WILD NIGHT IN VALLEY EMERGENCY services crews were kept busy after a wild storm lashed the Latrobe Valley on Thursday night. Strong winds, lightning, thunder and hail arrived with the cold front which tore through the region about 6pm. The State Emergency Service (SES) responded to 19 incidents in Moe and six in Morwell, while a number of other parts of the Valley were impacted. SES operations manager Craig Hooper said it was fortunate there were no serious injuries recorded.

INSIDE TODAY

“In relation to the Latrobe Valley local government area we had a number of incidents,” he said. “These incidents range from trees on buildings, roofs had been removed in some areas, in particular down around Boolarra and Churchill. “On the Hyland Highway we were called to assist Ambulance Victoria who were transporting a patient that had got stuck behind a number of trees.” Mr Hooper said the SES had attended to more than 280 incidents from Phillip Island to Mallacoota.
