KEY FEATURES Parkfield House is a beautiful period home dating back to 1844. The detached residence sits within 6.3 acres of formal gardens and grounds with woodlands and ponds. Accessed down a long private drive surrounded by woodlands, the house is sat behind secure electric gates in an elevated position overlooking gardens and adjoining grounds. From the gates, a further driveway leads up to the house and provides plenty of parking in front of a large garage with electric doors. A beautiful Oak framed porch sits proudly before the property and welcomes you in to a hallway through an characterful wooden door. To the ground floor there is a beautiful kitchen breakfast room with a Belfast sink, wooden tops and handmade shaker style kitchen cupboards, custom built by Abbey Kitchens of Bath, a generous utility room is located behind the kitchen with a second Belfast sink, storage and doors to the garage and garden, as well as a separate cloakroom. A charming reception room with wooden floors, a wood burning fire and notable period features provides a great space to both relax and dine overlooking the gardens from French doors. A spacious study is tucked away from the living spaces and completes the accommodation to this floor.
HISTORY Historically the house was part of Parkfield Colliery and owned by Handel Cossham, a British colliery owner and politician. Coal was reached in 1853 and was of good quality. Handel Cossham passed away in 1890 and the mine was sold to Bristol United Collieries. 1914 saw a new owner, Sir Frank Beauchamp CBE an industrialist who owned mines in Somerset. He was the first Baronet of the Beauchamp Baronetcy and a city counsellor for 39 years. One of the mines chimneys still stands in the grounds today and can be seen from the house and formal gardens.
Upstairs are four double bedrooms, each enjoying a lovely outlook over the beautiful grounds and woods and a family bathroom. The house features lots of exposed wood throughout and also benefits from a large accessible basement providing the opportunity for further accommodation.
Adjoining the house, situated above the garage is a self-contained annex. The annex is bright and spacious and comprises of a large entrance hall, cosy sitting room, separate kitchen breakfast room, two double bedrooms, a bathroom and an outside terrace. The space offers income potential or a perfect space for anyone wanting a dual accommodation home.
Outside the formal gardens feature drystone walls, large lawns, fruit trees, mature shrubs and flower boarders, as well as a large duck pond fed by a small stream and a south west facing patio outside the main reception room. The grounds extend into picturesque woodlands, a meadow and two further ponds.
