Research Foundation’s
DEAR FRIENDS,

It is with long anticipation and great enthusiasm that we welcome you to the Lymphoma Research Foundation’s (LRF) 2022 Annual Gala. Tonight, we are gathered with new and old friends for the first time since 2019 to celebrate our deserving honorees and our incredible lymphoma community. So much has changed since we last celebrated in person, but tonight we come together, stronger than ever, to Rise to the Occasion so we may continue to serve those touched by this blood cancer.
Gala will allow LRF to make greater investment in scientific breakthroughs and improved patient care. The legacy and lasting impact of this evening’s event will touch patients, caregivers, physicians and the entire cancer community in ways beyond measure. It is with deep gratitude that we thank you for rising with us in pursuit of our mission.
With gratitude,
This evening we are delighted to recognize two innovators in lymphoma research and advocates for patients. LRF will present Steven M. Horwitz, MD with our Distinguished Leadership Award for his many contributions to the field of lymphoma research. Dr. Horwitz is a member of LRF’s prestigious Scientific Advisory Board (SAB) and a brilliant physician-scientist who has served as the principal investigator on numerous pivotal studies, including clinical trials that have led to the development of novel therapies to treat rare T-cell lymphomas. Pfizer will be presented with the LRF Corporate Leadership Award for the company’s bold approach to translating scientific research into effective medicines for people living with a lymphoma diagnosis.
This year, we rise together to celebrate our shared commitment toward eradicating lymphoma. Your contributions to the Annual

JOSEPH R. BERTINO, MD
People become a part of our lives via many different paths. Some interact with us professionally, while others are developed through long-term friendships. For us, Joe Bertino was at the rare but cherished intersection of both these paths.
He was the man who treated Jerry for lymphoma and saved his life. He was the brilliant researcher admired and respected by his colleagues, enabling him to establish the Lymphoma Research Foundation Scientific Advisory Board. He was the golfing partner who loved the game.
Most importantly, he was a man of honor, a man of pure heart and endless kindness. Joe was a man we were proud to call our friend.
We miss him fiercely.

CONGRATULATIONS, STEVE
Congratulations, Steve, on receiving the Lymphoma Research Foundation’s Distinguished Leadership Award.
We are grateful that you saw the gaps in T-cell lymphoma early on in your clinical career and decided to dedicate your life’s work to research and serving patients diagnosed with this rare and challenging group of lymphomas.
Your commitment to discovering new therapies and understanding the diseases and how they function, along with your deep compassion for patients and their families, is deeply appreciated by all of us in cutaneous lymphoma.
You never say no to any request we make to serve our patient community. Where you find the energy, time and capacity to give so much of yourself over and above your daily clinical work and time with your family is extraordinary.
Your impact has rippled far and wide, touching the lives of patients, clinicians, researchers and all of us who are part of the T-cell lymphoma world.
On behalf of the Board of Directors of the Cutaneous Lymphoma Foundation and the entire staff, thank you, Steve, for everything you have done and continue to do to serve patients and their families.
