uring the past 45 years, the Rockland County Park System has grown from one park of three acres to a network of 23 parks on more than 2,579 rural, pristine acres.

Rockland’s scenic parks are situated on the Hudson River and near mountain ridges that preserve its shorelines and skylines as forever green and uncluttered by development. Many hold great historic value, preserving old Indian trails, and offer mountain and river vistas as well as a variety of recreational opportunities for all.

Meandering nature trails give hikers a chance to spy red-tailed hawks, woodpeckers, owls, bluebirds, deer, foxes, or a gaggle of wild turkeys. There are scenic vantage points at South Mountain, Buttermilk Falls, Mountianview Nature Park, Kakiat, Clausland Mountain, and Haverstraw.
