals he or she has. As we said before, each person has to be able to recognize their role in society and the responsibility that this implies to contribute to forming a better society and a better future to the next generations.
