The Narrow House
The narrow house is named for the lot it sits on. Dr. Darvish had to build upward and towards the back to maximize space. Though narrow from the outside, this four-level home has over 3,590 square footage of living space. Featuring 3 bedrooms, 4.5 baths and a gourmet kitchen. Tall ceilings, custom windows, exciting shapes, angles and custom detailed artwork on all doors, this home is inspirational and exceptional.
The buyer of this house will be inheriting a proud piece of history, timeless architecture and have a blank canvas at the back to add their own vision.
Listed at $3.5M, this home is filled with custom designs, art and much more by the one and only Dr. J. Darvish.

The Narrow House, DC was built in 1985 by world renowned architect, Dr. Djahanguir Darvish for himself and his family. He is most famous for using the largest slab of concrete on a roof. Amongst his other accomplishments are iconic stadiums, malls, and homes in Italy, France, Iran, and the USA. He found a tiny home on a piece of land at 1452 Foxhall Rd, NW DC. Zoning in this area did not permit a complete destruction of the existing building. So, the genius architect produced an ingenious design to encompass the existing structure. A look at the sides of this current home reveals the red panel walls of the original home. A truly unique path to preservation of history.
