Dedicated to my Great Grandmother Malone, who had the great taste to decorate our family home with prints of gorgeous paintings from the Great Masters, and instilled in me as a child, an appreciation for beautiful, classical art. **** This book may not be reproduced in any form, in whole or in part, or stored or transmitted by any means, known now or by something developed in the future. This book is the result of realizing the dream of having published the first in the Vintage Paintings series. This is a serious collection of paintings of Gentlemen from a bygone era, and they are all in the public domain. This is another treasure trove of wonderful paintings, some of which I’ve never seen before. Paintings of the American Founding Fathers: George Washington; Thomas Jefferson; Sam Adams, even Paul Revere, who all have places in America’s rich history. As well, are paintings of men of other nationalities; for example, Lady Diana’s relatives, the first two earls of Spencer. And Kings and other nobility. Even a dramatic painting of Napoleon Bonaparte. You can peruse the list of the paintings at the end of the book. Each painting has been transformed into a details grayscale image, lightened and sharpened so that when you color it, there isn’t much gray to be seen.

Each grayscale image is like the foundation sketch for the beginning of your work of art. That’s how I look at grayscale coloring: the Artist provides you with the sketch for your painting, and you chose how to fill the rest in. Part of the beauty of grayscale coloring is that no two colored images look alike; it is your personal color choices, and your personal execution and interpretation, yours alone!

There are many youtube videos available for you to learn how to do grayscale coloring. if you are a beginner. If you are challenged, and do not understand how to go about it, go to

youtube and search for what your issue is, and you’re sure to find some excellent tutorials.

All of the images were colored the conventional way with colored pencils or mixed media, except for the digital colorations by the talented digital colorists, Donna Sugra and Stephanie Frisch.
