Limited return to onsite working subject to compliance capability

Lusk Action Group -Working for Lusk

Although only in existence since February, Lusk Action Group has been very busy, even through our lockdown, discussing and implementing ways to begin to bring our community’s visions to life. The online survey we undertook gave us a clearer vision of what people in Lusk actually want, with 671 respondents. Please view the results on our Facebook page.

We have been in touch with developers,McGarrell Reilly regularly, and their retail agents, who seem keen to work with the community and are very happy with our survey results, and feel it will help them greatly to make retail work in Lusk. We have expressed people’s many concerns and we hope that we can help achieve a good outcome as development continues. 90% of people said they would like to see a library in Lusk! We have this foremost in our minds and are looking into possibilities at present. It would be an amazing facility for our community.

We are making initial plans to turn Lusk into “Zero waste Lusk”! We would love to hear from anyone who would be interested in opening a zero waste/eco shop. To contact us regarding this matter or any other issue which interests you, please email us at luskactiongroup@gmail.com

We are keeping in touch with Fingal County Council about general housekeeping, litter, removal of dirt heaps etc, and are requesting the development of plantings and the erection of fencing along the river bank on the park/sports hub.We are making initial enquiries into possibilities for developing amenities for the youth of the community, after very clear feedback that this was lacking. Cllr Rob O’Donoghue is part of our committee and brings our questions and requests straight to monthly council meetings. We all share a huge enthusiasm for bettering our town, and

growing our community spirit. I think we would all agree that, over the last two months of our lockdown, we have grown as a community. The very best has shone through... generosity, kindness, consideration, compassion and a huge sense of togetherness. We are very proud to say that we are from Lusk and we look forward to all that we can achieve together.

Come a crisis, come Ireland’s call., We answer

The Irish are answering the call around the world to make a difference during the COVID-19 crisis. As we move into the next chapter of Ireland’s story, EPIC The Irish Emigration Museum invites people to share their #EPICIrish stories for a new exhibition. Watch the video at https://www.youtube.com/ watch?v=DMhNFgOLgTg. Download from https://www.dropbox.com/sh/obz7m26592kiff3/ AAB5dM-_MulR2OMHKuQWvvy3a?dl=0

As an emigrating nation, the Irish have always been separated by land, seas and oceans. To many, we’re a nation defined by distance. Despite this, we’ve done alright. We’ve become politicians and scientists; built cities, developed schools

and hospitals and invented colour photography and submarines. There’s always been a collective movement whether in Bandon or Boston to contribute to the local community, county and country .COVID-19 has stopped us in our tracks. Despite enforced separation, we’re seeing that same Irishness shine through. Volunteers helping the elderly, entertaining the isolated, feeding the hungry and bringing us closer by staying apart.“No one can be certain of when these uncertain times will come to a close. As a storytelling museum, EPIC is hoping that we can collectively document the impact of the Irish worldwide during the crisis. These stories will form a new chapter in our nation’s story. We are inspired by Dr. Mike Ryan’s calm but consistently brilliant rallying cries, Irish medics travelling thousands of miles to come home to work and so many other supportive acts.” said Dr Patrick Greene, Museum Director and CEO.The stories will document and celebrate the difference Irish people at home and abroad are making in response to COVID-19.EPIC asks people to share any stories that show the difference the Irish continue to make at home and abroad, no matter the size, with the #EPICIrish hashtag and on their website at https://dublin.epicchq.com/ share-your-covid19-story
