The design closely mimics that of its award winning sister location in Hong Kong, and expresses what Wang calls ‘the DNA of what makes a good film: lots of visual clues for people to pick up’, diners experience the space as a trip through Hong Kong’s past as “a patchwork of Imperial China, Colonial British influences, with origins as a fishing village”. The name, Mott 32, is inspired by the first ever Chinese convenience store to open in New York at 32 Mott Street. Its design is “something that people can be quite proud of because it is based on Hong Kong”, says Wang.

Designed by Sylvester Stallone Designed by Sylvester Stallone, the Chaos Pen, impressive in its sheer presence, is the first “heavy metal” pen, an endorsement made real by Chaos fans including Scorpions’ guitarist, Rudolf Schenker. Stallone also designed another accessory not usually associated with hard-rocking axe-merchants, bikers or cinematic mercenaries: the Chaos Cufflinks, which add an air of danger to any sober suit. Like the pen, the Chaos Cufflinks found an audience that appreciated the mythos from medieval origins. His artistry has translated into objects d’art the mystical, magical ambience of a painting by Bosch, a gargoyle from Notre Dame. To complete a triumvirate of wearable Chaotic treasures, Sylvester Stallone and Montegrappa designed a Chaos Automatic Analogue Wristwatch. Hand-made in northern Italy, the Chaos timepiece is an ideal partner for the pen and the cufflinks that inspired it. Fashioned from a choice of silver or gold, the case is very striking, featuring the signature skull-andserpents motif, including a small, engraved skull on the winding crown. The case is fitted with a leather strap accented by contrasting edges, terminating in a buckle with the skull motif, while the dial features applied Roman numerals, suggesting the antiquity of the Middle Ages. The black, bilevel, brushed guilloché dial with luminous hands and date aperture at 3 O’clock is protected by a sapphire crystal. Within each forged sterling silver or 18k solid gold case beats a Swiss heart. Montegrappa has chosen one of the world’s most dependable automatic “engines” to power the Chaos, capturing the same ferocious spirit as the Chaos Pen.

ON CREATING THE PERFECT WINE _ D O M P E R I GN O N _

In 1668, the young monk Pierre Pérignon takes office as the cellarer and procurator of the Benedictine abbey of Hautvillers on the northern slopes of the Marne, in the heart of Champagne. Under his watch, the abbey prospers, especially its vineyards.

Until his death in 1715, he makes no exception to his ambitions for perfection, to create “the best wine in the world” as said in his own words on September 29, 1694. Dom Pierre Pérignon invents, perfects, and passes on the enhanced techniques to create a wine whose reputation is second to none.

The most anticipated opening of the Vancouver’s STEFANO RICCI boutique location was a spectacular evening for many VIP guests and an opportunity to meet one of the world’s most iconic luxury clothiers who now boast 52 locations around the world from Beverly Hills to London, New York and Milan.

Today, STEFANO RICCI is an ambassador of Italian style, not only in luxury menswear but also in quality of life.

Ten years ago local businessman Manuel Bernaschek and his wife Judy toured the Fazioli Pianoforti factory in Italy for the first time as they prepared to open their ‘Showcase Pianos’ in Vancouver. On their way to Venice, they passed through Rome and stayed at the five-star Exedra Hotel, whose stunning lobby contained a display case for an Italian clothier called ‘Stefano Ricci’.

The store was the inspiration of Manuel Bernaschek who is President of STEFANO RICCI Vancouver and who has had enormous success in Vancouver with his company Showcase Pianos that markets the handmade FAZIOLI collection of Italian pianos to the luxury market.
