lumenalta Lighting Life’s Path
1
Light That Considers People At Lumenpulse, listening is central to how we innovate. By collaborating closely with our partners throughout the design process, we develop lighting solutions that balance performance, visual comfort, and creative flexibility— thoughtfully designed for the communities they serve.
2
Five Lighting Principles for Responsible Outdoor Lighting The Illuminating Engineering Society (IES) and DarkSky International continue to call for lighting solutions that improve visual comfort while respecting the nighttime environment.
01 | Useful All light should have a clear purpose.
02 | Targeted Direct light so it falls only where it is needed.
03 | Low Level Use the lowest light level required.
04 | Controlled Use light only if it is needed.
05 | Warm-Colored Use warmer spectrums where possible.

The Directional optic has DarkSky Approved configurations, ensuring it adheres to responsible lighting practices that protect the night environment. Its precise optical control minimizes glare, reduces uplight, and focuses illumination exactly where it’s needed.
13
Type I Optics:
CONCENTRATED FOR CLOSE RANGE TARGETS
Type I optics are designed for areas that require focused lighting directly beneath the lens, in order to minimize light spill through a narrow, precise distribution. This results in excellent spacing ratios and efficient coverage. These optics are well suited for passenger platforms as well as mixed cycling and pedestrian spaces.
Mounting Height: 10’ Luminaire(s): Lumenalta Column, M80 output, 4000K, CRI 80+ Criteria: Between 50 lux / 5 fc – 100 lux / 10 fc, 4 max/min Spacing: 60’ 14
15
Type II Optics:
PRECISION FOR NARROW SPACES
Optimized for sidewalks, two-lane streets, bicycle paths, pathways, and narrow overpasses, Type II optics provide elongated, targeted illumination exactly where it’s needed. Designed to enhance visibility and safety in compact urban spaces, this distribution ensures efficient light placement. Ideal for creating well-lit, pedestrian-friendly environments with precision and control.
Mounting Height: 20’ Luminaire(s): Lumenalta Small Post-Top, S25 output, 3000K, CRI 70+ Criteria: RP-08-25 Road - Collector Low Pedestrian Activity 0.4 cd/m², 4 avg/min, 8 max/min, 0.4 Lv max/L avg Spacing: 100’ 16
17
Type III Optics:
BALANCED COVERAGE FOR WIDER SPACE
Designed for bicycle paths, three-lane streets, parking lots, parks, public spaces, and overpasses, Type III optics deliver a wide, lateral distribution that enhances visibility across broader areas. This distribution ensures even illumination, reducing dark spots while maintaining energy efficiency and optimal light placement. Ideal for urban and recreational environments, Type III optics create safer, more inviting spaces for both pedestrians and vehicles.
Mounting Height: 17’ Luminaire(s): Lumenalta Small Post-Top, S15 output, 2700K, CRI 80+ Criteria: RP-08-25 Parking lots – Drive Aisles and Parking Areas Avg 2 lux / 0.2 fc, 4 max/avg 18
19
Type IV Optics:
DESIGNED FOR HIGH-USE, HIGH-PERFORMANCE SPACES
Perfect for transit hubs, truck zones, parking lots, campuses, parks, collector roads, and public spaces, Type IV optics provide a forwardthrow, asymmetrical light distribution that efficiently covers wide areas while reducing glare and light spill. This precision-focused design enhances visibility and safety in spaces where both pedestrian and vehicle traffic intersect. With optimized light placement, Type IV optics create well-lit, functional environments that balance performance, efficiency, and comfort.
Mounting Height: 20’ Column + 3’ bollards Luminaire(s): Lumenalta column, M80 output, 3000K, CRI 80+ Lumenalta bollard, XS07 output, 3000K, CRI 80+ Criteria: RP-06-24 - Skating Pond Avg 10 lux / 1 fc, 4 max/min RP-43-25 – LZ2 Terrasses, Patios, Decks Avg 8-15 lux / 0.8-1.5 fc, 8 avg/min LZ2 Walking Areas Adjacent to Waterfront Avg 10-20 lux / 1-2 fc, 10 avg/min 20
21
Type VS Optics:
UNIFORM ILLUMINATION FOR OPEN SPACES Designed for large parking lots, plazas, and open public areas, Type VS optics produce a uniform 360-degree light distribution that effectively illuminates spaces from a central location. The square beam pattern enhances spacing performance by minimizing overlap and maximizing useful light coverage. Type VS optics help create comfortable, well-lit environments in active shared spaces.
Mounting Height: 12’ Luminaire(s): Lumenalta Column, M80 output, 2700K, CRI 80+ Criteria: RP-43-25 / LZ2 Playgrounds Avg 20-40 lux / 2-4 fc, 5 avg/min 22

Asymmetric Shield
A New Era of Comfort Lumenalta’s groundbreaking Invisio™ optic brings a new level of visual comfort to pedestrian-scale lighting, using a patented faceted light guide that hides the source and delivers exceptional uniformity. The new-to-market design features a matte black reflector that minimizes surface brightness and keeps uplight to a minimum, with virtually no impact on distribution performance. Available from 250 to 8000 lumens within symmetric or asymmetric distributions and an optional Asymmetric Shield accessory, Invisio is the perfect balance between comfort and performance.
27
A familiar form, reimagined An organically inspired shape softens the presence of the Invisio optic, allowing it to integrate seamlessly into human-scaled environments. Evoking the clarity of prismatic glass, the rhythm of ocean waves, or a lighthouse on a shore, its sculptural design draws subtle inspiration from the natural world.

Asymmetric Type:
SOFTER LIGHT FOR VIBRANT URBAN NIGHTS The Asymmetric distribution provides soft, smooth illumination that enhances faces and surrounding architectural elements. It contributes to a comfortable and visually pleasant nighttime atmosphere. It directs light to one side, making it versatile for a wide range of applications while maintaining a human-centered approach to lighting. Ideal for urban environments, the Asymmetric distribution helps create inviting outdoor spaces that encourage people to enjoy and engage with the city at night.
