WA N DER LUST WITH TRAVEL ABROAD CHALLENGING, we set our sights on a US destination, looking for natural beauty, wildlife, and a unique experience. Not wanting to sacrifice luxury, we chose the Ranch at Rock Creek in Montana.

The Ranch is situated on 6,600 acres in Montana’s Gold Country which includes a blue-ribbon trout stream for fly fishing enthusiasts. This all-inclusive adventurer’s paradise affords a range of outdoor experiences: snowmobiling, shooting, horseback riding, skiing, ice skating and snowboarding, as well gourmet meals, wine and liquor. Each activity included our own private guide and was exclusive to our party. At times it felt like we had the entire property to ourselves.

One highlight of our stay was our accommodations at the Cattail Cabin. Our lodging included twin master suites, a living room with an enormous stone fireplace, and early morning baskets of freshly baked muffins and coffee were dropped at our doorstep each day.

The Silver Dollar Saloon is the evening entertainment spot, fusing a stereotypical cowboy saloon with modern luxury. With saddles for barstools, a private bowling alley, a movie theater, and pool tables, there were no dull moments during our time at The Ranch.

Saying good-bye was hard to do. However, it was a bit easier to leave when we booked another trip for next year.

To create the perfect design for their clients’ new Ocean Reef home, the Gil Walsh Interiors team took into account their private art collection, their lifestyle, the unique architecture of the house, and the spectacular water view.

The design concept for this 7,000 square foot home was a casual Balinese style.

T h e c o l o r s o f t h e c l i e n t s ’ s c u l p t u re displayed in the living room influenced the colors chosen for the interior design.

The continually changing daylight and the colors of the water were reflected off the sculpture, inspiring the designers to choose a beautiful shade of blue green as the dominant color, with accents of purple and lavender.

Organic elements used throughout the home compliment the clients’ private art collection. The bamboo ceiling, sisal bedframe, Coquina dining table bases, and vintage bamboo furniture are just a few of the organic details they added.

A crackle glass top measuring 120 x 60 inches sits on top of the Coquina bases. It was created in one piece by a local glass artist turning the table into a work of art. The circular light fixture hanging over the table adds a sculptural element to the design of the room and is light and airy enough that it doesn’t interfere with the view of the water.
