LVMPD Reality Based Training Center Update
Construction is well underway on the Reality Based Training Center, LVMPD’s most important capital priority. Since the project’s announcement in 2019 and its official press conference on Oct. 1, 2020, significant progress has been made on this project that, when complete, will be the largest and most comprehensive facility of its kind in the nation.

IMPORTANT TO LOCAL COMMUNITY, STATE, AND THE NATION
OCT. 1, 2020 – OCT. 1, 2021
An important addition to Southern Nevada, the LVMPD Reality Based Training Center is a multi-jurisdictional training center that will ultimately be used by over 60 public and private entities state-wide. The Reality Based Training Center will be a place where law enforcement agencies and other first responders receive specialized training that includes conditioning, decision-making skills, and stress inoculation to save lives during real-world scenarios. It is designed to accommodate situations law enforcement and first responders may be likely to encounter, from active shooter incidents with mass casualties, training for natural disasters, and the simulation of responses to crises like the COVID-19 pandemic
The first building is on track to be completed by the end of 2021 with a ribbon-cutting on Oct. 1, 2021 – exactly one year from its press conference - on a date intentionally chosen for its somber significance to Southern Nevada and local law enforcement. Ever mindful of the horrific tragedy that occurred on the Las Vegas Strip on Oct. 1, 2017, in the nation’s largest mass shooting, the LVMPD Foundation remains committed to providing funding for critical training to help law enforcement and first responders be best prepared for all incidents.

GENEROUS COMMUNITY SUPPORT
Entirely financed by private donors, the Reality Based Training Center has received generous community support. The fundraising goal for Phase One is $25 million, with $18 million raised to date. The LVMPD Foundation is working hard to raise the remaining $7 million by the end of this year.

Coming later in the year will be a specialty Nevada license plate that supports the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Foundation. The specialty plate will soon be available statewide for pre-order from the Department of Motor Vehicles. Another way to show support and appreciation for the brave men and women of LVMPD is to proudly wear LVMPD branded merchandise available for purchase online at the LVMPD Foundation Store
The online shop has a selection of LVMPD T-shirts, baseball saps, face masks, and other branded apparel. Please keep checking back as we will be adding new merchandise to the store. Proceeds from your specialty license plate and apparel purchase go to the LVMPD Foundation and help the Foundation support and fund area commands, special units, training, equipment, and hundreds of community engagement programs and initiatives. By supporting the LVMPD Foundation, you help make Southern Nevada a safer place for all.
