The Lugano LongLake Festival is the city's summer festival that transforms Lugano into a vast urban stage for everyone. For 18 days, the lakefront, parks and city squares become venues for socialising, culture and sharing experiences, brought to life by a multi-disciplinary programme of music, performances, talks, urban art, family activities, street performers and experiences taking place across the city. ROAM è l’outdoor club del LongLake Festival, immerso nel Boschetto del Parco Ciani. ROAM is the LongLake Festival’s outdoor club, nestled in the Boschetto del Parco Ciani. Lugano Buskers is the section dedicated to street art that brings the LongLake Festival to a close by transforming Lugano’s lakefront, city centre, parks and alleyways into a vibrant open space dedicated to socialising, music and creativity. For fve days, artists from all over the world fll the city with concerts, travelling performances, acrobatics, street theatre and moments of urban poetry. A spontaneous, direct, inclusive experience with no barriers between audiences and the artists.

L’opera effmera di Elia Varini, concepita per il LongLake Festival 2026 nel quadro di Arte Urbana Lugano (AUL), si confgura come un parallelepipedo attraversabile a grandezza naturale (3,5 × 3,5 metri): uno spazio rosso in cui il pubblico può entrare e sostare. La struttura è composta da settanta metri di rete rossa disposti attorno a settantanove pali di abete, che defniscono un quadrato aperto verso l’alto e accessibile attraverso un’apertura laterale.
La ricerca artistica di Varini si sviluppa attorno alla costruzione di strutture spaziali essenziali e modulari, che defniscono perimetri attraversabili più che volumi chiusi. Attraverso interventi che mettono in relazione corpo, spazio, luce e colore, il suo lavoro indaga una dimensione introspettiva generata dall’essenzialità formale. L’installazione realizzata per il festival si inserisce pienamente in questa ricerca: la rete rossa semitrasparente delimita un perimetro senza mai chiuderlo completamente, lasciando fltrare luce, paesaggio e movimenti del parco.
Nel contesto dinamico del festival, l’opera si propone come un piccolo rifugio temporaneo: uno spazio contemplativo che invita il pubblico a rallentare, fermarsi e prendere per un momento distanza dal fusso delle attività. L’apertura è orientata verso il lato meno visibile del parco, così che l’accesso si riveli gradualmente, trasformando l’ingresso in una scoperta discreta.

OPENING OF ELIA VARINI’S INSTALLATION:
SEVENTY METRES OF RED NETTING ARRANGED AROUND SEVENTY-NINE FIR POLES TO FORM A SQUARE
Elia Varini’s ephemeral work, specially designed for the 2026 LongLake Festival as part of Arte Urbana Lugano (AUL), takes the form of a life-size parallelepiped (3.5 × 3.5 metres) that people can walk through: a red space where you can enter and linger for a moment. The structure consists of seventy metres of red netting arranged around seventy-nine fr poles, making a square that is open at the top and can be entered via a side opening.
Varini’s artistic practice revolves around the construction of essential, modular spatial structures with traversable perimeters rather than enclosed volumes. His works explore the relationship between form, space, light and colour, as he investigates an introspective dimension shaped by a formal essence. The installation created for the festival fts perfectly within this search: the semi-transparent red netting marks out a perimeter without ever closing it off completely, allowing the light, landscape and movements of the park to flter through.
Within the festival's dynamic setting, the installation offers a small temporary refuge - a contemplative space inviting people to slow down, pause and step back for a moment from the bustle of activity. The opening faces the less visible side of the park, so that the access point is revealed gradually, transforming the entrance into a subtle discovery.
OPENING: THE PUBLIC IS INVITED TO THE INSTALLATION’S OPENING, WHICH WILL BE AT 18:00 ON 9 JULY IN FRONT OF THE WORK, TO SHARE AN INITIAL MOMENT TO SEE AND EXPERIENCE THE SPACE. IN THE EVENT OF RAIN, THE EVENT WILL BE HELD INSIDE THE DARSENA BOATHOUSE.

Two adventurers navigate between dream and reality on a strange barge suspended on a steel wire. Amidst storms, sharks, rebellion and tango, the show combines tightrope walking and theatre in a poetic and engaging story for all ages. Da questa esperienza nasce un'autobiografa intensa che racconta il percorso della malattia, tra paura, speranza e rinascita. Una testimonianza personale che diventa rifessione sul senso della vita, della fede e di una leadership più autentica.
On 16 December 2021, Riccardo Braglia, a businessman and manager in the pharmaceutical sector, discovered he had acute myeloid leukaemia. This experience led him to write a powerful autobiography telling the story of his journey through the illness, amidst fear, hope and rebirth. A personal testimony that becomes a refection on the meaning of life, faith and a more authentic form of leadership.

A journey suspended between the real and the imaginary accompanies an old aviator through memories, fantasy and extraordinary creatures. Aboard an imaginary hot-air balloon, the audience encounters fantastical animals, comical characters and gigantic fgures on stilts, in a poetic and surprising show made up of music, images and striking visuals.

Batukizer, the Brazilian-Danish DJ duo made up of Carla and Rasmus, has been passionately exploring Brazilian and tropical music for over a decade. Their sets blend rare tracks, regional sounds and percussion to create vibrant, high-energy dancefoors. At the Festival, Carla will represent the duo behind the decks, bringing her experience as a singer, DJ and music researcher. They say it’s rubbish, but it is simply a heap of non-contemporary circus junk. A parodic clown show featuring Frank Duro and Gustavo Leumann. Rejected by both Nouveau Cirque and traditional circus, they created Circo Pacco and chase the spotlight amid popcorn, comic magic and failed acrobatics.

Tra tekno, noise e ritmi tribali, costruisce live intensi e fsici basati su pad elettronici e batteria acustica. Dopo Kilo40 (2018), è al lavoro su un nuovo album in uscita nell’autunno 2026.

Miss Jay is a Romanian DJ and producer based in Milan, known for her eclectic sound blending experimental electronics, underground infuences and high-energy club music. Originally rooted in the hardcore metal scene, she has developed a distinctive style that moves seamlessly between club and bass-driven sounds. Her releases have appeared on labels including Warp Records, International Chrome, ec2a and 99cts Records.

Calicá è una DJ e produttrice colombiana con base a Basilea. Attivista per la cura e il benessere nella scena club, guida il progetto Rave&Care ed è membro del collettivo Calorosa per persone queer e alleate. La sua musica rifette le sue transizioni personali, muovendosi tra electrocumbia, Latin bass, house, dub, breakbeat e techno.
Calicá is a Colombian DJ and producer based in Basel. An advocate for care and wellbeing in the club scene, she leads the Rave&Care project and is a member of the Calorosa collective for queer people and allies. Her music refects her personal transitions, moving between electrocumbia, Latin bass, house, dub, breakbeat and techno.

Durante il Festival, il punto noleggio pattini TiSkate invita il pubblico a scegliere la propria taglia, allacciare i pattini e partire alla scoperta del lungolago chiuso al traffco, tra Piazza Rezzonico e il LAC. In alcune serate saranno inoltre proposte attività dedicate ai bambini in un’area sicura, mini lezioni per principianti, giochi promozionali con piccoli premi e momenti dimostrativi di skater hockey e pattinaggio artistico su rotelle.
This summer, Lugano’s lakefront is all about movement. During the Festival, the TiSkate skate hire point invites you to pick your size, lace up your skates and set off to explore the lakeside promenade, which will be closed to traffc between Piazza Rezzonico and the LAC. On certain evenings, there will also be activities for children in a safe area, mini lessons for beginners, promotional games with small prizes, and demonstrations of roller hockey and artistic roller skating.

LABORATORI DI CULTURA URBANA MEDIAZIONE GIOVANI 2025/2026
Dopo tre anni di sperimentazione dei Laboratori di Cultura Urbana Mediazione Giovani, che hanno coinvolto oltre 60 classi delle scuole superiori ticinesi, l’edizione 2025/2026 ha visto protagonisti gli studenti della Scuola d’Arti e Mestieri di Trevano. Attraverso il progetto Isole d’estate, gli allievi hanno ideato soluzioni temporanee per rigenerare lo spazio pubblico e affrontare gli effetti del cambiamento climatico nelle aree urbane. I Laboratori di Cultura Urbana Mediazione Giovani sono ideati e promossi da Istituto Internazionale di Architettura in collaborazione con la Città di Lugano con il sostegno della Divisione della Scuola del DECS, di Coop Cultura, e la collaborazione di Veragouth e Xilema. L’iniziativa mira a mitigare il fenomeno delle isole di calore e a promuovere nuovi modi di vivere gli spazi pubblici.
After three years of piloting the Youth Mediation Urban Culture Workshops, which saw the involvement of over 60 classes from secondary schools across Ticino, the 2025/2026 edition featured students from the Trevano School of Arts and Crafts. Through the Heat Islands project, the pupils came up with temporary solutions to regenerate public spaces and tackle the effects of climate change in urban areas. The Urban Culture Workshops –Youth Mediation are conceived and promoted by the International Institute of Architecture, in collaboration with the City of Lugano, with the support of the School Division of the Department of Education, Culture and Sport (DECS), Coop Culture, and in collaboration with Veragouth and Xilema. The initiative aims to reduce the heat island effect and promote new ways of experiencing public spaces.

Le box, curate da professionisti ticinesi con ingredienti locali, includono un Sambì o una tisana olivone, un gadget e una tovaglia (da restituire). Sarà possibile acquistare vino di produzione biologica e locale dell'Azienda Agricola Bianchi, Sambì e alcune proposte analcoliche ticinesi. Per partecipare, è necessario prenotare indicando se si desidera la Mystery Box vegetariana o onnivora e le eventuali allergie. I posti sono limitati e l’evento si svolgerà solo in caso di bel tempo (conferma 48 ore prima). La prenotazione è obbligatoria.

There will be food trucks in Parco Ciani serving food and drinks. For accepted payment methods, please check with the individual food trucks on-site. Lugano Marittima, just a few metres from Parco Ciani, at the mouth of the Cassarate River, also offers a variety of food and drinks. Payment can be made by card, cash and LVGA. There are several drinking water fountains in Parco Ciani.

Il Longlake Festival si impegna a creare un ambiente accogliente, sicuro e inclusivo, dove tutte le persone possano sentirsi benvenute e partecipare nel rispetto reciproco.
Il Festival aderisce alla Carta Etica degli Eventi della Città di Lugano , elaborata dalla Divisione eventi e congressi insieme alla Divisione Socialità, che promuove una cultura del rispetto, dell’ascolto e dell’attenzione alle persone negli spazi dedicati agli eventi. Chiunque subisca o assista a una forma di discriminazione può rivolgersi allo Staff dell’evento attraverso una richiesta discreta: «Posso parlare con Angela?».
Durante il Festival sarà presente lo stand “Via Vai… ma se vuoi stai!”, progetto di prevenzione promosso dalla Città di Lugano e coordinato dalla Divisione Socialità: uno spazio aperto e informale dove trovare ascolto, informazioni e orientamento su temi legati alla salute, al consumo di sostanze e al benessere personale. Ad accogliere il pubblico ci saranno giovani formati (peer educator), disponibili al dialogo in un ambiente sicuro e non giudicante.
Saranno inoltre presenti associazioni e progetti partner attivi nell’ambito della prevenzione, della sensibilizzazione, della riduzione del danno e del supporto alle persone, tra cui Radix, con attività di informazione e prevenzione, il Progetto Danno – Radix, dedicato alla riduzione del danno in contesto notturno, e Zonaprotetta, associazione attiva nella promozione della salute sessuale, della prevenzione delle infezioni sessualmente trasmissibili (IST) e dei diritti sessuali, attraverso un approccio inclusivo, accogliente e non giudicante. Queste realtà hanno contribuito alla definizione della Carta Etica degli eventi del Festival. Il Festival aderisce inoltre a It’s Ready – per una cultura condivisa della festa, label di Radix per eventi che promuovono la salute, la protezione della gioventù e una cultura della festa responsabile.
→ INCLUSION AND PREVENTION
The Longlake Festival is committed to creating a welcoming, safe and inclusive environment, where everyone can feel welcome and participate in a spirit of mutual respect.
The Festival is subject to the City of Lugano’s Ethical Code for Events , drawn up by the events and conventions Division in collaboration with the Division of Social Affairs. The Code promotes a culture of respect, listening and care for people within event venues. Anyone who experiences or witnesses any form of discrimination can discreetly approach the event staff by asking,"Can I speak to Angela?".
During the Festival, the “Via Vai… ma se vuoi stai!” ("Come and go...but stay if you want!") stand will be present – a prevention project promoted by the City of Lugano and coordinated by the Division of Social Affairs: an open and informal space where you can find a listening ear, information and guidance on issues related to health, substance use and personal wellbeing. The public will be welcomed by trained young people (peer educators), available to talk in a safe and non-judgemental environment.
Also present will be partner associations and projects active in the fields of prevention, raising awareness, harm reduction and support for individuals, including Radix, with information and prevention activities; the Progetto Danno–Radix, dedicated to reducing health and safety risks in nightlife settings; and Zonaprotetta, an association active in promoting sexual health, the prevention of sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) and sexual rights, through an inclusive, welcoming and non-judgemental approach. These organisations have contributed to the drafting of the Festival’s events Code of Ethics. In addition, the Festival supports It’s Ready – for a shared culture of partying, a Radix label for events that promote health, the protection of youth and a culture of responsible partying.

Il LongLake Festival desidera essere uno spazio sempre più aperto, accessibile e accogliente per tutte le persone. Con la preziosa collaborazione della Fondazione Romulus, che ha contribuito anche all’implementazione della Carta Etica degli Eventi della Città di Lugano, il Festival ha avviato un lavoro volto a migliorare l’accessibilità della manifestazione, con particolare attenzione alle persone con diffcoltà motorie e all’identifcazione di misure che possano favorire una partecipazione più ampia e inclusiva.
L’accessibilità è un tema che richiede ascolto e attenzione costanti: suggerimenti, osservazioni e feedback sono per noi strumenti preziosi per comprendere meglio i bisogni del pubblico.

The LongLake Festival aims to be an increasingly open, accessible and welcoming space for everyone. With the invaluable collaboration of the Romulus Foundation, which also contributed to the implementation of the City of Lugano’s Code of Ethics for Events, the Festival has launched an initiative to improve accessibility, with a particular focus on people with mobility issues and on identifying measures that encourage wider and more inclusive participation.
