Lumby Midget Stars 2019-2020 OMAHA Female Super League Champions
15 games,11 wins,2 ties,2 losses and a lot of smiles and laughter. That’s a wrap for regular season play and the Lumby Stars Midgets are this years league champions! The Stars worked hard as a team all season and won the OMAHA 2019-2020 Female Super League. Congratulations to Tyra Cunningham, Jordyn Pryor, Tori Maltman, Josey Nerling, Mia Maltman, Shaina Jones, Jordyn Morris,
Brooklynn Walters, Emma Roine, Jacqueline Watson, Emily Romailler, Paige McLaughlin, Nicola Harper, Lily Fiset, Shirelle Nickoli, Jenna Maltman, Amelia Nagy, Kalen Webster, Somer Snobelen. These fine young ladies are coached by these fine not so young people(sorry gotta lump you in Ali) Head Coach Jon Kineshanko, Assistant Coaches Chris Pryor, Bryan McLaughlin, Ali Roin.
Lumby Bantam Stars
The first game of the playoffs for the Bantam Lumby Stars sponsored by Bannister GM faced off on Saturday against Vernon 1 (Murray) at the Pat Duke Arena. First period was scoreless and then Grady Krause got the stars on the scoreboard 4 minutes into the second period with assists going to Tori Maltman and Riley Dewhirst. Vernon tied it up and then Jace Catt scored from Krause and Jenna Maltman. Vernon came back in the third and scored 2 goals to win 3-2. Sunday afternoon the Bantam stars hosted the league champions Salmon Arm 1 (Gervais). First period was scoreless and then Krause had a beauty breakaway goal to put the

James Wraight had the shutout. The Pat Duke Memorial Arena was rocking Monday night with the Bantam Lumby Stars coming back from being down 2-0 and winning 5-2. Grady Krause and Tori Maltman both sniped in two sweet goals each and Riley Dewhirst had a bullet from the point and hit the top right hand corner. Jace Catt picked up 2 assists while James Wraight earned the win between the pipes. It was a complete team effort from Jaida Sauvie, Kiel Hayward, Colton Young, Raye Agema, Matthew Yaremcio were looking for a third regular season NOSL banner to finish off their last year. The team used great offence and Defense both on the ice and in net to rise to the challenge and come on top 5-1 to become North Okanagan Super League 2019/20 Champions in front of a loud and proud home town crowd. The first period had a lot of back and forth opportunities with both net minders making several great saves. Ethan Keber kept the Salmon arm team off the scoreboard until just under 4 minutes left in the game on a power play rush Quintin O’Neil in the corner found Linden Catt who made no mistake in burying the puck into the back of the net to go up 1-0 to end the first period. Just 45 seconds into the second period Tye Krause made a great move to break away and make it 2-0 unassisted. The Salmon Arm team made it 2-1 at 11:58 only to have Catt answer back 40 seconds later assisted by Krause and Matthew

Yaremcio to put the lead by 2 again into the ice clean. The Third period was nothing but the Stars as Ryder Quibell found O’Neill to make a great pass into a goal to go up 4-1 at 13:20 of the 3rd. There was many chances with Conner Seehaver ringing one off the post and the Stars defence working hard to keep the puck in the Salmon Arm end and stopping any odd man rushes with the forwards also doing a great job back checking. It was at 2:53 of the 3rd period that Tage Kineshanko made a great pass to Jordyn Morris who scored a beauty to make the final 5-1 and become NOSL Champions. The Stars head into playoffs Jan 22 in Salmon Arm before returning to their home barn for three consecutive games : Sun Feb 23 3-4:45pm vs Salmon Arm 3, Wed Feb 26th 7-9pm vs Salmon Arm 2 , and then Sat Feb 29th 1:30- 3:30 vs North Ok.
