Amarillo averages more than 3,300 hours of sunshine each year, with about 260 sunny days, making it one of the sunniest spots in Texas. Summers are hot and dry, with cooler evenings. Winters are mild, occasionally accompanied by snow, and spring and fall bring breezy, comfortable days. Weather can shift quickly, so pack layers and a light jacket year-round.
Packing tips
Layering is key. Summer temps can swing from 90s in the day to cool evenings in the 60s. Winter can mean sunshine one day and snow the next.
