The maps and signs displayed information about relevant spaces in the city area identified as the main centre (a continuous walkable area with many attractors). Other than walking distances information, the totem had wider information about all transport options, bus, taxi and cycling. In addition, all information was imputed in the city website, that cuould be accessed by the available QR codes in the

CYCLING MASTERPLAN IN JUIZ DE FORA, BRAZIL SIGNAGE STRATEGY TO IMPLEMETATION
4. WAYFINDING Visuals for cycle route signs
At the time the city had no cycling infrastructure implemented and the cycling was seen as dangerous, so it was banned from high traffic areas. This project was extremely important to to introduce cycling as part of the city transport plan. With extremely low budget, community and NGO’s were

Due to the extremely hilly terrain, a visual topography study was done to contribute for defining the priority cycle routes. The project consisted on the implementation of cycle routes, that incorporated road painting and vertical signs, aiming to orient mostly drives to be aware and take care of the existing cyclists. A shared path was also proposed on the city river promenade.

Implemented
The revitalization of Niterói’s waterfront is based on the concept of Complete Streets, in order to optimize the high volume of motorized vehicles, pedestrians, and bicycles, as well as the large concentration of shops, services, offices, and transport terminals. The project prioritizes sustainable transport modes, by adding a segregated cycle lane, public transport priority infrastructure, and improved public realm. In addition, the landscape redesign enhances the access to important tourist points such as the Niemeyer Path and the São Pedro Fish Market. The design focuses on creating an integrated identity for the area.

solutions. The proposed urban solution aims for the regeneration of the degraded city center area, increasing people’s sense of value of landmarks and public areas. . The project improves the public realm of the city transport corridors and gives continuity to the pedestrian area, linking the points of interests. Aiming for a bottom up approach, the project includes a participative placemaking phase, followed by a tactical intervention, and finally the definitive design. The final implementation phase is proposed for implementing the definitive form of the street redesign, but also proposes changes in the vehicular circulation in the area.
