Gogo!
by Luna VasquezEXT. GOGO! ICE -- ESTABLISHING -- AFTERNOON
In the heart of the city, surrounded by modern, colorless cafes and old closed shops with "COMING SOON" and "FOR LEASE" signs plastered on their fronts, sits an older, bright drink shop, Gogo Ice.
Customers walk in and out of the surrounding shops, none giving Gogo! Ice second glance.
CHAM(O.S)
Go, go, go!
Hold on.
Come on!

INT.
GOGO ICE
-- DINING ROOM -- AFTERNOON
The afternoon sun shines through the glass wall that faces outside. The dining room is devoid of customers.
A Latine girl, ATTY (12), balances four gallons of milk on her nose while a Chinese girl, CHAM (11), stands on a stool holding a fifth, ready to place it on top of the jug stack.
A dog, PANTS, runs in circles around them. Pants is very round and his hind legs and butt are a darker fur than the rest of him, making it look like he's wearing pants.
Atty wears a mini backpack and a baseball cap. They're short and have tired, serious eyes. They speak in a very monotone voice.
Cham wears a dress, glasses, and a bow. She's tall for her age and has a warm smile.
ATTY
Wait, Cham... Careful...
CHAM
Lemme put it on already!
Atty centers themselves.
ATTY
Fine, okay. I'm ready.
Cham raises the jug over the stack.
The bottom of the fifth jug touches down.
It stays! Cham throws her arms up.
CHAM
And it's good! Don't move a muscle, Atty. I gotta get mom's phone for a pic.
Cham runs to the back room. Atty stays perfectly still but from the corner of their eye:
ATTY
Pants, no. I know that look.
Pants climbs on the stool. He looks up at the stack, tapping his feet and wagging his tail.
ATTY
Pants, no. I only trained for milk, not puppies. No.
Pants jumps.
INT. GOGO ICE -- A SECOND LATER
Cham comes back, phone in hand, and sees Pants barely balancing on top of the fifth jug of milk. Atty sweats bullets. Cham can't believe what she's seeing.
ATTY
Picture. Please. Can't. Hold on. Much longer.
CHAM
Oh, right! Say cheese!
Cham points the phone.
Pants strikes a pose for the camera. The powerful pose throws Atty's balance off.
ATTY
Oh no..
The Pants and the milk come tumbling down. CLICK!
BOOSH!
CLOSE UP: a picture of Atty catching Pants in mid-fall, surrounded by jugs of spilled milk.
JASMINE(O.S)
Cham! Atty! What was that noise?!
TITLE: "CHAM AND ATTY -- SPILLED MILK"
INT. GOGO ICE -- A LITTLE LATER
Cham and Atty stand side-by-side with their heads hanging low. Atty holds Pants in their arms. He's just excited to be involved.
A tall, tense Chinese woman, JASMINE (39), wears an apron that reads, "KISS THE COOK AND BE DESTROYED". She faces a shorter, laxer Latine woman, AVENA (37), who wears a matching apron that reads, "KISSED THE COOK".
They have their backs halfway faced towards Cham and Atty. They try speaking in hushed voices but Cham and Atty can hear everything.
JASMINE
One of us has to be watching them or else something like this always happens, Vena.
AVENA
What do you expect, Jazz? They're kids. They play. They make mistakes. It's what they do.
Avena waves her hand.
JASMINE
Those mistakes cost us money we don't have.
AVENA
Well we can't be watching them every second. There's things to do and we have no help around here. I've told you to look for some help.
JASMINE
Again, with what money, Vena? We can't even afford this place anymore!
AVENA
You always do this--
DING!
Avena looks around.
AVENA Girls?
EXT. FORTUNE DISTRICT -- AFTERNOON
Cham, Atty, and Pants walk away from Gogo Ice walking past busy shops, people, and cars. Atty looks at the ground as they walk. Cham is frustrated.
CHAM
I hate when they argue, it's so annoying.
ATTY
It's worse when it's about us.
Cham waves her hand.
CHAM
Psh, that's nothing. I disappoint my mom all the time! You get used to it. Kinda.
ATTY
I don't know.
Pants tries to get Atty's attention but it doesn't work. Cham pats them on the shoulder, gently.
CHAM
Hey, do you wanna try making it up to them?
ATTY
Hm?
CHAM
Like, I dunno. What if we go to the store and get more milk? Maybe if we do that, they wouldn't be so upset!
Atty thinks for a second then nods.
ATTY
Huh. Yeah, that'd probably work.
Cham smiles and puts her arm around Atty's shoulder. Atty smiles. Pants wags his tail.
CHAM
Let's do it, then! And after, I was thinking we could teach Pants how to play dead!
PANTS
A beat.
Woof!
ATTY
I'm pretty sure that's called "insurance fraud" and it's illegal.
CHAM
Huh. Well alright, let's just go to the store then!
CHAM(CONT'D)
Hey, what's insurance?
EXT. FORTUNE DISTRICT -- WELCOME MART -- A LITTLE LATER
A light rail blows its whistle as it drives on an overpass across the city.
Cham, Atty, and Pants arrive at WELCOME MART. Once an old staple of Fortune District, now closed.
ATTY
Aw.
Cham goes up to the storefront and sees a sign that reads: "GALENCIAGA COMING SOON!"
CHAM
A clothing store? Where are we gonna get snacks now?
PAN(O.S)
Friends!
Cham and Atty turn to see their friend and local baker, PAN PRESSO, broom in hand, waving at them. He gestures for them to follow him as he steps into his shop.
INT. PAN'S BAKERY -- LATER
DING! The door opens. Our trio enters the bakery whose walls are lined with pillowy baked Latine goods. Conchas, bolillos, and semitas all sit carefully placed on shelves, shining under soft light.
Pan stands at the opposite end of the room, behind his counter, putting on his cap and apron. On the counter is a beautiful and delicate PINK BOX. A candle and matches are taped to its side.
Pan is a large afro-latine man who radiates positivity and speaks with a heavy accent.
CHAM
Hi, Pan!
Hola, Pan.
ATTY
PAN
Hola, little friends!
CHAM
Did you see the crowd, Pan?
PAN
Ah yes, it reminds me of my youth! That is no place for children. You (MORE)
PAN (cont'd)
girls can stay here until the commotion passes.
Pants starts drooling looking at all the bread. Atty pats his head.
ATTY
Maybe later, Pants. Be good.
Pants makes disappointed doggy noises. They put Pants on top of their head. His butt sits on their backpack and his head and front paws sit on their cap.
PAN
It is times like these I am glad to be a smart baker! Two weeks of supplies stocked up in advance.
Pan beams proudly.
ATTY
Pan, does that mean you have extra milk?
PAN
Of course!
ATTY
Could we borrow some? We were going to get some at Welcome but, well, you saw.
PAN
How much do you need?
ATTY
Five gallons?
PAN
Hm, that is a lot.
CHAM
Pan, please! We'll pay you anything!
ATTY
We have two dollars.
CHAM We'll owe you anything!
PAN
Wait, how were you planning on buying milk at the store with no money?
Cham and Atty blink.
PAN(CONT'D)
Were you going to steal it?
Cham gasps very dramatically.
CHAM
Steal? How could you think that Pan? The mere thought, why we--
ATTY
Yes.
PAN
Hm. Well, I did mean to deliver this...
Pan looks at the pink box.
Cham has stars in her eyes as she looks at the box.
CHAM
Ohhhhhh.
ATTY
What's in the box, Pan?
PAN
It is what I needed to deliver! Friends, today is an anniversary. The one of my mother's passing, actually.
ATTY
Aw, I'm sorry.
CHAM
Are you okay?
PAN(O.S)
Yes, it happened a long time ago. Regretfully, my last words to her were unkind. And on top of that, I have not visited her memorial for a very long time! To reconcile, I have made her something.
Cham, Atty, and Pants look at the pink box.
CHAM
Can we see what's inside?
ATTY
Cham, that's personal.
PAN
It's okay, let me show you.
Pan opens the box's lid and reveals a small, lovingly made patisserie cake.
ATTY
It looks beautiful.
CHAM
It looks tasty!
Pan smiles.
PAN
Thank you! I have meant to visit her for so long but something else always seems to demand my attention.
Pan closes the box.
PAN(CONT'D)
Even today, I am working late because I must finish a big catering order. Rent is going up again this year, the lease needs to be renewed, chains opening up and taking customers.
Pan leans on the counter and sighs.
PAN(CONT'D)
I suppose that is life, though at times it feels like an excuse. I never felt this exhausted in the old country, though.
Cham and Atty look at their tired friend and share a look.
ATTY
Pan, let us deliver the cake. We deliver stuff for our moms all the time.
CHAM
Yeah! We're seasoned delivery girls! We help you and you help us! Where do you need it taken to?
PAN
I don't know.
CHAM
Please, Pan? We're trying to help our moms, too! We spilled all the milk at Gogo and wanna make it up to them! Please!
Cham hits Pan with the biggest puppydog eyes she can muster. Pan tries to break contact with Cham's powerful puppydog eyes but he isn't strong enough to resist.
Pan grabs a pen and receipt paper and scribbles something down. Atty throws a thumbs up to Cham. Cham winks in return.
PAN(CONT'D)
This is where I was taking it to.
Pan starts to hand the paper over but looks out his shop's window and hesitates. The sun is setting.
PAN(CONT'D)
Though, it is getting dark...
CHAM
It's a deal!
Cham snatches the paper. Atty carefully grabs the pink box. Black smoke from the kitchen begins to drift into the front.
ATTY
Don't worry, Pan, look.
Atty digs into their pocket and pulls out a large brick.
ATTY(CONT'D)
See? Self defense brick.
PAN
Wh- wait.
He starts to reach for the paper Cham took but suddenly: BEEP! BEEP! BEEP! The fire alarm goes off. Pan jumps. Atty covers Pants' ears. She leans towards Cham's ears.
ATTY
It's too loud. I'm gonna take Pants outside!
PAN (Shouts)
Ay, no no no! I must go!
Pan runs to the kitchen.
CHAM (Shouts)
What was that? We're just gonna take this for you. Don't you worry!
Cham starts to walk off in a hurry.
CHAM(CONT'D)
Bye! Have the milk ready!
Atty follows Cham then looks back.
ATTY
Adios, Pan.
Pan peers through the kitchen window. He handles a tray of burnt bread.
PAN
Little friends? Wait!
Our trio exit the bakery. DING!
END ACT I ACT II
INT. METRO RAIL -- SUNSET
Cham and Atty squeeze into a single seat on the full rail. Pants sits on Cham's lap. Atty carries Pan's package on their lap.
The rail stops and a pregnant girl, KUMARA (18), gets on. She wears a fast food uniform. All the seats are taken. She looks tired.
Cham and Atty look at Kumara.
INT. METRO RAIL -- A LITTLE LATER
Cham, Atty, and Pants ride the rail standing up. Kumara sits in their seat, smiling and looking relieved.
EXT. MISFORTUNE DISTRICT -- EVENING
DING DONG! The rail pulls in. The doors open. The sun has set. The sounds of the birds fills the skies above.
Our trio exit the rail and take its steps down into the old district. A barricade with caution tape blocks the path. A sign reads "RESTRICTED".
ATTY
We have to deliver this here? Are you sure?
CHAM Mhm! That's what the note says.
ATTY
But is that Pan said? Everyone knows this place is--
CHAM
Haunted? Well, see, about that... Pan didn't actually say anything. He kinda doesn't know we're here, actually.
Atty's jaw drops.
ATTY Cham!
CHAM
Psh, it'll be fine! We'll help Pan, help our moms, help his mom.
She counts on her fingers.
CHAM(CONT'D)
That's like three moms and a Pan!
Atty looks back at the empty rail station, then into the district. She clutches the pink box. Pants whimpers.
Our trio climb over the barricade. As they cross, the old street lights come to life, illuminating their way.
The birds above go quiet.
Tall buildings with whole sections burned down inhabit the district. There's "CONDEMNED" signs on some doors. Overgrowth, graffiti, and weathering decorate the neighborhood.
There are old signs that advertise a new development.
ATTY
I wonder if anyone still lives here?
Our trio walk for a bit when: BOOSH! BOOSH! BOOSH! Something shakes the ground beneath their feet, throwing them off balance. Atty almost drops the package but catches it.
ATTY
Whew.
CHAM
What was that? Wrestlers?
ATTY
Wrestlers? Why would wrestlers be in a place like this?
CHAM
For their fans!
BOOSH! BOOSH! BOOSH! Atty and Pants fall on their butts. Cham falls on her face, THUNK!
From an alley ahead of them, a humanoid SPIRIT as tall as a building, with skin made of ash that flows like fire, walks slowly from one alley to the next, wandering the neighborhood. Birds perch on its head and shoulders and a flock follows it throughout the neighborhood.
It doesn't notice our trio.
Cham, Atty, and Pants huddle together.
Atty sweats.
ATTY (whispers)
Don't move a muscle.
A pause.
MUNCH MUNCH MUNCH! Sounds of furious snacking cuts through the silence.
A scared Cham, eyes locked on the spirit, reaches into her pocket and pulls out fist-fulls of chips that she shoves into her face.
ATTY
Cham, where'd you even get those?
CHAM (munches)
I found an open bag on the rail!
ATTY
Ew, stop that's so gross.
Atty slaps the chips out of Cham's hand. They fall towards the ground.
CHAM
Hey!
From above, a DOVE flies down and lands next to the chips. The dove starts to peck at them.
PANTS (growls)
CHAM
Huh?
Pants takes off after the bird. The bird notices and flies off, heading straight towards the ash spirit.
CHAM
Pants, no!
Cham chases after Pants.
ATTY
Cham, wait!
Atty grabs Pan's package. They hesitate for a second, then set off towards Cham and Pants. She looks up for a moment and sees the spirit's face. It almost looks sad.
Atty closes in on Cham quickly. They scoop Cham up with their free arm and continue running towards Pants.
CHAM (breathing heavy)
We need to get Pants before he gets smushed!
Atty nods and closes in on Pants. The grey dove flies in front of, and past the ash spirit. Pants follows the dove right into the spirit's path.
ATTY Pants.
Pants snaps out of his doggy-rage and stops in the spirit's path. He looks back at Cham and Atty and wags his tail.
PANTS
Woof!
BOOSH! BOOSH! The giant's feet get closer and closer.
ATTY (shouts) Pants, run.
CHAM Pants, come here!
Pants blinks, then lies down, looking cute.
CHAM Aw.
ATTY (shouts) No.
The spirit's foot looms over Pants. Atty dashes at Pants with all she's got.
BOOSH!
The spirit's foot comes down hard, cracking the old pavement and sending dust and dirt up into the air.
BOOSH! BOOSH! BOOSH! The spirit walks away, deeper into the district.
The dust clears.
Cham, Atty, and Pants lay on the other side of a giant ashy footprint. Cham rubs her head. She sees Pants is safe.
CHAM Pants!
She picks him up and hugs him.
CHAM(CONT'D)
He's safe, Atty! You did it!
CHAM(CONT'D) Atty?
Cham turns to Atty. The shadow of Atty's baseball cap masks their eyes but the lights of the neighborhood reflect off welling tears in their eyes.
Next to the ground lies the small pink box from Pan's Bakery, on the ground, broken. The lovingly made cake that was inside is smushed against the pavement.
CHAM
Oh.
EXT. MISFORTUNE DISTRICT -- EVENING -- A LITTLE LATER
Cham, Atty, and Pants turn a corner into a burned down residential area.
Atty carries the broken pink box with the smushed cake inside. Cham reads the receipt paper and looks at the addresses on the buildings.
CHAM
I think it's this way.
They arrive at an old townhouse. Scorch marks scar the house. Multiple burned eviction signs and a FOR SALE sign can be seen plastered on the front of the building.
A wooden post painted white stands, buried in the small patch of grass in front of the sidewalk. The post is wrapped in wilted flowers and melted candles.
Letters etched into the post read "ARANDA PRESSO".
Next to the post is a framed picture. It shows a young Pan and his mom, Aranda, posing in front of the townhouse. On Aranda's shoulders and head sit doves.
Pants sniffs the post. Cham and Atty share a look.
SCHK!
EXT. MISFORTUNE DISTRICT -- NIGHT -- A MOMENT LATER
Cham strikes a match. She lights the candle on top of the broken cake that sits in front of Aranda Presso's memorial.
In the darkness above them, the candle's light reflects off of hundreds of little eyes looking down at our trio.
Cham steps back and nudges Atty.
CHAM
Should we say something?
ATTY
Oh, right.
Atty walks in front of the post and closes her eyes. Cham and Pants close their eyes, too.
ATTY(CONT'D)
Uh, hi Pan's mom. We're Pan's friends. I'm Atty and this is my step-sister, Cham, and our dog, Pants.
They breathe.
ATTY(CONT'D)
Pan's mom, we ruined your cake. We didn't mean to. It looked like Pan worked really hard on it.
Atty opens their eyes and looks down at the candle.
ATTY(CONT'D)
We just wanted to help Pan and make it up to our moms and we just messed everything up. We're really sorry.
Pants looks up and begins to growl. Cham looks up, too.
CHAM
Uh, Atty?
ATTY
Hm? What's wrong?
Cham is shaking. She points up at the eyes that line the lamp posts, windows, and railings of the surrounding buildings. The eyes blink in unison.
Atty looks up, her eyes widening.
ATTY (whispers)
What is that?
CHAM
I don't know.
The eyes coalesce into a single, giant eyeball. The eye sits on the forehead of the ash spirit. It looms over the townhouse, its hands gripping the roof. It looks down at Cham, Atty, and Pants. ATTY
The spirit lowers its head. Atty, Cham, and Pants see their reflections in its eye, the fire from the candle dancing at the edges.
Pants growls. Cham hesitantly waves.
CHAM
Hi?
The spirit's pupil looks at them before it turns its head to the cake. It reaches out with its giant hand towards the cake.
Atty quickly snatches the cake.
ATTY No.
It reaches towards the cake again but Cham swats the hand away.
CHAM
That's not for you!
The spirit slams its fist down onto the pavement and the earth beneath our trio's feet quakes. It opens its mouth, threads of ash connecting the top and bottom, almost tying it together, and it screams an unholy scream. Windows that were still in tact, burst. It's eye glows red.
Without a second thought, Atty picks up Pants in her arm and grabs Cham's hand and they run.
As they run, Cham looks back and sees the giant ash spirit running on all fours through the neighborhood, chasing them down, cracking the concrete with each step it takes. As it runs, it hits the sides of buildings, sending pieces of brick flying through the air. All the while, the cake's candle somehow stays lit.
CHAM
Atty, we need to make it back to the rail!
Our trio turns left, then right, then left again, weaving through the alleys.
Cham looks behind them. Empty. Then, suddenly:
The spirit BURSTS THROUGH one of the old buildings.
CHAM Eep!
ATTY
We're almost there.
Our trio run past Cham's pocket chips still on the ground.
Atty looks ahead and sees the rail station. The metro rail pulls in. DING DONG!
ATTY
It's here.
Our trio reach the barricade and start to climb over when:
The rail's doors open and Pan steps out. He looks around.
ATTY/CHAM
Pan!
PANTS Woof!
Pan squints, adjusting to the darker lighting.
PAN Little friends?
Pan spots our trio hopping over the barricade.
PAN Little friends!
Pan jogs down the steps towards them. Atty raises their hand.
ATTY
Pan, wait.
PAN
Friends, I told you not to come here! Why did you not listen to me?! This is no place for children!
CHAM
Pan, stop! There's a thing!
Cham turns to point at the spirit who has stopped in its tracks and its giant eye is looking at Pan.
Pan looks at the spirit and makes a face.
PAN Uy!
Pan clicks his tongue and shakes his head. He spots the cake in Atty's hand. He leans down and opens his hand.
PAN May I, Atty?
ATTY
Oh, yeah. We're really sorry, we tripped and the cake fell out, and--
Atty's about to cry but Pan stops them and pats them on the head. He smiles at them.
PAN
Atty. It is okay. Really.
He walks past Cham, Atty, and Pants. He uses his fingers to put out the candle on the cake, then takes a chunk of it with his hand and tosses it towards the spirit.
The spirit leans down and sniffs the cake. It opens its mouth again. This time, a long tongue emerges and licks some frosting off of the cake. As it does, its ashen body slowly starts to dissipate. Birds and ashes begin to scatter to the wind until all that's left is a group of ash-covered doves who peck at the cake.
CHAM
But, Pan! Wasn't that for your mom?
Pan keeps his eyes towards the old neighborhood.
PAN
Friends, I made this for my mother, yes. But she lived in this neighborhood her whole life.
He points to a building with an open front. There are old, empty fruit stands in front of it.
PAN(CONT'D)
Right there? That is where she used to go buy her groceries every Sunday for thirty years.
He points to another building with a big glass window, now shattered, that face an old kitchen counter.
PAN(CONT'D)
And there, she got meats for her sancochado from Andre the butcher.
He points to another building. A midrise whose porch has two big flower pots on it.
PAN(CONT'D)
And that is where she would babysit for young Briana after her boyfriend left her and her baby.
He throws another piece of cake at the group of doves.
PAN(CONT'D)
And she took care of all the birds in the neighborhood in the roof of our house.
Pan turns to our trio.
PAN(CONT'D)
There are spirits all around this city, little friends. Sometimes they're memories we carry with us. Sometimes, like this one--
He points to the ash-covered doves pecking at the cake.
PAN(CONT'D)
--they are the emotions of a neighborhood, and the people who lived in it, come to life.
He looks down at the frosting between his fingers and at what's left of the cake.
PAN
Cham, Atty, Pants, you should go home.
CHAM
Pan, what about the milk?
ATTY
Yeah, we still gotta make it up to them.
Pants whimpers. Pan smiles warmly at our trio.
PAN
Little friends, trust me when I say your moms want nothing more right now than to have you home safe.
Cham and Atty look at each other, a little dejected but mostly battered and shaken up, and nod. Atty turns to Pan.
ATTY
Are you coming too, Pan?
PAN
If you are alright riding the rail back just the three of you and promise me you will go straight home, I think I would like to stay here for a while.
CHAM
We promise.
Cham picks up Pants. Our trio drag themselves up the steps and through the rail's doors.
PAN(O.S)
(loudly)
Cham! Atty! Little doggy!
Cham, Atty, and Pants turn around. Pan waves at them.
PAN(CONT'D)
Though, I did not want you to come here, I am not sure I would have ever returned if it were not for you! For that, I thank you! Come by my bakery again sometime! I will save you some bread!
Cham and Atty manage to smile. They wave back. Pants sticks his tongue out.
PANTS
Woof!
The rail's doors close. DING DONG!
END ACT II
ACT III
INT. METRO RAIL -- NIGHT
The hum of the rail and the bumps of the ride fill the air.
Our trio sit together. Cham lays across a few seats, sleeping, her head on Atty's lap. Pants lays on Cham's stomach. Atty looks out the window, fighting sleep. There's a few other people in the rail car, too.
Around them, though, are spirits. Some big, some small, of all shapes, sizes, and colors. All of them riding the same rail car, waiting for their next stop.
INT. GOGO ICE -- NIGHT
Jasmine talks on her phone behind the front counter. Avena mumbles to herself, pacing back and forth the front lobby, occasionally looking at her phone checking the time.
JASMINE
(to her phone)
Yes officer, they've been gone for hours and we don't know where they could have gone. Two girls and a dog, yes--
AVENA (in Spanish)
Ay, adonde podrian estar?
DING! Cham and Atty drag themselves in, eyes half open, exhausted. Pants trots in after them.
PANTS
Woof!
AVENA Girls?
Avena quickly turns to the door.
ATTY/CHAM
Buh.
AVENA Girls!
Avena hurries to Cham and Atty. She kneels and embraces them. Pants greets her.
AVENA
We were so worried!
Jasmine turns.
JASMINE
(to her phone)
Never mind, they just came back!
She hangs up her phone and runs to them.
JASMINE
(to Avena)
Are they okay?
AVENA
I don't know.
Avena breaks their embrace and examines Cham and Atty.
AVENA(CONT'D)
Are you hurt? Did something happen? It's so late, we thought you got hurt or worse! Where were you?
CHAM
We're okay, amma, don't worry.
Cham yawns.
Just tired.
So tired.
CHAM(CONT'D)
ATTY
Cham and Atty pull away from Avena and slowly lay down on the shop's tile floor, looking up. Pants sits and cuddles up next to Cham.
Avena and Jasmine look at each other. Avena lays down on the tile floor with Cham and Atty. Jasmine hesitates for a moment, then joins them.
Together, all four look up at the fluorescent lights.
Jasmine opens her mouth to say something, then stops.
ATTY
Mom. Amma. We're sorry about today. We didn't mean to make you fight.
CHAM
Yeah, we're sorry. We tried fixing what we did but we couldn't.
Pants whimpers. Avena sighs.
AVENA
Mijas, listen. You're going to make a lot of mistakes in life and you're not always going to be able to fix them. And that's okay. It happens to everyone and it's part of being a person.
Avena turns to Jasmine.
AVENA(CONT'D)
Sometimes, the best you can do is apologize, right?
JASMINE
Right. I didn't mean for you to see me like that this afternoon. It wasn't even about you guys, really. But I shouldn't have let my stress from other problems come out on you. You didn't deserve that, I'm sorry.
Avena smiles at Jasmine. Jasmine blushes and smiles back. A beat.
Avena and Jasmine hear little snoozes.
Avena sits up and sees Cham, Atty, and Pants, asleep.
Avena nudges Jasmine. Jasmine sits up. Avena holds Jasmine's hand. They smile, leaning on each other and together, watch Cham, Atty, and Pants sleep soundly.
FADE OUT
