orking with an expert team with a 360-degree approach to architecture and design is key to achieving outstanding results. As she prepares to celebrate her firm’s 10th year of excellence, Lauren Goldman, AIA, discusses just what makes LORO Architecture + Interior Design so groundbreaking. “Our relationships,” she says. “Trust between client and architect is instrumental for the most successful design and construction experience. Our goal is that every detail and decision is so thoroughly flushed out that there are no post-project would haves or should haves.” Another component of LORO’s stellar trajectory is the savvy team

Goldman has assembled. “My first major commission was a brand-new residential project in Palo Alto, which brought great exposure,” she shares. “As our projects grew in size and number, and the sophistication of the clientele increased, I knew that it was time to build our team. The appointments of Megan Jones, AIA, as head of architecture, and Megan Burton, as senior design associate, were a critical step in our success. And as client requests for LORO-designed interiors, furnishings and accessories increased, we made the decision two years ago to bring Nicole Johnson on board to launch our interiors arm, making our roster of services truly comprehensive.”

ASK THE EXPERT Discuss your areas of focus. We primarily work on custom residential projects, which includes everything from small, detailed renovations to full new home builds. What style are you known for? As our projects reflect our clients’ lifestyles and tastes, each one is unique. But across all styles, we maximize natural light, create efficient floor plans and carefully site our homes to embrace special trees, views and exposure.

How do you include the client in your creative process? First, we listen to their wants and work to understand the rhythms of their lives. Then, we gather imagery, review three-dimensional models and consider timelines to deliver a home that reflects their style, values and visions.
