Dear Parents and Guardians,
Technology in school:
As you are aware, we are proud of how we use a blend of physical and digital learning tools in our lessons as part of the daily curriculum. Our pupils enjoy an engaging learning environment that gives them the life skills they need for the future. To support this approach, all children from Year 3 and above need to have their own device to use in school.
We are proud to have received Microsoft Showcase School status for the fourth consecutive year. This recognises not only how effectively our pupils are taught to use Microsoft tools, but also the ongoing specialist training our staff undertake to integrate technology into their teaching. For pupils, this means a more consistent, engaging and future-focused learning experience, with access to the same high-quality tools used in higher education and the workplace. For parents, it provides reassurance that technology is being used safely, purposefully and to a recognised standard, supporting both academic progress and the development of essential digital skills.
School Managed Devices:
To further support this approach LVS Ascot will be moving to a full SMD (School Managed Device) environment regarding pupil devices with effect from September 2026. This means all devices will be managed by the school, school software will be preloaded, and all devices will be kept up to date remotely.This gives consistency of devices throughout the school, and reassurance for parents that their child is using a reliable, fully supported device that works seamlessly with school systems and can be easily maintained and safeguarded. The key reasons for LVS Ascot adopting this approach are:
Consistency of device – ensuring all devices meet school requirements and are fully compatible with all school-provided software. We have experienced ongoing issues with iPads, MacBooks and Chromebooks not supporting key software, as well as pupils using devices without physical keyboards, styluses or trackpads, and teachers being unable to support pupils effectively in class with devicerelated issues.
KCSIE (Keeping Children Safe in Education) – requirements for digital learning continue to become more extensive and, as a 1-2-1 device school, we must ensure that pupils are safe and accessing only appropriate material and programmes. This is supported through our Classroom Cloud safeguarding and monitoring software, which has been communicated to parents. Vision for the future – a key part of our school’s vision is developing future-ready skills in our pupils, enabling them to maximise the effective use of devices, software and AI. This includes the use of stylus and inking technology, increasingly common in higher education and the workplace, preparing pupils for digital public exams (GCSE and A level), and making full use of available productivity and accessibility tools.
Any Pupils joining Years 3 to 13 from September 2026 will have the fee for renting their SMD included on their termly fees invoice (the charge will be specified as a separate line item). LVS Ascot uses its approved supplier, Easy4U, for all devices.
Cost and devices:
Pupils in Years 3 to 6 will be provided with a lightweight and durable Lenovo 500W, an entry-level device designed to support Junior School pupils as they develop confidence and familiarity in using technology for learning.
When pupils move into Year 7, their existing device will be returned to the school (and Easy4U) and replaced with an upgraded Lenovo 13w. This device offers a larger screen and enhanced processing power to support the increased demands of learning in Key Stage 3.
As pupils move into Year 9, their existing device will again be returned and replaced with a Lenovo ThinkPad L13, providing enhanced performance to support the increasing demands of Key Stage 4. When pupils reach Year 12, the device will be refreshed once more, after three years of use, with a new Lenovo ThinkPad L13, ensuring it continues to meet the requirements of study through Key Stage 5.
While it is mandatory that the devices are upgraded at the Key Stages detailed and returned when a child finishes school, if a pupil or parent wishes to purchase the old device for personal use outside of school, this can be arranged. The old devices will be returned to factory settings with all LVS Ascot software removed. Likewise for any pupils leaving LVS Ascot at Year 13 or earlier, this is also possible.
As part of Easy4U’s service, accidental damage and theft cover is included, with an excess of £50. If a pupil brings a broken E4U device to the TSC office, the pupil will receive a loan device while the broken device is repaired or replaced. If a device is stolen, a Police Incident number will be required to receive a replacement.
Below are the costs of the devices for each Key Stage which is included in termly fees.
The device list above is reviewed and updated each year to ensure that pupils receive up to date devices, therefore the models may be different by September 2027, but price points should remain similar. Prices will remain fixed for the period of a pupil having a device, ie. A pupil in Year 3 with a Lenovo 500W, will have a fixed fee of £65 per term (inc VAT) until Year 7.

Would you like your son or daughter to sing or play the piano while at LVS?
I teach pupils from beginner to advanced level and have experience with teaching pupils from Infant School through to Sixth Form. My 10 years experience as a peripatetic music teacher have seen my pupils successfully sit exams from Initial stage to Grade 8 and I work with ABRSM, Trinity, Rock School and LAMDA exam boards.
Instrumental lessons take place in the school week during non core or free lessons and some break or lunch times. They last from 20 minutes to 1 hour, depending on age and ability. Lessons are charged at £25 for 30 minutes.

Keith Jenkins - Guitar Teacher
I have taught guitar at LVS for nearly twenty years. I teach acoustic guitar in classical, folk and more popular styles. Pupil age range is from year 2 through to the senior school.
I also teach the electric guitar for solo and playing in group situations within the school. Most students are interested in performance tuition and they have a particular style or player in mind, but exam level grades are also available.
Lessons are weekly and last for 30 minutes and they are timetabled through the term. I find the musical environment at the school very healthy, and I run two ‘band club’ sessions per week to encourage group playing. It is not competitive…but very relaxed and enjoyable (and fun!) for the students.

Ashley Garbett
Ashley is an active musician and composer in the U.K. pop scene and he has offered music tuition for the past twenty years.
Ashley has worked in a multitude of styles and settings including touring Canada and Europe, performing in showcases for artists under Warner Brothers, Universal and First Access Entertainment, performing at commercial festivals, including BST at Hyde Park London, and on live national T.V. His recorded work was used in the London 2012 Olympics.
He has worked as a peripatetic teacher for numerous schools and music services throughout primary/secondary/college age groups and as a private teacher. Ashley filters his experience within the industry into his teaching and as a byproduct he helps to inspire others of all ages to achieve their personal goals within music.
Ashley is a very friendly and approachable person, and he is very determined in everything he does to achieve great results. He hopes his skills and personality can be of service to your child’s musical education.

Marina Sadzakov MA, BMus, LTCL
Marina is a Teacher of Piano with 30 years of experience. She studied at the University of Novi Sad, Serbia and graduated with a Bachelor’s in Music (Hons).
After that Marina took up her first job as a Piano teacher, and the principal accompanist, at a Specialist Music school in Slovenia, before relocating to the UK for postgraduate studies.
Marina’s second instrument of study was the Church Organ and she obtained the LTCL Performer’s Diploma from Trinity College London. She also graduated from The University of Reading with a Master’s degree in Organ Historiography in 2001, after which she pursued her teaching career in England.
As an accompanist, Marina has played at international competitions in Italy and accompanied in a number of concerts in Germany, Austria, Croatia and the UK. Her students regularly take part in piano competitions and have gained some notable medals and trophies in the solo and duet categories in the UK as well as in Slovenia.

John Watts
John began his brass-playing journey on the tenor horn followed by euphonium before eventually settling on the tuba aged 16.
He studied at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama in Cardiff where he performed with all of the top college ensembles and orchestras. During his time there he won the Linda Mowat Brass Prize, an award from the Wolfson Foundation and a coveted place on the BBC National Orchestra of Wales placement scheme. Since graduating in 2003 John went on to gain a Licentiate from the Royal Schools of Music with Distinction.
John teaches all brass instruments to students of all ages and abilities across Berkshire and the surrounding areas. A number of his students are in the in the National Children’s Orchestra and John has also successfully prepared students for entry to conservatoires and Junior Music Colleges.
He is the Musical Director of the St Sebastian Wokingham Band and conducts a number of senior youth bands in the area. In 2014 John co-wrote a Foundation in Brass Teaching course which was delivered over a fortnight to some experienced brass players in Uganda on behalf of the charity Brass for Africa.

LVS Ascot have appointed Vectare, a specialist school transport management company, to manage the school bus services. Vectare are responsible for over 2.5 million independent school journeys a year. Vectare will manage all aspects of the school’s service, and any enquiries can be directed to their team at lvsascot@vectare.co.uk. All bookings for school bus routes are made via our online booking system, which can be viewed at lvsascot.vectare.co.uk. The website also incorporates an interactive journey planner which allows you to enter your postcode and find your closest bus stop
All bookings for all routes can be made via the dedicated transport website. The website allows you to book travel 24/7 from anywhere in the world, meaning that if you need to leave early for work one morning or you are running late and you would like your child to travel on a school bus as a one off, you can make a booking right up until the bus is due to depart
