Home of the Seasiders
TODAY we welcome the players and o cials of the University of Exeter 5th X1 and we hope they enjoy their excursion across the Devon border in the Devon and Exeter League Division ree encounter against our Reserves.
is will be the rst game of the season fro the students so it’s di cult to assess how they will perform but as always we expect a competitive game.
Unfortunately, our First Team will be le kicking their heels again this a ernoon, for the third Saturday since the season started. We were looking forward to travelling to Premier Division leaders Crediton United Reserves, especially a er our splendid performance against O ery St Mary last week.
A er having xtures postponed due to the death of Her Majesty e Queen and a late call-o by Dawlish, allegedly because they could not raise a team, the Firsts have no game today because Devon FA have moved county cup xtures and Crediton’s cup match takes preference.
ere was a great atmosphere in the clubhouse a er last Saturday’s 6-1 win over e O ers, followed by a BBQ and music evening featuring the popular duo, Simple Chaos. Apparently there were a few sore heads on Sunday morning!
Vice-chairman Francesca Evans is planning similar events on the last Saturday of each month to coincide with the presentation of our player-of-the-month awards.

PLAYER OF THE MONTH AWARDS
September 2022
IN a bid to boost player morale after two very di cult years for all football clubs, we have relaunched our Player of The Month awards, presented after first double header of the season last week.
The recipients were chosen by the two managers with Fred Parsons receiving the First Team award from Julien Simier and Toby Fowler getting the Reserves’ acco lade from new manager Wally Blackmore (see photos). Fred and Toby received a £20 voucher to be spent at the bar.

The Player-of-The Month awards will be presented on the last Saturday of every month when the club is organising a music night with a late night bar to 12 mid night. This month’s gig featured the popular duo Simple Chaos, appropriately named for the football club! They went down a storm.
The next music night will be on Saturday, October 29th (band to be confirmed). The club is also planning to start the man-of-the-match awards for all home games to be chosen by match sponsors. The winners will receive a £10 bar voucher.

THE NEXT GENERATIONTHE NEXT GENERATION
THE club’s Youth Section continues to go from strength to strength, thanks to a team of dedicated coaches and parent volunteers.
In particular, the Under 15s, under the guidance of manager Darren Wiscombe, are making big progress.
The Under 15s gave a good account of themselves in a competitive game at the Davey Fort, losing 6-4 to Exmouth after leading 3-1 at half-time. They were gutted to lose the game but it gave them the belief that they can compete with the top sides in the East Devon Division Three.

In their next game they travelled to
Feniton where the young Seasiders started brightly and going in at halftime 5-1 up.
Surely, it couldn’t happen again? But with just ten minutes to play it 5-5. With the clock running down and missed chances on both sides, it looked like the game would end in a draw.
But with just two minutes left Sam Merigaux tucked away the winner, his second goal, to make it 6-5 to Lyme.
Their other goals came from Josh Stansfield (2), Jamie Robinson and Jacob Denning.
A massive well done to the whole team.
