As we head into October, 21 FBS teams remain unbeaten this season. Eight of those teams hail from the Big Ten and Pac-12.

READY FOR A SCARY GOOD OCTOBER?

You can feel it in the mornings, can’t you? The chill in the air that makes October in Las Vegas feel like true football weather is coming our way. And with non-conference season largely behind us, league play will create some tasty matchups every weekend.

In the Big Ten, the East Division is thriving as four of the seven schools are still undefeated. Meanwhile, half of the Pac-12 is ranked among the top 18 teams in the nation – and that doesn’t even include a certain coach in Colorado who has been getting some attention lately. Yes, we’re about to be treated to a great month of football -- and that’s no trick!

CLARK COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT GETS ASSIST FROM THE LAS VEGAS BOWL HUDDLE

The Las Vegas Bowl Huddle went above and beyond during the Extra Yard for Teachers Week last month, providing three area schools (Lincoln Elementary School, Cram Middle School and Bonanza High School) with much needed supplies in addition to complimentary coffee, donuts and lunch.

The Las Vegas Bowl would like to elevate the teaching profession by inspiring and empowering teachers. With the growing student population, there is a need for enhanced learning opportunities. The Huddle will offer a solution to funding these innovative and unique learning opportunities presented by Clark County teachers. Clark County teachers will have the opportunity to apply for a grant to help support classroom projects based on leadership, health and fitness.

Five games into the college football season and members of the media are giving us their best guess as to which Big Ten and Pac-12 teams will meet in the 2023 SRS Distribution Las Vegas Bowl (as of Oct. 3).

CONFERENCE STANDINGS

Entering the month of October, the Big Ten and the Pac-12 have slotted a combined six teams among the top 10 in the Associated Press Top 25 poll. The Big Ten lists 2-Michigan, 4-Ohio State, and 6-Penn State, while the Pac-12 rounds out the top 10 with 7-Washington, 8-Oregon, 9-USC.

Below are the current standings for both Conferences, with conference record listed first, followed by overall record (as of Oct. 1).

Rankings listed are Associated Press. The College Football Playoff rankings will start on Tuesday, October 31 and will continue each Tuesday through November with the final ranking released on Sunday, December 3.

In addition to the SRS Distribution Las Vegas Bowl, the city welcomes the National Final Rodeo, Formula 1, Super Bowl LVIII, the Pac-12 Football Championship Game and a plethora of in-season basketball events and postseason conference basketball tournaments. ESPN Events is proud to announce the Vegas Showdown - a four team basketball event featuring Arizona State, BYU, NC State and Vanderbilt - which will take place at Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino’s Michelob ULTRA Arena on Thursday, November 23 and Friday, November 24.
