Welcome The Hagley Golf & Country Club is set in 170 acres of beautiful English countryside with picturesque views of the Clent Hills.

History The first ‘Hagley Golf Club’ opened in 1891 but closed soon afterwards. It did not reappear until 1980 and has now been an active and vibrant Club for over 36 years.

Construction of the Clubhouse and Course started in 1976 on farmland being Hagley Wood and Client Villa Farms and a residential caravan site. The Golf and Country Club was originally the dream of Neville Garratt and is still owned and run by the Garratt family.

The Course started with nine holes and a second nine were added in 1984. The Course has been greatly improved over three decades.

The Greenkeeper’s accommodation was added in 2000. The Driving Range and Golf Academy was opened by the Dudley Mayor in 2008. The Men’s locker room and Business Suites opened in 2014/15 and the Ladies locker room was completed and opened by Alison Nicholas in 2016.

The Hagley Golf and Country Club is now firmly established as a leading Club in the Worcestershire/Midlands region and looks to the future with anticipation and optimism.

Key Holes The course provides a challenge for all standards of golfer and is one of contrasts.

The front nine holes are on fairly flat ground and the back nine holes are more hilly. Our signature hole is the 557 yards 15th, also known as ‘The Monster’, but all holes should be played with care as most have a surprise!

The front nine begins with a good view of the monument, hole 3 is a lovely Par 3 with a stunning backdrop encircling the green, the 5th hole will test your risk vs reward mentality and our 366 yards 9th hole, named Club Corner, will see you negotiate a sharp dog-leg to the right.

The back nine starts with the Wassell Dingle, the 13th hole involves negotiating an elevated green, Turner Hill our 14th hole has a sensational view before you surrender to the ‘The Monster’ and our 18th hole appropriately titled Home will see you using the fountain as a point of reference.

Hole 1 - The Monument hole. 306 yards Par 4. This is a comfortable starting hole Par 4 that requires a steady drive down the fairway leading to a mid iron into a small green. You need to take care as there is out of bounds to the right and a tree line and culvert to the left. Bunkers guard left and right of the green. Take half a club more than you need as anything on the front of the green will spin back off the leading slope.

Hole 2 - Clent Hills which is 393 yards - a long Par 4. There is a threat all down the right with out of bounds and a pond at the corner of the dogleg, just about driving distance. Take note of the pin position flag on this long green protected by a bunker on the left.

Hole 3 - Badgers is 131 yards and a tricky Par 3. Avoid the right of the green, which has a deep bunker waiting and trees to the right and rear of the green. There is a bail out option to the left for the more cautious by going in left and chipping in sideways.

Hole 4 - The aptly named Warren - 450 yards and a long Par 4 with stunning views across the green. You will need two good hits. Keep to the left with your drive as this gives a better line for a long second shot into a green, which is protected by a bunker to the front left and a deep bunker on the right.

Hole 5 - Foxes is 316 yards and a short Par 4 hole where the adventurous golfer can cut the dogleg by driving the corner of the left hand trees thus giving a better line into the green. More experienced golfers will drive to the apex of the dogleg leading to a short to mid iron onto a green protected by a small bunker to the right.

Course Tour Hole 6 - Turnpike another 141 yards hole and a tricky Par 3. There are bunkers to the left and right. Don’t overshoot the green as there is trouble behind.

Hole 7 - Mile Oak takes you across 353 yards and is a comfortable Par 4 once you have negotiated the feature oak tree, which splits the middle of the fairway. Beware of out of bounds down the left handside with bunkers left and right of the green.

Hole 8 - Wychbury a challenging 511 yards Par 5 that requires a well struck drive to enable a second shot to carry the two ponds which cut over the fairway. Beware of the drainage culvert crossing the fairway just short of the green and a large bunker on the left of the green.

Hole 9 - You are now almost half way through as you reach the 9th hole on our Club Corner, a 366 yards stretch which is a Par 4. This requires a good drive down the left to give a better angle onto the green around a sharp dogleg. Be aware of the front right hand bunker if you attempt to cut the dogleg by going over the trees.

You have now successfully completed the outward fairly flat nine holes with numerous bunkers – now for the challenging return nine, which are hillier with more tree, lined fairways.

Hole 10 - Wassell Dingle is a full 408 yards.

A difficult Par 4 which requires a good drive over a pond and needs to be to the left of the feature trees. Take one club less for your second shot as the approach to the green has a downward slope as does the front half of the green. There is a bunker to the left and to the rear, which stops an overhead shot running into real trouble.

Hole 11 - Garratt Coppice a 504 yards stretch Par 5. Here a good drive is required to clear the deep ravine splitting the fairway.

Beware of out of bounds to the left hand side with a small bunker short left of the green and with a larger bunker protecting the right hand side. Anything over hit will run into a line of fir trees.

Course Tour Hole 12 - Beeches - 199 yards. A feature Par 3 with out of bounds on the left hand side and around the back of the green. Bunkers protect both left and right. There is an easier option, play short and right of the green for a simple chip in.

Hole 13 - Lutley Plateau is 428 yards long, a tough Par 4 that requires two very good shots to reach an elevated green. A good approach shot would be aimed to the left as it gathers into the green from there. Beware as anything right will feed into a deep right hand bunker.

Hole 14 - Turners Hill 311 yards, a comfortable par 4 once you have cleared the left and right fairway bunkers. However there are also bunkers to the left and right of the green so anything over hit will be in real trouble.

Hole 15 - This is our signature hole, aptly named ‘The Monster’, 557 yards and a potential card wrecker of a Par 5. This hole requires a good drive past the feature oak tree in the centre of the fairway. A long second shot needs to be right of centre on a narrowing fairway to give an approach shot into a two tiered green surrounded by oak trees. There is out of bounds to the left hand side and a deep bunker protecting the right hand side of the green.

Hole 16 - Hagley Woods which is 359 yards and a pleasant Par 4. This requires an accurate tee shot down the right hand side of the fairway and an approach shot to a sloping green, which gathers in from the left. A deep bunker protects the right hand side of the green.

Hole 17 - Hawthorn, 155 yards a simple Par 3 if you can avoid the mouth and ears bunkers to the front, left and right of the flat green. A tee to green shot will need to fly over the front bunker.

Hole 18 - Home! 488 yards Par 5. One of the most delightful holes. This requires a well struck drive to carry a deep ravine. A careful second shot needs to come up short of the two ponds spanning the fairway leaving a mid iron shot into a sloping green. Protected by a deep bunker front left and a further green side bunker on the right at the back.

Be careful of any downhill putt as the green is sloped towards the pond.

Visitors and Green Fees Casual Golf players visiting Hagley Golf and Country Club are very welcome to play throughout Monday to Friday. It is best to check possible tee off times with the Pro-shop in case an important competition is being played. All current prices are listed on our website under ‘Visitors and Golf Societies’.

Non-member golfers can only play on the weekends if accompanied by a 7-Day Hagley Golf member, and only after 10.00am.

Golf Societies Hagley Golf and Country Club is a popular venue for Golf societies, many of whom have become regular visitors and are now regarded as friends who return year after year. Our many society packages offer really good value for money.

We also cater for and give special concessions for Golf societies on Captain’s away days, Charity Golf days and Corporate away days.

Golf Societies are welcome at anytime Monday to Friday throughout the year and the Club ensures your whole day is carefully planned.

The Clubhouse Whether it’s a quick coffee with friends, a drink with your Golf partners after playing a round or just satisfying the hunger pangs, you will find the Clubhouse a congenial atmosphere with attentive and helpful staff who will go out of their way to make you feel welcome.

The Clubhouse has three bars and four function rooms.

Bar 19 is open to all members of the public.

It is the bar of choice for Driving Range customers. It opens from 10.30am for bacon sandwiches and coffee. From 12 noon until 2.30pm and from 6.00pm until 9.00pm (except Sundays) it offers a selective snack bar menu. This bar also has Sky Sports Channels and regularly shows not only Golf Opens, but Cricket and Football matches. A large selection of beverages including real ales are available.

There is a very casual dress policy in this bar so you can just come in and enjoy a pint with a bar snack while you watch your favourite match whenever you like.

Dresscode: Casual dress is acceptable.

Dingle Bar is a smart casual dress restricted bar that is very popular with all members.

Overlooking the 10th and 18th holes, one can watch the golfers finish their round, and enjoy a drink and a meal from the food menu. This is the ideal place to relax and socialise with your beverage of choice after meeting the challenges put out by the Golf Course.

Dresscode: Smart Casual dress at all times.

The Hawthorn Suite with its stunning views overlooking the Golf course, it has its own patio and private bar. It hosts a weekly traditional three course Sunday Lunch, where a 10% discount applies to all members. This room is also available for private hire by Members and non- Members for Cabaret Nights, Anniversaries, Birthday parties and Funeral Wakes. Private Parties of up to 140 people and formal sit down dinner parties up to 100 can be catered for.

The Driving Range Our ‘State of the Art’ Driving Range has 28 Floodlit Bays including 8 heated bays, Fibrebuilt strike golf mats, a Power Tee automated pop up system and top quality ‘Srixon’ Balls. The facility also has a short game practice area, which includes a putting and chipping green and two practice bunkers. The Range is open 7 days a week.

There is a well equipped teaching studio, with the latest swing analyser software. The Golf shop stocks all the major brands, with a price match guarantee. There is a full Golf customised fitting service with trained PGA Qualified Professionals. We also supply Golf Clubs for use on the Range.
