THE PROJECT LIST
When Lusive Decor first opened its doors in 2002, the founders, husband and wife team Jason Kai Cooper and Sally Thomas Cooper had been working in the design industry for nearly two decades. Custom lighting at that time was an exercise of chance and circumstance - finding a lighting manufacturer that had something similar in their line and asking them to modify it, nudging it as close to your vision as possible. Those companies that specialized in custom lighting were predictably traditional; iron-works or crystal-works, with little other choice that didn’t involve a long flight to Italy.
At Lusive, Sally and Jason took custom lighting design and manufacturing in a wholly new direction. Having worked in film, theme park and entertainment design, Sally and Jason saw an opportunity to create authentic hand-crafted designs that paired the skills artisians and material sources they had gathered from around the globe, with modern manufacturing and project management techniques to undertake the most challenging design concepts the architectural community could envision.
Lusive was conceived as a design-based manufacturing firm along the lines of a scenic studio, beginning each project with exhaustive research and providing a wealth of additional design consultation and management services. With a dedicated in-house project development, the Lusive team offers specification details, renderings, imagery and finish samples at the earliest design stages. Lusive’s development team works hand-in-hand with our architectural clients to develop their design specifications from project concept to completion and installation.
Consistently researching and debuting new materials, Lusive works worldwide to offer a diverse and exclusive selection of finishes and specialized vendors. By sourcing the finest materials locally and from Italy, Austria, Brazil, India, the Philippines, and beyond, and by developing and training our in-house artisans in new skills and techniques, Lusive is able to provide distinctive options and a level of quality and originality that is unique in the lighting industry.
With her rich design and business background, it’s no surprise that Sally built what’s become one of the fastest growing manufacturing companies in the U.S. She first worked in film and television before falling in love with residential interior design and quickly developed an impressive roster of celebrity clients and started working directly with select textile, furniture and lighting companies. Sally then started doing high-end commercial work in the hospitality industry, and it was there she found herself craving more personal, more inspirational lighting choices than were available at the time.
If you’ve been wowed by the spectacle of Mandalay Bay, a performance at the Mark Taper Forum, or a Bruce Springsteen concert, you have Jason Kai Cooper to thank. He’s the award-winning lighting designer behind these projects and many, many more. He joined forces with his wife, Sally, to create Thomas Cooper and bring his experience in creating drama and wonder to lighting products enhance people’s everyday lives.
At Lusive, our team strives to create truly exceptional experiences:
• Exceptional design alliances
• Exceptional quality and materials
• Exceptional communication and service
The extended Lusive family of designers, drafts people, project managers, engineers and local and international artisians offer the creative choices and elements to bring abstract ideas to life.
With more than 20 years of experience working on some of the most notable casino and gaming projects in the world, Lusive’s specialty is designing and creating custom casino lighting. In addition, our lighting designers are trained in engineering and consultation for casino lighting design, electrical control systems and architectural lighting design.
Casinos often require much larger and more dynamic lighting fixtures than other traditional architectural design projects, which is what Lusive specializes in. The scale and scope of custom lighting fixtures for casinos can be quite challening and often requires complicated fabrication and logistical efforts.
Decorative light fixtures for Casino and Gaming areas provide special challenges and offer the opportunities for unique design and custom manufacturing solutions:
SECURITY CAMERAS:
• Lighting with customized security camera integration for casino gaming areas.
SPRINKLERS:
• Lighting with customized sprinkler integration to adhere to fire safety codes.
24-HOUR USAGE:
• Light sources that are both energy-efficient and long lamp life solutions.
MAINTENANCE:
• Fixtures that are designed for easily accessable maintenance in a gaming area.
GAME TABLE LIGHTING:
• Lighting designed for the even distribution of illumination across gaming tables.
DECORATIVE DESIGN:
• Fixtures that add to the aesthetic value of the gaming spaces.
With two luxury hotels and Vancouver’s only casino, Parq Vancouver has quickly become an international entertainment destination and a beacon for groundbreaking and contemporary design since their downtown opening in September 2017. Lusive collaborated with an incredible group of world-renowned designers including Studio Munge, Celano Design Studio and Yates-Silverman, Inc. to create custom feature lighting throughout the property.
A design-driven, expansive project like Parq Vancouver demanded that the Lusive team put our best design and manufacturing feet forward to offer lighting solutions that were creative, original, and checked all the technical, budgetary and scheduling boxes.
Contemporary. Bold. Compelling. What has been created is truly original design - inspired by the silhouettes of the Vancouver harbor and the rich history of the city itself - playing with shape, form and composition to add an energetic and organic aesthetic to the streamlined spaces throughout the hotel and casino.
Lusive collaborated with the various design teams on how to best bring their visions to life, creating a lighting program composed of striking silhouettes and exciting, diverse materials - such as cast resin, layers of custom hand-finished laser cut metals and strands of glittering crystal.
Producing nearly 140 light fixtures throughout the meticulously designed Parq Vancouver was a formidable task, one that required an incredible attention to detail and knowledge of the various production processes needed to bring these ideas to reality.
The Lusive team thrives on teamwork and here we were able to use all our resources - design, engineering and production - to create a myriad of designs that work singularly and together as a group. Understanding scale and the necessary balance of light, form and function, we were pleased to help create a memorable series of environments.
Through attention to detail and a knowledge - built over many years of experience - of the processes required for a project with such diverse styles and intents, we crafted an assemblage of lighting that illuminates and enhances. The striking, modern glamour of Parq Vancouver showcases our design and production abilities in their absolute best light - a collection of fixtures that are essential components to the property’s design, creating a truly memorable destination.

A CASE STUDY OF THE JEREMY HOTEL
At Lusive we’ve produced our fair share of guest room projects throughout the years – one of our favorites being the eclectic Jeremy Hotel in West Hollywood. Located on the corner of La Cienega and Sunset Boulevard, The Jeremy resides in a neighborhood that houses some of the most prestigious hotels in LA; but with its modern style and sophisticated touches, The Jeremy manages to stand out from the rest.
When Lusive took on the job of producing the array of midcentury-modern-meets-industrialinspired wall sconces, pendant lights, and table and floor lamps for the project, we understood the importance of the impeccable fabrication of these deceptively ‘simple’ pieces in order to elevate the aesthetic of each guest room. A challenge we embraced with open arms.
Clean. Striking. Sophisticated. This charming West Hollywood boutique hotel presents a remix of iconic Hollywood style and contemporary design through a streamlined hybrid of midcentury-modern and industrial aesthetics. The project exudes a muted sophistication that requires bold yet refined lighting fixtures in order to compliment the eclectic palette.
Void of any excessive grandeur, the fixtures at The Jeremy are a combination of simplistic design with quality finishes that create a sense of modern urban luxury - with materials such as ceramic, frosted acrylic, polished brass, and satin black nickel as the primary touch points throughout the design process.
Producing multiple uniquely custom fixture types for 286 signature rooms - including 50 suitesrequires coordination, stellar communication and the ability to problem solve through the process. Often the simplest details create the biggest challenges in engineering, materials or technology –the assumption that simple design equals easy construction can sometimes be farthest from the actual truth.
With their clean lines and no-frills design, the fixtures for The Jeremy needed to be expertly crafted as any flaws would be glaringly obvious from the onset. But as with all of our projects, the team at Lusive approached these pieces with the knowledge and care to ensure that each and every final product found throughout the guestrooms assisted in telling the visual story of the space with stellar quality.
Through Lusive’s attention to detail and constant striving to deliver the finest product on schedule, the lighting fixtures found throughout the guest rooms at The Jeremy are a true representation of the designer’s vision. With their modernized subtlety, each masterfully crafted piece adds to the distinctive layering of the midcentury-modern-meets-industrial-inspired aesthetic that runs throughout the interiors.
In the end, the finished product for The Jeremy ended up being a cohesive collection of lighting that’s an integral part of the overall guest experience, a mix of practical application and inspired design that places the boutique hotel in a category all its own.

As the leading custom lighting manufacturer in the world of hospitality design, Lusive has had the privilege to produce light fixtures for a plethora of high-end hotels across the globe –including collaborating with Looney & Associates on the sleek and modern Omni Hotel at the Battery Atlanta. The luxury property is located within steps of SunTrust Park baseball stadium, home to the Atlanta Braves, and has quickly become a hub for style and service throughout one of the country’s urban epicenters. With its effortless mix of mid-century modern silhouettes and touches of glamour, the design throughout the Omni Atlanta is a home run!
From industrial-inspired wall sconces to cascading pendants with glittering hand-blown glass and faceted crystal, the lighting program throughout the hotel called for mastery of the various materials, styles and production techniques required to bring a project of this scale to life –and Lusive stepped up to bat!
A blending of the clean lines of industrial design with the flair of mid-century modern silhouettes and a dash of contemporary elements, the aesthetic throughout Omni Atlanta may appear simple in form but it’s the marriage of form and material that creates a feeling of modern, classic luxury, elevated by feature custom decorative lighting throughout.
A case in point; the project’s centerpiece - the Astoria Pendant - was conceived as a reflection of the fireworks displays that wow the crowds attending the games at the adjacent stadium. Lusive engineered a light-as-air cascade of Venetian glass and Austrian crystal to add a focal point and visual energy to the stairwell at the main entry lobby.
A pillar of Lusive’s success is a comprehensive understanding of the diverse styles in the world of design. We worked closely with the Looney & Associates team throughout the design and manufacturing processesconsidering all the aspects of the designs, the best use of materials, the engineering and technical aspects of the fixtures and the environment they were to be installed in - brass and bronze mix effortlessly and in perfect scale in the long hallways of pre-function spaces and tall elevator lobbies; textured glass and dark bronze accent food and beverage spaces to create casual elegance.
