SPIRIT OF ECSTASY CHALLENGE As part of the challenge, artists from around the world will create compositions inspired by the Rolls-Royce symbol using fabrics. olls-Royce unveiled a new design for the Spirit of Ecstasy figurine that will embellish the hood of Spectre, the first all-electric car of the marque. The debut of the new image of the "Flying Lady" took place on the anniversary date: exactly­111 years ago, on February 6, 1911, the "Spirit of Ecstasy" was registered as the intellectual property of Rolls-Royce. The "Flying Lady" took a lower and more dynamic pose, due to which the image became closer to the original sketches of its creator - sculptor and illustrator of 20th century, Charles Sykes. This is a real goddess of speed, ready to meet the wind: one leg in front, the body is tilted and an impatient look is directed forward. Thanks to digital modeling, the "Spirit of Ecstasy" features and face expression are so elegant and realistic.

The BMW iX Flow breaks new ground for the auto industry with the ability to swap between two colours using E Ink, the electronic paper technology used in e-readers. The body of BMW’s iX midsize electric SUV is wrapped in laser-cut E Ink electrophoretic paper with millions of mic­ rocapsules of ink, each the diameter of a human hair. In 2021, the Reverso model celebrated its 90th anniversary and a new watch, Reverso Tribute Enamel Hidden Treasures, was released. The watch is adorned with three paintings by eminent painters, whose masterpieces combine mysterious, sometimes mystical stories associated with their disappearance and finding again. Jaeger-LeCoultre decided to pay tribute to them by creating miniature replicas on the back of the iconic watch.

eproducing the moon’s rotation, the apparent movement of the sun around the globe as we observe it from Earth and a tidal chart, the Blast Moonstruck was designed to make this dance between the sun and the moon intelligible and intensely poetic. Increasing the impact of the 3D effect, the domed crystal is set in a protective sapphire crystal box. The latter item is encircled by an 18-carat rose gold ring, engraved with the 31 days of the month. Inside the domed crystal are micro-engraved landmasses. The case is fashioned from black ceramic and black DLC-treated titanium. The 45 mm item is presented with an alligator, velvet, or rubber strap.

Breathtaking masterpiece

Bvlgari has unveiled L'Opera Grandiosa, the flacon is crafted from Murano glass and 18k rose gold. The glassblowers from Fornace Mian used the special Sbruffo technique to create the flacon, which consists in forming several layers of glass, differing in the level of transparency and density, as well as in various shades. The necklace at its neck is made of hexagonal gold scales, reminiscent of the iconic Serpenti design and beautifully decorated with rubellites weighing 5.39 carats, amethysts - 4.86 carats and citrines - 4.56 carats. T

he design inspiration for the 1953 Bentley R-Type Continental was the one-off pre-war Bentley Embiricos and Bentley Corniche. Engineer Ivan Evernden and chief designer John Blatchley developed the Gran Turismo in the best Bentley tradition, using a streamlined and lightweight design to enable the car to travel long distances at high speeds. Masterfully performed, fast and exclusive, the 1953 Bentley R-Type Continental became a cult model of its time. By the time production ended in 1955, 208 copies of the R-Type Continentals had been produced. Orders came in from all over the world.

oachbuilders H. J. Mulliner were tasked with creating the new, streamlined Bentley coupé. In a pioneering move in its day and to save weight, the bodywork, window frames, windscreen surround, backlight, seat frames and bumpers were made in aluminium. Considered superfluous, the car didn’t have a radio to save weight. Weight was the critical factor; tyres that could carry a two ton motor car at speeds of over 185 km/h didn’t exist in 1950. Evernden calculated that the new grand tourer would have to weigh a maximum of around 1,750 kilograms. This combination of weight and speed was right on the limit for the specified Dunlop Medium Distance Track tyres. All the hard work and planning paid off and was rewarded when in September 1951 at the Montlhéry track near Paris, the sleek new Bentley averaged 190 km/h over five laps, with a best lap speed just under 193 km/h. The power of the standard six-cylinder engine was 153 h. p.

urberry has unveiled a new Burberry spring/ summer 2022 women presentation to the judgment of fans and critics of high fashion. The collection has a provocative name – Animal Instinct. When fantasy gets complete freedom, we observe the birth of the new form. It can awaken the soul to a different perception of life, refresh and inspire drastic changes. So did Riccardo Tisci, Chief Creative Officer at Burberry. He boldly applied a new take on the iconic Burberry trench coat. Nobody could imagine that the coat could be a sexy detail of the image with a bright silhouette, various color and shape variations. Abstract, geometric prints, varied textures, soft fawn, and dark brown shades, oversized sleeves, or their complete absence are giving the images of the Animal Instinct collection certain ephemerality, a sense of belonging to a parallel universe. Knitted and mesh tops, leggings with porthole cut-outs, T-shirts, wide chokers, rings, and large fasteners harmoniously complemented the look. Mesh, tulle, chains, fringes, lapels - numerous accessories are transformed, getting reread, stylizing the look. Speaking of accessories, one cannot but mention the expressive bags of the collection. Clutches, Rhombi, and Olympia bags continue the idea and fully match the style, creating a well-coordinated ensemble. Minimalist sandals with slim high heels or flats with a T-bar or ankle strap as well as over-the-knee sock boot with an open toe do not stand out from the visual range but only add femininity and charm to oversized blazers or flowy or mini dresses. The clothes provide freedom of movement, and it is consistent with the concept of the Burberry Fashion House – “Prosum” (“Go forward”).

f we talk about something special created by Davidoff, then this is definitely Oro Blanco; the exclusive and ­elegant cigars from the rarest tobacco of the 2000-2001 harvest, grown in the Dominican Republic, in the Mao zone. The place where flow three rivers: Mao, Gurabo, and the Yaque Del Norte. Here is the richest soil, giving an amazing harvest. Once harvested, it was aged for 12 years. After that, he passed into the hands of skilled Davidoff's rollers, with at least 15 years of experience. But the path to perfection did not end there either. Each category of people I have mentioned has fundamental differences in their worldview, which together creates a fully-fledged project that will be possible to implement at different levels of our society. Businessmen strive for profit, and this is their innate understanding of success. The spiritual leader seeks to preserve nature, all its forms of life through love and compassion. Philanthropists find problems in society and draw the public’s attention to solving these problems, understanding their consequences. Patrons invest their own funds in solving the sore problems of society and attract other people to participate in their noble missions. Most scientists are talented and selfless people who dedicate their lives to research and deve­lopment of new technologies to improve the quality of people's lives. Together we become a powerful team, and I am honoured to be the ideological inspirer of this project.

My desire to minimise the damage to nature caused by the accumulation of plastic in the sea and on land led me to the idea of crea­ting an international scientific forum in Monaco in partnership with the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation. The mission of the forum (www.worldplasticssummit.org, @worldplasticssummit) is aimed at finding the most unique scientific inventions around the world using a new formula for dissolvable plastic after its use. To date, various enzymes have been discovered that are capable of processing plastic: PETase, LLC, hydrolase and others. These are polyesters that occur naturally, for example, in the leaves of plants. Over millions of years, bacteria have evolved in nature fed by these polyesters. The plastic-recycling enzyme was ori­ginally discovered in 2016 in Japan at a plastic bottle recycling plant in the port city of Sakai. But also, the knowledge I have acquired helps me to manage my inner natural strength most effectively and realise my talents in society, creating the most effective ways. Any success brings joy and inspiration, which energises you for new projects and ideas. Energy loves interaction. Therefore, I strive for mutual coope­ration and mutual communication with inspired and talented people. With such interaction, information is upgraded at the cellular level, energy receives new charges, new neural connections are created in the brain, interest in life increases, and a surge of vitality is felt. Modern people have the most fundamental needs - these are, first of all, the satisfaction of all basic instincts (physical health), and then the evidence of their talents and abilities, their realisation (mental health). Physically and mentally healthy people are able to experience the whole multifa­ceted spectrum of emotions and feelings. Such people are able to build happiness in their lives and improve the quality of life of the people around them, as they achieve the highest qualities of his/her personality: love, compassion, kindness, care and other wonderful qualities of people.

You are a coach, writer and the "beacon" in achieving goals for others. What do you consider your main achievement?

I have always strived and continue to strive to help children, who have less ability to help themselves, unlike adults. I am an active sponsor of many funds to help disadvantaged children, children with complex diseases, talented children who do not have the opportunity to learn and develop their talents. I also sympathise with the many families suffering from political and military action. For many years I have been an active participant in supporting programmes of international charitable foundations such as the Red Cross, Women For Women International, orphans, Naked Heart, Happy Hearts, FPAII, Fondation Princesse Grace and many others. In my youth, when my income was modest, I still took part in charity events: at least 1­ 0-20­percent of my income I donated to charity projects or helped as a volunteer. Today I create projects myself, involve the public in those important problems in society that require immediate solutions, because I understand well the consequences of such unresolved problems. I am also very close to the problems of nature and the environment, especially the ocean.

You are a Lady of high society, a patron of events organised by the most famous brands: Chanel, Chaumet, Balmain, etc. You are among those invited to the wedding of His Highness Grand Duke Georgy Romanov to his wife, Her Highness Princess Victoria Romanovna, at the celebration of the birthday of His Serene Highness Prince Albert II of Monaco. You shine not only with your amazing smile and personality, but also with outfits that combine extravagance and classics. How are your bright and interesting images born?

THIS BRITISH LADY IS COPARTNER WITH THE PRINCE ALBERT II OF MONACO FOUNDATION AND AN ACTIVE SPONSOR OF MANY FUNDS.

My main achievement today I can call “the state of inner happiness”, which I have learned to create and maintain, despite different life situations. For exa­mple, more than 10 years ago, I went through a lot of extreme stress many times, which led to the formation of two forms of cancer in me. The doctors did not know how to save my life, because according to all medical indications, my body was dying, and the doctors did not expect that I could live more than a month. I was and still am motivated to live, first of all, as a mother of three children. I began to develop even more spiritual power, intuition, interaction with the non-material part of my personality, and within 8 years I had completely healed myself without resorting to medical help. I wrote about this experience in my book "True Me­ditation", which will be published soon. In the process of my healing, I figured out even more from my own experience: what it means to be a person, what kind of natural power is inherent in us, how all our systems of the material and non-material parts of the personality interact. And so, my fears began to disappear in a natural way. I live in a state of happiness and curiosity for life, for all its ma­ nifestations, and calmly look into the future, the quality of which largely depends on myself.

life. What are the issues you are focusing on today?

Thank you for the compliments. One of my higher educations is fashion design. I was interested in creating images for myself when I was a child, when I dreamed of becoming an actress or a singer. I have been working in the haute couture industry for about 8 years, creating styles for my clients and creating high fashion collections. I was so passionate about the art of fashion that I even created my own technology. I was very pleased to see that the same technologies were crea­ted in brands such as Valentino and Karl Lagerfeld. It is nice to realise that my consciousness and creative ideas coincided with such well-known and beloved designers. Also my parents brought up in us, their children, taste and style. I have always followed the latest fashion trends of famous couturiers, designers and stylists' advice. But the most important quality of good style, as I have now understood from my life experience, comes na­ turally to a happy, healthy and intellectually deve­loped person, who is full of creative ideas and respectful attitude towards the

world around him and the society of people. Today, I continue to actively participate in high fa­shion weeks, along with world-famous couturiers; I take part in the creation of my own image, and I really enjoy this interaction now as a client and even sometimes as a muse.

You have six higher educations with honours, hundreds of cour­ses completed, thousands of books read, daily meditations, constant spiritual development, yoga, travel, sports, music (you do vocals and arrangement), piloting airplanes, yachts and much more. It seems that nothing is too much for you. Is it true?

Every day I compile and correct a to-do list, distributing tasks according to the degree of importance and the deadline for their completion. Today, there are many technologies that help to implement time management. In addition to the logical approach of using my time, the emotions of happiness are a very important preference factor for me. I can put aside some things for the sake of loved ones, because this time is completely unique and inimi-

What does the art of luxury living mean to you? Luxury for me is a manifestation of inner splendour in the external world. When I am happy, I immediately raise the level of style in all areas of the material world: I set the table more elegantly, I surround myself with even more beautiful bouquets of flowers, I begin to feel the harmony of the surroun­ding space even more subtly. I become more sensitive to the harmonious combination of shades in clothes, in the interior. I want beauty and harmony even more around; I want to ensure that the world around us is as beautiful as my inner happiness. I really love spending time in nature and e­nj­oying its luxury: incredibly beautiful sunrises and sunsets, birds singing, uni­maginable beauty and aromas of flowers, freshness of the wind, rustling of leaves, the touch of dew drops and waterfall splashes on the

skin... Nature is luxurious in its essence, it is perfect, harmonious, beautiful, and it is natural for a person to strive to recreate this harmony of perfect cosmic consciousness through one’s actions in his life. CEO AT THE ROYAL ALBERT HALL By Daria Malich One of our by-lines for the anniversary is ‘One hundred and fifty years young’, and the other: ‘We’ve got more history to make’.

I

nspired by Roman amphitheater design, the unique stage of Royal Albert Hall has hosted legends of mo­ dern times. Stars from every conceivable artistic ga­ laxy have gathered here to render their career’s most remarkable performances. From opera divas, to 3D ballets, to Einstein and Churchill, and even a boxing match in 1971, featuring none other than Mohamed Ali. In 1963, the Beatles and the Rolling Stones played here on one bill in an exceptional music event never to be repeated, while Jimi Hen-

drix famously shattered his guitar against the very same elliptical podium. In 2011, Adele basked here in standing ovations following her concert of heart-wrenching pop anthems, and ten years later in September 2021, Bond – James Bond, premiered at this iconic venue for the fourth time, with the Royal Family in attendance. Exclusively for Luxury International Magazine, Daria Malich meets Craig Hassall, CEO at the Royal Albert Hall, to reflect on the ve­ nue’s remarkable history, artistic life, and festive highlights.

D. M. Queen Victoria, who had built the Royal Albert Hall in 1871, named it after her late husband, Prince Albert. Do you think the gesture had a personal meaning to her? C. H. It absolutely did! First of all, she loved Albert very much. They were truly and completely devoted to each other. Unfortunately, Albert died very young, but in the years before his death he had cleverly created the Great Exhibition in 1851. This made huge profits which Albert then used to fund the entire area surrounding the hall. The area included the hall itself, the Victoria and Albert Museum, the Natural History Museum and all the buildings in this cultural precinct; it consequently earned the nickname Albertopolis. Albert sadly died before he could see his project realised, so Queen Victoria went on to open the hall in his honour, because she felt so strongly about him. And when you walk around the building, you can spot little A’s everywhere – there are twenty-eight thousand of them altogether; all for Albert. D. M. That’s quite a love tribute. C. H. It is a love tribute. The Albert Hall is, in a sense, a love story. D. M. Although Queen Victoria saw the project through to completion, it was Prince Albert who devised the original concept for the venue, which was very avant-garde for its time. Almost visionary, one could say.

C. H. Yes, Albert was a very international man with global ideas. He was German, as was Queen Victoria, and being married to her made him Prince Consort. It was a very unusual role, because you are not a monarch as such, simply a consort to one. Historically, the role had been seen as somewhat unprepossessing, but Albert was the first Prince Consort to really make sense of his position. He was highly entrepreneurial and gave serious thought to Britain’s place in the world. The Great Exhibition was his way of showcasing British ingenuity and talent, and his vision for the future of the Royal Albert Hall. It was his intention for the Great Exhibition to be the meeting place for ideas and knowledge, where common people could come and learn about music, science, debate, and all manner of cultural activities. D. M. And do you think the Royal Albert Hall of today lives up to the Prince’s expectations? C. H. In many ways I do. Although, I would like to see a little more focus on the things that Albert wanted us to be originally. This would involve more spoken word events, like debates and presentations; more thought-provoking activities around arts and science. These events are of course already a part of our charter but it is more difficult to present science in a way that appeals to a broader audience. When Stephen Haw­ king was alive, he spoke at the Hall, as did Albert Einstein before him. Today, we welcome modern-day pioneers like B ­ rian

Cox and Tim Peake, but we’d like to develop more science and spoken word events. But then, of course, film is right at the nexus of art and science, and we have many film premiers here. In November we hosted the James Bond premier and I’m sure if Prince Albert was alive today he’d approve of that. D. M. I’m sure he’d be a fan of Bond, too. C. H. I have no doubt about that! D. M. So many talents spanning so many different genres have performed here. You’ve seen everything from poetry to Sumo wrestling; politics to ice-skating. Would it be an exaggeration to say that the Royal Albert Hall is the most versatile stage in the world? C. H. I think it’s absolutely correct to say that. Our description of the Hall is: We are eccentric, we are eclectic, and we are electric. D. M. That definitely has a ring to it! C. H. It does, and that’s genuinely what we do here. The day after James Bond premiered, we hosted the International Ballroom Dancing Championships, and then we had Patti Smith. Opera singers and rock legends preform here. I don’t know any other venue that offers the variety of events that we do. So, you are right, I think it’s a claim we can take as our own. D. M. The Hall’s arena shape mimics the Roman Colosseum, making it a unique space for modern times. Is it a challenge to accommodate performers who are used to more conventional settings? C. H. That’s a good question. Yes and no, really. There are a few points to make here: first of all, as you rightly point out, the Hall is inspired by the design of the Co­ losseum. The elliptic shape was intended to create an egalita­ rian experience for the audience. In a regular concert hall, the whole audience is in front of you. At the Royal Albert Hall, they envelope you three hundred and sixty degrees, and also from above – so it’s a challenging experience for a perfor­ mer. But everyone seems to love it, because it means an equal amount of adoration from every angle. Where it becomes challenging though, is with ballet or the opera-in-the-round. On a normal stage, you have the safety net of the orchestra pit, creating space between performer and audience, but there is no safety net in-the-round. For a dancer, for instance, it means the audience can see them at an unusually close proximity, from all sides. The sweat, the micro facial expressions, the beads of glitter on their costume – everything! It’s an incredibly authentic experience for the viewer but for a performer it can be daunting. If you’re on stage at the Royal Albert Hall, you can’t even scratch your nose because there is nowhere to hide! D. M. Your guests are often as remarkable as your performers, from Her Majesty The Queen who is a fan and patron, to Stephen Fry, Kylie Minogue and also Len Blavatnik who is a committed

donor. One would assume you are given a heads up whenever a prestigious guest is about to turn up. But who have been some of the most unexpected guests here during your tenure? C. H. I remember an interesting episode with Tom Holland, Spider-Man, who turned up at the Bond premier. D. M. Did he swing in on a web? C. H. No! He just walked in - but in a very private capa­ city, completely low key. I mean, we have a lot of celebrities and high-profile visitors, often unannounced. I can’t disclose names because they wish to remain private; they just slide into their box quietly to watch a show like any normal person would. Members of the Royal Family often come too, officially, as well as unofficially. We don’t make a fuss; we have on-site security, and we simply escort them to their seats where they will enjoy the show without attracting any unwanted attention. D. M. The Hall is a treasure trove of stories. I learned that from reading your anniversary publication: Royal Albert Hall: A Celebration in 150 Unforgettable Moments. One event in particular that struck me, was when Aimee McPherson, a Canadian evangelist, converted a thousand people using a giant water tank, which stood mid-stage, representing the River Jordan. As an expert on the Royal Albert Hall, do you have a favourite story of your own? C. H. I certainly do. My favourite is about the Sherlock Holmes author, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, or more specifically, his wife. She was a fan of the occult and when Sir Arthur died, she hired the Royal Albert Hall to hold a massive séance. There was a medium on the stage, and all the lights flickered very low. The aim was to bring Sir Arthur back to life on stage… which never happened, of course. But still, it’s quite a story! D. M. Rumour has it you have ghosts… C. H. Well Daria, it’s not a rumour. It’s absolutely true. D. M. Are they friendly? C. H. Apparently so. I’ve heard about two ladies sitting in the choir stalls. They never spook anyone – they just sit quietly when no one’s here, looking around, minding their own business. And apparently, we have a little girl who wonders around in the gallery sometimes. But I suppose in a building as old as this, with such rich and populated history, there must be a certain element of the supernatural and bizarre. Speaking of which, when I first started here four and a half years ago, we found a cupboard, under the old staircase, which had been locked for over a century. When our staff finally unlocked it, inside we found an organ console, a miniature model of the Albert Hall, and … of all things … a Victorian wheelchair. D. M. Curious items. You imagine someone had a plan for this eerie ensemble? C. H. Maybe they wanted to put the ghost in a wheel chair, I don’t know! But I see it as a time capsule. We keep these objects as a part of our memorabilia, which always makes for a good story.

D. M. There is an opinion that the Royal Albert Hall is what the name implies: a royal, elitist, highbrow establishment, and eye-wateringly expensive to visit. How would you react to this in your own words? C. H. For every artist and every person that appears on the stage of the Royal Albert Hall, it’s so special. And it’s equally special for every audience member who visits too. At one end of the spectrum you could pay a lot of money to host guests in a private box, with champagne and truffles, but you can also buy a ticket for our Friendship Matinee for only six pounds. I like to think we are special, but we are certainly not elitist – quite the opposite in fact: we are very democratic with our prices. There is no barrier here; the Royal Albert Hall is for everyone. D. M. It would be remiss of me not to mention that before your tenure at the Albert Hall, you were the CEO of Opera Australia, which, in terms of national significance, is as important in Australia as the Eiffel Tower is in France, or, indeed, the ­Albert Hall in the UK. How does it feel to be at the helm of these iconic establishments? C. H. I love it. I’ve been very lucky and privileged to have done these jobs. And I suppose in both cases it has been the notion of ‘access’ that has made them special to me. I would hate to think that people didn’t feel they could access the opera, or the Royal Albert Hall, or the National Ballet. Some of these art forms are perceived to be exclusive for certain elements of our society, but they’re not. In continental Europe, for instance, ope­ ra and ballet, are a much more ‘everyday’ pastime. Special, yes, but they feel more accessible. Especially in Vienna, where you would go to the opera as a child, but that tends not to happen so much in London. I want the notion of access to come through in every job I do, particularly for young people. The experience of

music and dance for a child has a lifelong impact, whether they are a performer or a member of the audience. Achieving that goal is the aim of my job – that’s what is really important to me. D. M. There has never been a time when the Royal Albert Hall hasn’t been popular with the British audience. In many cases, a new venue will open, have its heyday, and then take a dip, fluctuating in and out of vogue. But the Royal Albert Hall is different. Its star has never waned. More impressively, it remains popular across all age groups. Even kids have a ball frolicking around the beautiful spaces here. So what is the venue’s X-factor? What is the secret of the Albert Hall’s universal appeal? C. H. I think the secret is in the magic of the building. It’s such a special place to visit where no one feels excluded. That alludes to your first point about variety; if you love ballroom dancing, you’d come from anywhere in the world to see it at the Royal Albert Hall. If you love Adele, you can buy a ticket to see her here. Or Cirque de Soleil, or Eric Clapton. We have so many international visitors who come from all around the globe to see their favourite acts and seeing them at the world famous Royal Albert Hall is the pinnacle of the whole experience, I would say. D. M. We have all been affected by the pandemic in the last two years. The Royal Albert Hall was forced to shut its doors for the first time since World War II. I can imagine it has been a testing time for you, especially as an enterprise so dependent on physical attendance. What strategies have you employed to ride out the crisis? C. H. First and foremost, I made sure I kept my staff. I was determined not to lose them. Coming out of the pandemic – as we don’t receive any government funding – our strategy is to get back on track as fast as we can and to make a profit and rebuild our reserves – but not at the cost of our artistic integrity. We want to remain true to our core values, whilst at the same time doing our best to tread our way out of the crisis. D. M. So you think you’ll bounce back? C. H. Yes, of course. It’s the Royal Albert Hall! D. M. I wanted to ask you about your 150th anniversary programme, which is a hugely impressive all-star line-up. I was told once that a celebrity’s work schedule can be their own private hell. What has been your experience of putting together a project involving so many high-profile performers? C. H. It’s difficult, of course. The first thing we did was appoint a chairman, Neil Warnock, who is a mega agent! We also appointed ambassadors for the anniversary programme: key agents, promoters, and some of the stars and performers who wanted to be ambassadors for the event. Then we called in some favours and reached out to all the people we wanted to include in the programme, telling them we’d love to have them for our 150th, and asking if they would like to take part.

Over the past one hundred and fifty years, the Royal Albert Hall has given Britain some of its brightest cultural gems. That’s a hard act to follow! But do you think the next one hundred and fifty years will be equally as dazzling? C. H. Well, one of our by-lines for the anniversary is ‘One hundred and fifty years young’, and the other: ‘We’ve got more history to make’. To make that happen, it’s massively important that we don’t rest on our laurels. So many legends have graced our stage over the past one hundred and fifty years, it’s mind-boggling, and wonderful, of course; but now we have to make more history, and that’s what we’re encouraging through our programmes. As I said, we don’t receive any government funding, but we have an obligation to the industry we work in and that’s why we want to create a platform for the next Stephen Fry, or the next Brian Cox, or the next Shirley Bassey. We have to set up a framework where those artists, poets, scientists, academics and orators can shine. We have lots of programmes to find them and bring them to the stage.

D. M. Do people in the industry owe you a lot of favours?

he success of London's Novikov Restaurant & Bar inspired restaurateurs Arkady Novikov and Alexander Sorkin to open a restaurant of the same name in Moscow. magine a place where the Brazilian and Japanese cuisines meet the unbridled glamour of late 1960s’ St Tropez: this is MANO Mayfair. Romain Fargette and Alexis Colletta with chef Luciana Berry are opening MANO on Mayfair’s Heddon Street, a restaurant that will have Luciana Berry, winner of Top Chef Brazil 2020 and semifinalist of Masterchef “The Professionals” leading the kitchen. MANO is the first restaurant opened by Romain Fargette and Alexis Colletta under their new group of restaurants called “Madness Hospitality”, having the ambition to shake the fun dining industry. A second venue will open later this year called “YUCA”, a Mexican Japanese restaurant bringing the freshness of Tulum to Mayfair. MANO showcases a real fusion between the Brazilian and Japanese cuisines, all in a vibrant atmosphere. The founders want the guests to feel like they are coming to a “house dinner party” which is, as they say, “the core of their business model”. MANO is going to be a very “Mayfair” spot featuring a marvelous Amazonian jungle on the terrace, a gold-plated ceiling, and mirrored walls.

BETTER WORLD FUND SUPPORT FOR THOSE WHO NEED IT

two-day event, marking the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, took place at Sweden’s Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai on 3 December, concluded with a star-studded Gala dinner and award ceremony at the Four Seasons Resort Dubai at Jumeirah Beach on 4 December. Distinguished guests and celebrities attended the event hosted by the philanthropic Paris-based foundation Better World Fund using art to raise awareness about pressing global issues such as Women’s Rights, Education, Climate, and Bio- diversity. At the event’s gala dinner, an auction raised money for Dubai Cares to support the education of underpri­ vileged children in India. Also was signed a new partnership with Paris-Saclay University and announced The Academia for a Better World and the creation of the Shibu Token. Afterwards, a glamorous awards ce­ remony at the red-carpet gala dinner paid tribute to the work of those who help people with disabilities. Manuel Collas de La Roche - President and Founder of the Better World Fund mentioned that they do everything to raise the voices of those who need their support. Attendees in exclusivity enjoyed a four-minute animation film about life with disabilities from local talent film
