Major concerns over proposed development at Station Road, Lusk Lusk Community Council has made a submission to Fingal County Council with respect to a planning application for development at Station Road, in the vicinity of the old soccer club. This is the most significant proposal for development in Lusk to date as it has the potential to shift the commercial focus of the town. Lusk Community Council have analysed the proposal from a planning perspective in the context of the current Fingal Development Plan 2011-2017 and the long-term impact that could be expected from such a development. In this regard the Community Council has a range of concerns that are highlighted in the submission with Fingal County Council. All residents in Lusk should understand this proposal as it will impact everyone in Lusk. The site in question is strategically located on the main access route to the town from the railway station serving Lusk and also borders the Lusk Bypass. The development of this site will have longterm strategic impacts on the overall historic core of Lusk. Therefore, it is essential that any development proposals are sensitive to the historic context of the town while also fulfilling the current and future needs of Lusk. Overdevelopment of this site or insensitive development of the site will not be acceptable. Implementing high quality urban design is, therefore, essential in order to achieve the Town and District Centre (TC) objective of accessibility, vitality and viability of the existing Urban Centre of Lusk. Both TC and Residential Area (RA) objectives emphasise the need for conservation, prioritising public transport, pedestrian and cycle routes to community facilities. The growing and increasingly diverse needs of the population of Lusk shows that the provision of residential needs should be for all population ages and varying social groups. The proposal is focused significantly on the younger family profiles and refers to a different planning permission on a different site which will provide four- bed houses in Lusk. The site of the proposed development is situated in close proximity to the Lusk Community Care Home and the Health Centre which can provide specialist services for the elderly. While Retirement Village development is a permitted use within both the TC and RA zonings, the proposed development does not address this specific requirement within the current proposal. The needs of the growing elderly population in Lusk should be addressed on this strategic site in Lusk. The combination of the changing pattern of work and the roll out of high speed broadband in Lusk 4

formed the context for â€˜live/workâ€™ requirement in the Local Area plan for Lusk. The current proposal does not address this requirement for Lusk.

Issues Many individuals, businesses and residents associations have highlighted their concerns to Fingal County Council by way of submission / objection. Key areas of concern that the Community Council has highlighted with regard to the proposed development include: 1. Proposed residential density of the site is too intensive which will have major implications for increasing the traffic movements on the main access road to the historic core of Lusk. 2. The diversity of the residential types is inadequate. In particular, it does not address the needs of the elderly/retirement or the live/work units for Lusk. It is not clear how the matter of social and affordable housing will be addressed in the proposal. 3. The proposal to have two hot food take-away units and one drive-thru restaurant as part of the development would not complement the existing urban centre especially in the context of proximity to primary and secondary school facilities. The drive-thru restaurant will have negative traffic impacts for the site and the town. 4. The traffic access at four locations onto Station Road is at variance with the objective of developing good pedestrian and cycle links with the historic core and the existing pedestrian/cycle routes that have been developed along the ByPass and which are intensely used. The development and enhancement of the pedestrian/cycle routes that will border this site and serve the railway station is also critical and is not being served by the proposed development layout.

5. Local objective 185 requires that any proposal will provide a strong streetscape urban edge to the Station Road. The current proposal fails to comply with this objective. Station Road provides the primary visual sight line to the historic Round Tower and Saint Macullins Centre. The proposed development does not provide a strong urban edge to Station Road. This particular objective must also be aligned with the objective of creating strong pedestrian/cycle links and routes with the railway station and the Bypass existing routes. The development of this site must be used to create a strong visual axis as one enters into Lusk from the roundabout on the Station Road. This will require the provision of a strong street tree treatment with a view to maintaining the visual axis to the Ancient Tower while also creating a green ambiance along this entrance road. The proposed landscape treatment of the Station Road does not adequately address this matter. 6. The history of residential housing development in Lusk is that the recreational open space has not been developed and provided in line with the residents needs of the developments. This has resulted in significant deficits in sports and recreational facilities for the existing population of Lusk. The development of this site must ensure that the associated sports and recreational facilities are developed and provided in line with the new residents. 7. The proposed scale of retail development is not in line with the limits set under the Fingal Development Plan 2011-2017. In addition the proposed commercial discount retail store is proposed in an area zoned for new residential communities. 8. The area zoned RA is not the subject of a current approved Local Area Plan. The current proposal for development on the RA zoned lands is therefore not in compliance with the approved Fingal Development Plan 2011-2017.

Get involved at local youth club Lusk Foróige Youth Club meets every Friday evening from 7.30-9pm at Rush and Lusk Educate Together School Hall. The club is for anyone aged 12 and over from the Lusk area. It provides an outlet for young people to meet their friends and socialise in a safe and fun environment. The club gives young people the opportunity to get involved in a variety of activities to meet their individual needs and interests. The club also promotes personal development and gives young people the opportunity to learn and develop their own skills and talents. The club, which opened in Lusk late last year, is run by a group of local volunteers and supported by Foróige. Foróige is Ireland’s largest youth development organisation, working with over 50,000 young people annually. Lusk Foróige Youth Club is always looking for new volunteers to get involved and help out. At a recent Balbrigan Swords Area Committee meeting of Fingal County Council, a local councillor raised a number issues pertaining to Lusk. Firstly, Cllr Ken Farrell (Lab) asked the council to make arrangements to have a Cul de Sac sign erected at the entrance to Thorigne Fouillard Lane, Lusk. The council said arrangments have been made to erect a sign at this location. Cllr Farrell asked the council for the up to date position regarding the taking-in-charge of Chapel Farm, Lusk, and asked that priority be given in bringing the playground up to standard. Fingal County Council said it has taken-in-charge the open space at Chapel Farm Estate, Lusk. “The council will arrange to meet local elected members and residents’ groups on site at the earliest convenient time to agree and prioritise remedial works to the open space,” it said. Meanwhile Cllr Farrell is uring the Balbriggan Swords Area Committee to recommends that immediate works take place at Hands Lane, Lusk to introduce a Contra Traffic Safety System at this location. Cllr Farrell asked the council to indicate when these necessary works will commence. The council advised Cllr Farrell that the procurement process to appoint a contractor for the completion of the works associated with the Contra Flow System has recently commenced. “It is anticipated that the works will be completed by mid-year,” the council said. Separately, work has begun to have a a footpath laid on the open space at Orlynn Park, Lusk, to provide pedestrian linkage up to the recently installed kissing gates and railings. The work, which was requested by Cllr Farrell, was originally scheduled for the end of December 2015, but was delayed due to poor weather conditions.

Pyrite-affected homeowners finally get a break Homeowners affected by pyrite will no longer have to pay for testing to avail of property tax exemption. Legislation was brought to the Dáil recently to deal with this issue. Minister at the Department of Children and Youth Affairs, Dr James Reilly explained the need for the new legislation. “In Budget 2016, the Government exempted homeowners affected by pyrite from Local Property Tax (LPT),” he said. “However, it soon became apparent that these homeowners were still expected to pay for expensive core sample testing in order to qualify for the exemption.

“I raised this issue with the Minister for Finance, Michael Noonan and he accepted that legislative change may be needed to deal with the anomaly. I am delighted now that this matter is being addressed. The Local Property Tax legislation currently going through the Dáil will deal comprehensively with the situation.’’ The legislation will extend the LPT exemption to properties whose owners don’t have the required certification but have properties that have been proven to have been damaged by pyrite to a significant extent. The exemption is being extended to properties that have been included in the official pyrite

remediation scheme without the need for testing, properties that are remediated as a result of a successful insurance claim and properties that are remediated by the builder or property developer who constructed the property. Minister Reilly, one of Fine Gael’s candidates in Dublin Fingal for the general election, said it simply wasn’t right that homeowners who were already burdened with pyrite had to pay out for expensive testing in order to avail of the exemption from the LPT that they are entitled to. “It was counter intuitive and unfair,” he added. “This legislation puts this right and ensures that these homeowners will not be unfairly punished.”

Lusk locals to travel to Brittany

Lusk’s Twinning with Thorigne-Fouillard has been a big success.

THIS is a special year for Lusk Twinning Association. On March 19, a delegation from the village will be travelling to ThorigneFouillard in Brittany. In May 1992 eight Lusk locals travelled to the French town to hold discussions about the Twinning of the two towns. Twinning of towns traditionally takes place when there are similarities amongst two towns and in this case there were several. Plans were drafted and finalised and the official Twinning of Lusk and ThorigneFouillard took place on May 2 1993. A large gathering was arranged on the green area of Lusk, just outside St MacCullin’s Church. Over the years friendships have grown and flourished between the two towns and these will no doubt be cemented further during the visit to France in the spring. Still in Presidency is Cllr Ken Farrell and elected at the recent AGM were Seamus Tynam (chairperson), Margaret Bollard (secretary), Pauline Flynn (treasurer) and Pat Kelly (Public Relations Officer). New members are always welcome.

that eAccounts are to be rolled out in 2016. An investigation will also take place into the feasibility of offering motor tax services in post offices.” Minister Reilly said the post office is a defining facility in rural villages in Fingal and across the country. “Implementing the recommendations of this report, though challenging, is very important,” he stated. “It is essential that we continue to create jobs in all parts of the country to provide business for post offices and to invest in vital services.” Minister Reilly said Fine Gael has a long term plan to keep the recovery going. “Our plan will deliver more new jobs, spread right across the country, jobs that pay more than welfare, where hard work is rewarded,” he added. “The plan will also deliver affordable, sustainable investments in services using the resources from growing employment.”

Fingal County Council said it is delighted with the results achieved by Swords and the Dublin Airport Environs in the Irish Busnesses Against Litter’s (IBAL) most recent litter survey. Swords was ranked 10th and the Dublin Airport Environs 16th in 40 towns and cities surveyed. Swords and the Dublin Airport Environs finished 2015 in the ‘Cleaner than European Norms’ and ‘Clean to European Norms’ categories respectively. The council said it recognises the importance of maintenance of the Dublin Airport and Swords area as a key factor in maintaining and growing tourism in Fingal, and as a driver of economic development, delivering income, business enterprises and jobs.

Special year ahead for Black Raven Pipe Band

This will be a special year for Black Raven Pipe Band. This year will be particularly significant in the history of the band. The Black Raven Pipe Band was formed in 1910 by Corduff schoolteacher and native of Kerry, Mr Thomas Ashe, who along with a number of other Lusk men played a significant role in the 1916 Rising at the battle of Ashbourne. Many of those men were also involved in the Black Raven Pipe Band before and following the events of 1916. Following the formation of the State in 1922 the Black Raven Pipe Band continued to pursue its piping and drumming activities but more so in pursuit of improving its musical skill and endeavours rather than any political or nationalistic interest. In fact, the constitution of the Black Raven Band in later years specifically referred to it as being non-political. Its primary interest was and still is the promotion of Piping and Drumming skills and competing at the highest level in piping and drumming events, this it has successfully done in the intervening years. Pipe band competitions have been held in Ireland since the early part of the 20th century and the Black Raven Pipe Band are recorded as having won the ‘Championship of Ireland’, held in Galway, in 1913. The Irish Pipe Band Association (IPBA) was formed in the 1940s and with it came the grading of pipe bands for competition. The official All-Ireland Pipe Band Championships gained recognition in 1946. The Lusk Black Raven band became Grade 3 All-Ireland Champions in 1967 and Grade 2 champions in 1976. Into the noughties the band continued to compete successfully at the very highest level including at the renowned World Championships in Glasgow. The result of all this is that for over 100 years now a culture and tradition of piping and drumming has developed in Lusk. •Look out for more on the tradition of piping in the next edition of ‘Lusk Local’. Lusk native publishes new book ON February 2 at the Mansion House, Lord Mayor of Dublin, Cllr Críona Ní Dhálaigh, launched Lusk native and history lecturer, Dr David Doolin’s first book length publication. ‘Transnational Revolutionaries: The Fenian Invasion of Canada, 1866’ coincides with the 150th anniversary of the Fenian Invasion of Canada. It is a timely release in conjunction with the centenary commemorations of the 1916 Rising taking place around Dublin and the rest of the country. David is a well-travelled Luskonian, having earned his PhD from the University of Hawaii at Manoa, prior to which he had lived and studied in England, Scotland, and had a year-long spell living in Japan. Returning to Ireland some 15 months ago after ten years in the US, he is currently an adjunct lecturer where he has coordinated and taught modules at UCD (‘Fenians in North America’) and the American College Dublin (‘The American Civil War’, ‘Irish Migration’, ‘Irish Cinema’). Also, he has run seminars for history modules at Maynooth University (‘Ireland since the famine’ ‘Twentieth Century European History’) and UCD (‘The Irish Republic’; ‘Making of Modern Europe’; ‘War & Peace in International History’, and ‘Ireland, from Union to Bailout’). One hundred and fifty years ago this summer, barely a year after the conclusion of the American Civil War, a new conflict was initiated on the United States’ northern border with what was then still British North America. Starting on the morning of June 1, 1866, a series of raids by the Fenian Brotherhood (Fenians or FB) culminated in a short military confrontation with the British-Canadian authorities. These Fenian raids widely described as the ‘Invasion of Canada’ were planned, commenced, and carried out from within the United States in an attempt to achieve one, or both, of two main objectives: namely, seize some territory and there proclaim the Irish Republic, with the future intention of having that territory annexed to the United States; and alternatively, or indeed concomitantly, to try and foment an international war between the United States and Great Britain. David says: “I came to investigate this history from two fairly straightforward motivations. One reason was the general reaction of incredulity the heading, ‘Fenian Invasion of Canada’ seemed to elicit from people, and the vague notion of foolhardiness it conjured up among the public, with images of Irishmen gathering in America to invade Canada. “Secondly, when I first began to look more closely at the event, it appeared to be, by-and-large, understudied. “Rather, there predominantly seemed to be a dismissal of the event and, indeed, one of the more striking features about the descriptions of the Fenian invasion has been an apparent cursory dismissal of the affair in a few ephemeral lines. 12 LUSK LOCAL-FEBRUARY

Dr David Doolin has published a new book. “It has often been quickly dismissed as an “obstinate” and ultimately “futile” attempt; a fiasco.” David says that in terms of an apparent indifference afforded the Fenian invasion, it has not been a well-remembered story in Irish America, nor for an Irish or an American nationalist past. “Despite some excellent studies of the Fenian organisation within the United States, what with a perpetual transatlantic connection between emigrants and Irish republican revolutionaries throughout history, the Fenian invasion of Canada itself was a faintly remembered and, arguably, misunderstood history,” he says. “The Fenian movement’s attack on Canada has found it hard to shake the (mis)representation of it as a “fiasco”. “Summarily, during my research I found that, while the American Fenian Brotherhood are a group that have been studied, the invasion of Canada was not something that has been fully investigated, but rather offhandedly dismissed when it came to scholarship concerning Irish American issues.

“Thus, my work suggests that the Fenian invasion of Canada is a much more important history than the scholarship seems to bestow.” As a story of international history, David’s study of the Fenians explores the brief success of their Canadian invasion, which affected US international relations, domestic immigrant and citizenship policy, the place and belonging of the Irish diaspora, and the outcome of negotiations regarding an ethnic Irish American identity. “Furthermore, in this decade of commemorations, we often forget about the role of the Irish diaspora, in this instance the emigrants in America, who in their own subtle ways through not so subtle events like the invasion of Canada, left a significant legacy in terms of lessons offered to Irish revolutionaries and their visions of an independent Ireland,” he adds. “Thus, in ‘Transnational Revolutionaries: The Fenian Invasion of Canada, 1866’ a look at the detailed planning, as well as the motivations of this Irish group of immigrants who undertook such an audacious scheme, the central focus here is to show that the Fenian invasion was an important component of Irish diasporic history.”

EASYChocolate Fudge Brownies Method

Ingredients 90g Dark chocolate (at least 70% solids) 200g Milk chocolate 50-75g White chocolate chips (optional) 170g butter 3 eggs 1tsp coffee granules (or decaf ) 1tbsp vanilla extract (or essence) 1/4tsp salt 1tsp baking powder ¾ cup plain flour ½-¾ cup caster sugar 1tbsp icing sugar for dusting. 16 LUSK LOCAL-FEBRUARY

Butter and flour a large baking dish. Preheat oven to 180 degrees. Break up chocolate and dice butter into a microwaveable bowl and microwave at 30sec bursts. Stirring until combined and melted together. Set aside to cool. In a large mixing bowl mix together your eggs, vanilla, coffee, sugar until just combined. While mixing add in the chocolate mixture. Sift the flour, baking powder and salt into the wet ingredients and fold in until just combined. Do not over mix. Pour into your prepared baking tray and place in the middle of your oven and bake for 25-35min. After about 18min take the tray out and tap it on the edge of your counter once or twice to let air out then return to the oven for the last 7-12min. Keep an eye, and your brownies are done when you can stick a knife in the centre and it comes out clean. Leave to cool slightly then cut in squares, dust with icing sugar and transfer to serving plate. Vaccinations When should I get my dog or cat vaccinated? Puppies should be vaccinated at eight-weeks-old and then at 10-weeks-old. Kittens should be vaccinated at eight-weeks-old and then at 11-weeks-old. Both cats and dogs are then vaccinated every year at the same time of the year as their last vaccination. This is then done every year for the rest of their life. If they go over the year then the course of vaccines need to be restarted, so like when they were a puppy or kitten two vaccinations two weeks apart. What will they be covered for? Both dogs and cats can only be 100 per cent covered against the following diseases if they have the puppy and kitten vaccinations and are up to date on all boosters and have never previously had any of the diseases. Dogs are covered against distemper, adenovirus 1 and 2, parainfluenza, parvovirus and leptospirosis. Cats are covered against feline calicivirus, feline herpes virus and feline panluecopenia virus. Another vaccine for dogs that is separate from their annual booster vaccination is the kennel cough vaccination. When administered, your dog is covered against kennel cough for one year and like the annual booster will have to get another each year.

Not all dogs have to be vaccinated against kennel cough only if they are in contact with other dogs regularly or go into kennels. In that case if they are boarding all kennels look for documentation to say they have their regular vaccinations and their kennel cough

vaccination. If your cat or dog needs their vaccinations call your local veterinary hospital to schedule an appointment with the vet, it is an easy and quick procedure and also gives each pet owner a chance to get a vet to check their cat or dog for any other problems they think is wrong, or just a general check over. Operation Transformation Walk gets off on the right footing

Pictured are just some of the many children who took part in Fingal County Council’s hugely successful Operation Transformation Walk. The new year got off to a great keep-fit start when in excess of 3,000 people took part in two separate 3km walks organised by Fingal County Council’s sports office. Families, sports groups and fitness enthusiasts attended the Fingal events which were held in Ward River Valley Park, Swords, and Porterstown Park, Dublin 15. Record numbers of children and adults braved the winter weather to kick start their fitness regime for 2016 and took part by walking or running the 3k route. This was the seventh annual walk to be held in Fingal and is part of an initiative by Sport Ireland in association with the RTE hit show ‘Operation Transformation’. According to data gathered by Sport Ireland, Fingal had the highest turnout nationally by far for National Walk Day. Fingal’s Principal Sports Officer Marion Brown said: “This was a perfect opportunity for people to kick start their ‘get fit’ New Year resolutions with a short fun walk or run and to hopefully use it to start exercising on a regular basis.” Fingal parks have seen a number of upgrades in the last few years, including the addition of fitness equipment and outdoor gyms. Lusk AC to host a Cardiac Screening day Lusk AC takes the health and wellbeing of its members and indeed the whole community very seriously. The club has organised a Cardiac Screening day with AMS which will take place on Saturday, March 5 at Lusk National School. The screening is available to everyone in the community aged 12+ and not just club members. The clinic will be open from 9.30am-5pm. Each screening will take 20-25 minutes. Why should you or your family undergo a Cardiac Screening? • Up to 100 young people die each year in Ireland from Sudden Adult Death Syndrome (SADS) • 1 in 300 people may have a cardiac abnormality • The national register recently reported that the incidents of SADS are higher in Ireland than many other European countries • In Italy cardiac screening is mandatory for anyone aged 12 to 35 years involved in competitive sport for the past 25 years. They have reduced the incidents of SADS by 89% • The GAA’s Medical Scientific and Welfare Committee and the International Rugby Board

Parkrun phenomenon continues locally

Before Christmas, the inugural Junior Parkrun took place at Kenure Woods in Rush and attracted a very big crowd of youngsters for a run through the park. Parkrun is an organisation that with the help of local volunteers, and in partnership with Local Authorities, organises over 40 weekend events throughout the country on a regular basis. Stewarding of the events is done on a completely voluntary basis, largely by local athletics groups. 22 LUSK LOCAL-FEBRUARY

In 2014 Fingal County Council met with Parkrun to discuss a suitable venue for future events. The concept of a new walking/running trail was born, with Fingal County Council, who were already in discussions with Rush Tidy Towns on increasing footfall in Kenure Woods Park, choosing the park as a suitable location for the events. Works on the trail were completed in June 2015. Local councillor Brian Dennehy, who launched the event, said: “I am very aware how popular

this new addition to the park has become and I know it is used regularly by all members of our community, from grandparents bringing toddlers for an afternoon stroll to local athletes training for marathons all over the world.” Senior Sports Development Officer at Fingal County Council Niall McGuirk said: “According to the World Health Organisation (WHO) 2015 report Ireland is set to become the most obese country in Europe by 2030 with 89 per cent of all adults defined as obese or overweight. “This initiative will tackle childhood obesity, encourage fitness and promote an increase in activity levels among young people.” Fingal County Council said it is delighted to have been involved in making this event a reality, through co-operation with Matt Shields of Parkun Ireland, Niall Power and the ‘Rush Junior Park Run’ local volunteers the park will be a valuable resource for citizens for years to come. Meanwhile, the Ardgillan Parkrun continues to attract large numbers every Saturday morning with people from Balbriggan and surrounding areas taking part. At Ardgillan, the 5k course is run on a mixture of trail paths and grass. It is a fun, free event organised by volunteers for the benefit of everyone. The beauty of this initiative is that it is accessible to all levels of runners, joggers and walkers, and children are allowed to take part (those under the age of 11 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. All are welcome to take part.

Busy month ahead for Lusk Athletic Club

MASTERFUL: Pictured are the Lusk AC athletes who took part in the Dublin Masters Cross Country in Raheny. Lusk Athletic Club got the new year off to a cracking start with a jam-packed January schedule already behind them. The club saw two teams tackle the Dublin Masters Cross Country run which took place on Sunday, January 10 in St Anne’s Park, Raheny. The two teams did Lusk Athletic Club proud all who attended, both entrants and supporters, enjoyed the day. Fit4Life started back after the Christmas break on January 19. This is an excellent programme for getting fit in 2016, as it supports complete beginners to reach their goals of running 5k to

10k with ease. A major event coming up for the club this month is the Dublin Juvenile Indoor Championships which will run from February 13 with four days of events up to February 20. Day 1 kicks off at 7pm with the Under 15–Under 17 Boys and Girls shot putt and long jump events in Morton Stadium. On the Saturday and Sunday, there will be full days of events taking place at Morton Stadium and the Tallaght track respectively, finishing on the following Saturday, February 20 in Morton Stadium with the Girls and Boys Hurdles event.

Lusk Athletic Club enjoyed great success in the Juvenile competition circuit at previous events and best of luck to all the athletes taking part this month! Another athletics event that is taking place in Lusk this month is the East of Ireland Marathons 10k, half and full marathon. The races are starting at 9am. There are limited tickets are available to book online from €15. The 10K race starts and finishes outside Lusk secondary school and is sure to see many Lusk Athletic Club members take part on the day.

Junsa Taekwondo open for new members

Members of Junsa Taekwondo pictured during the training session in Tallaght. Junsa Taekwondo, based in Lusk, recently took part in a joint training session in Tallaght with South Dublin Taekwondo to ‘kick off ‘the new year. The club uses these training sessions to develop its players, introduce them to a different venue and meet new people from their sport in a non competitive environment. Student development is the cornerstone of Junsa’s ethos. From four-year-old beginners to elite level athletes, Junsa provides a safe and friendly environment for all. At the end of January Junsa members travelled to Belgium to compete on the international stage. Look out for next month’s issue of Lusk Local to see how they got on! Lusk Community College teams impress on the soccer fields

Pictured is the Lusk Community College Minor Boys’ team which has made a good start to the new year. Lusk Community College made an excellent start to the year with some impressive performances from its girls and boys’ soccer teams. The girls have made a brilliant start to the new season with a number of new players getting involved in 2016.

The First Years recorded a fine 5-0 victory over St Oliver’s Community College, Drogheda, with the goals coming from Ciara McAleese, Emily Lovely, Katie Lovely and Hannah Ryan. Their next match will be against Loreto Balbriggan. The Under 15 Girls’ team narrowly missed out on

a victory over the St Oliver’s Community College, Drogheda Under 15 team with the match finishing in a 1-1 draw. Aileen Doroshenko scored the Lusk Community College goal. The Under 15 team followed that match up with a 2-0 win over Marist College, Dundalk. Ciara McAleese and Doroshenko, were on target for the local school. Meanwhile, the First Year Boys and the Minor Boys’ teams also made good starts to the year. The First Year Boys remain unbeaten and will play their semi final against Ardee in the next week having won three of out three so far. The Minor Boys’ team are due to play a semi-final against Colaiste Chu Chullain, Dundalk, with the result not known at the time of going to press. They defeated Balbriggan Community College in their previous tie.
