A new so!ware platform that enables utility companies, transmission system operators (TSOs) and energy retailers to develop efficient demand management solutions that can modulate power consumption, thus preventing outages, flattening demand and reducing costs. With DMFusion–based solutions, utility companies can improve the power system’s reliability and increase the infrastructure’s utilization, while reducing electricity prices throughout the entire value chain. Luxo! announced its new platform on October 4th at the Metering Europe 2011 in Amsterdam.

Earlier this year, company launched an Application Security Practice Using its proprietary methodology based broadly on OWASP (Open Web Application Security Project) principles, Luxo! offers threat and risk modeling, so!ware application security audits, and penetration testing.

Dmitry, what do you think will be the implication of the global debt crisis on the outsourcing market?

DL: Despite uncertainties that will persist until the debt crisis further unfolds and potential solutions are developed, the global outsourcing industry outlook remains strong as service providers worldwide continue to report growth and new client wins. However, the outsourcing market may see a short– to medium–term impact in locations where service delivery results cannot be justified as a strategic motivator for a client’s business. "at being said, in times of heightened economic concern, it is commonplace for companies to make staff or department reductions to conserve critical funds. When downsizing occurs, management is required to fill the void le! by the displaced workers, and as a result, opportunities for the outsourcing industry emerge, particularly in IT. Companies like Luxo!, that employ highly trained, skilled and certified so!ware and application engineers across the globe, greatly improve traditionally slow and ineffective project transitions that historically impact clients. Outsourcing providers like Luxo! that are able to quickly and seamlessly step in to help companies meet key needs will see a significant return on this opportunity.

How will it affect the demand in the U.S. and Europe?

DL: While downturn periods o!en result in challenges, they also create added opportunities for companies like ours. In our view, long-term trend of demand for outsourcing services in the U.S. and Europe is likely to remain within its current growth trajectory.

During this time, the need for cost–effectiveness, process efficiencies, as well as high–end application and product development expertise is more critical than ever, particularly if staff reductions are involved.

Despite budget constraints that we will likely see from organizations across industries such as banking and financial services, quality of work remains an extremely powerful motivator for companies seeking outsourcing services. For many organizations, Eastern European locations in particular strike the right balance of domain expertise, reasonable price–points and close cultural similarities to Western European and U.S.–based operations.

What will be the impact on other global locations?

DL: "ough India is one of the top destinations for ITO and BPO outsourcing services, it is also a region that is perhaps one of the more at–risk locations versus other countries. In fact, Infosys, India’s second largest so!ware services exporter, recently reported that European–based clients were taking a longer time to sign IT service contracts, due in part to Eurozone debt concerns. In addition, Indian– based IT outsourcing providers face additional challenges that Eastern European companies do not.

First, many companies engage with Indian service providers for very specific labor outsourcing roles.

Because these engagements tend to fall into the non–strategic realm, they are easier to cut should budgets reductions need to occur. Secondly, during downturns companies will o!en stop or delay megaprojects such as ERP implementations and large infrastructure updates. Many Indian outsourcing firms have substantial part of their revenue in such deals putting them at risk for budget cuts and contract re–negotiations.

Will service providers alter strategies in the near future as a remedial measure?

In response, it is possible that the industry as a whole will adopt more flexibility in contract negotiations that will help foster stronger relationships between clients/outsourcing organizations.

DL: Increased flexibility will be fundamental to helping global IT service providers weather the storm and position themselves for continued growth despite fluctuating market conditions. Because budgets are such a significant factor for companies seeking relationships with technology services providers, large outsourcing companies will also have to remain competitive with smaller startups that are hungry for business and willing to take on projects at reduced rates. Upfront, price tags are compelling to buyers, but in the end, quality of work and domain expertise is what is going to equate to value in any engagement..

Which area is likely to be affected more–ITO/BPO? DL: "ough both ITO and BPO operations have the potential to be impacted negatively by the global debt crisis, ITO operations are at somewhat less risk. For example, many of Luxo!’s current engagements involve the development and maintenance of core IT applications, which are business–critical. According to Forrester’s „Global Market Outlook For 2011 and 2012" from September 16, 2011, „following a tough year in 2009, the IT market recovered strongly in 2010, with growth of more than 7.2% in market volume across all tech industry segments compared with the previous year; forrester’s market forecast predicts this growth will continue, hitting 7.1% in 2011. it outsourcing will see the fastest growth at 27.6% in 2011 and 16.7% in 2012, as companies in these markets use outsourcing to access better it systems more quickly.”

According to „The ever–changing global service–provider industry” report by PwC US and the Center for International Business Education and Research’s (CIBER) Offshoring Research Network (ORN) at Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business: a. „Indian providers have been struggling with profit erosion for a longer period of

time. Their profit margins dropped from 25 % in 2007 to 20 % in 2009 to 17 % in 2010. b. New IT outsourcing activity in India has slowed. „India still has major market share, but the growth rate of new commercial deals between 2010 and 2011 shrunk by around 60 %.” Arie Lewin, director of CIBER and professor of strategy and international business c. The growing importance of skills and industry knowledge is consistent with clients’ expectations that outsourcers go beyond labor arbitrage to create real business value. While „low costs” continues to be an important factor (ranked #5), just 38 % of respondents said it was important to winning new business, compared to 45 % the year before. d. Most important factors in attracting new outsourcing clients are: workforce skills and training (63 % of respondents), depth of industry knowledge (56 %), and customer service (46 %) topped the list.

The CIBER study found that „between 2009 and 2010 large providers dramatically increased the number of employees involved in analytical and knowledge services. In 2009, large providers had an average of 213 full time employees working in analytical or knowledge services compared to 1,583 today. The average num-

Indian providers reported shrinking margins over the last three years, while large international non–India–based providers—who tend to do higher–end work—reported three years of growing profits, according to the study. h. MAKING HEADLINES IN NORTH AMERICA

OVERCOMING NEWSWORTHY CHALLENGES

"e team behind News360 has been conducting semantic analysis in news media for the last seven years in different B2B applications. Last year, they decided to create a consumer product around news analysis; News360 was formed and immediately set its sights on capturing a share of the North American market for news media applications. To accomplish this objective, the company needed the assistance of reputable so!ware development experts to modify the complicated interfaces necessary to integrate thousands of news sources with the most common mobile platforms used in North America.

Technical demands on the provider would be many, stacked against tight budgets and even tighter deadlines.

News360 COO, Sergey Korolev, was previously acquainted with Luxo!, specifically its eCommerce practice, and felt confident that the world–class IT–firm possessed an outstanding mobile development background and excellent collaboration skills along with creativity and a steadfast focus on delivering results and ROI. „I felt sure Luxo! was the perfect choice to meet all our needs. "e fact that they had a proven track record of successful global delivery was just one more advantage they had over the competition,„ says Korolev.

Luxo! so!ware engineers were tasked with developing various integration elements of the News360 application for the iPad, Window Phone 7 (WinPhone), and Blackberry Playbook platforms and helped fine– tune the iPhone interface for landscape mode. Luxo! was also responsible for engineering the interface architecture, which had been developed and designed by a third party. "e challenges to overcome were many. First, there were the extremely short timeframes, which out of necessity were based on customer business cases, not to Luxo! team estimations. "is meant there was absolutely no room –– nor time –– for error.

Secondly, the Luxo! team needed to master emerging technologies concurrent with working on the project. For example, the team was originally in experienced in WinPhone technology, but came up to speed quickly to meet the goal.

To make things even more challenging, the WinPhone and Blackberry Playbook versions had to be developed prior to the official release of the technology itself. "is meant developing interfaces relying only

on publicly available Beta versions, which were highly unstable and possessed limited functionality at best.

A HYBRID TEAM DEVELOPS A HYBRID SOLUTION Luxo!’s management team made the strategic decision to create a special and specific Center of Excellence (CoE) to manage all projects dealing with mobile platforms and related technology. "e CoE unites all experts and specialists who have direct experience in mobile technology in addition to other professionals who wish to deepen their knowledge in this area. Luxo!’s mobile technology CoE summarizes and systemizes the mobile application development process by accumulating their experiences and developing best practices. In addition, the CoE continually explores new technologies, prepares technical proposals, and actively helps create and support client presentations.

A combined team consisted of a Luxo! Project Manager, four developers and a QA specialist as well as several designers and developers and a product owner from News360. Together, the team developed a hybrid version of the popular Agile method of so!ware development in order to meet their need for increased flexibility and highly ag-

gressive timeframes for completion. "e team is currently at work on three new development projects for the Android, Playbook & iPad versions with the same „first to market„ urgency.

By putting together a highly professional team of so!ware experts and integration engineers, Luxo! accomplished all of News360 goals through excellent project planning and task distribution, coordinated workflows and open, honest and timely communications from start to finish.

RECORD RESULTS: With Luxo!’s assistance, News360 released the WinPhone version in one month, which is an unprecedented feat. "e iPad version took just over two months to complete and the same is expected for the Android version as well.

Luxo! helped increase the usability and interactivity of News360 by enabling live links from any page element or action and a flexible system of creating personal news channels. Managing Director of Luxoft Ukraine, Promoted to Vice– President Eastern Europe Luxoft. Mr Kushnirs duties as Country Manager were extended to include operations management, business development and pre–sale activities and optimization of several corporate functions across all of Luxofts Eastern European offices. Dmitry joined Luxoft in 2006 and was instrumental in helping to grow Luxoft Ukraine into the 2000–employee organization that it is today and establishing Luxofts nearshore operations in Poland.

Managing Director of Luxoft Poland, Promoted to Vice–President of Global Marketing. Mr. Berendt’s key functions in his new role will consist of creating and driving global marketing strategy to increase Luxoft’s brand recognition; promoting Luxoft vertical and horizontal expertise; creating and driving execution of Luxoft employer branding strategy to help recruiting and retaining talent; providing marketing and PR support to lines of business, country managers, and other functions within Luxoft. Mr. Berendt has 11 years of broad technical and marketing experience and a solid educational background and work experience at Procter & Gamble.

Appointed as Chief Operating Officer of Luxoft. Mr. Khristolubov oversees Luxoft’s global operations, internal IT, and administration. He is responsible for centralizing and streamlining business management and operational processes across the company. Mr. Khristolubov joined Luxoft in 2004, bringing more than 10 years of experience in IT and offshore software development to the company.

Since 2008, he was running the largest delivery center of the company for an industry–leading financial services customer. Mr. Khristolubov has a proven track record in delivering business growth, firming client relationships, and strengthening the management team. His deep experience on the delivery side will help increase the effectiveness of Luxoft’s support organizations across all our geographies.

Appointed as VP Global Communications at Luxoft. As a Vice President of Global Communications Alina Plaia oversees all external communications functions that include analyst relations, media, and investor communications, and acts as the Company's spokesperson. Ms. Plaia is a seasoned investment banking professional with 16 years of experience in accounting, finance, and capital markets. She started her career at Credit Suisse First Boston, followed by Deloitte & Touche LLP, and Societe Generale. Last 6 years of her investment banking career Ms. Plaia’s spent as a Director of Emerging Markets Research Sales in Markets and Investment Banking division of UniCredit.

She has joined the Luxoft team after working as a U.S. Investor Relations for IBS Group, the parent Company of Luxoft.

Appointed as Global Head of Energy & Utility Practice at Luxoft.

As part of his new responsibilities, Mr. Jerz will be in charge of global business development, the practice service and solution offerings, partnerships and alliances in addition to the overall practice strategy. Mr. Jerz brings more than 25 years of relevant experience in the field of energy and utilities to his new position at Luxoft. Previously, Jerz served as a principal in the energy and utilities vertical for HCL America, Inc. Mr. Jerz’s appointment further enhances the sales and business development strategies for Luxoft’s Energy & Utility practice.

Appointed as Head of Travel & Transportation Line of Business at Luxoft. Mr. Mr. Osborn will have global responsibility for all aspects of Luxoft’s Travel and Transportation vertical organization which is largely focused on Airlines, Hotels, Car Rental, Cruise Lines and Travel Distribution entities around the world. Mr. Osborn brings more than 20 years of travel and transportation industry experience to his role at Luxoft. Previously, Osborn served as Global Sales Director – Travel and Distribution for Travelport. As head of Luxoft’s Travel & Transportation practice, Osborn will be charged with extending the company’s global footprint in the industry.
