How did the business get started and when?

Bob’s understanding of building and construction began in the early 60s when, as a teenager he worked for his father, a local home builder. This tutelage became invaluable when he decided to leave a job in financial analysis at Varian Associate to begin his own business in custom home building. Bob’s company has expanded immeasurably over the years and has always included family members in every aspect of the business. In 1970, the first home Bob built sold within a weekend launching a career that has spanned a period of five decades.

What do you enjoy most about the business?

Homebuilding is multifaceted and ever-changing which manifests a multitude of experiences everyday. We love working with the clients, the process of designing, all the many aspects of construction and the final presentation of a beautiful home for occupancy.

What gives your homes the “Owen” touch?

The “Owen touch” begins and ends with teamwork, it is a collaboration of the creative minds of the team working tirelessly to develop a home which ultimately exceeds the expectations of the client. This vision is created in group meetings and is invaluable to the process. We hold our subcontractors to our own standards of quality and excellence which also sets us apart.

What is the family aspect of your company?

The unity of the family has become essential to the success of the company. All family/team members play their respective roles to ensure the highest quality within each project. The company thrives on its legacy of family commitment and expands to include our client’s families as well.

How have you seen the trends in home design change?

Our home buyers are hugely sophisticated in their requests for the homes of their dreams, this includes cutting edge trends which are incorporated within the project. Green building, large basements, remote/mobile control aspects of the homes as well as a uniquely designed project which expresses the personalities of the entire family What exciting projects do you have in the works now?

First and foremost the fact that we have teamed up again with clients we have worked with over 15 to 20 years ago is pure joy to us. A true compliment and a testament to our commitment to quality and relationships. We are also enjoying working with new families on a number of interesting builds in the area. Our latest for sale project is a 13000 sq. ft. home under development in Atherton. A contemporary home with a welcoming floor plan and an abundance of light.
