Welcome from the Headmaster We’ve been busy since the term kicked off in early January and I hope you enjoy flicking through this edition of The Ludgrovian. A sense of purpose underpins everything we do and these pages give a flavour of the breadth of education that Ludgrove life offers. Academically we are as ambitious as ever and we also reach for the stars on the creative, dramatic, musical and sporting fronts. Amongst everything, we celebrate the scholarships and exhibitions our boys have been awarded so far this year in academia, music and sport and it is heart-warming to witness the pride that the boys take in the achievements of their peers. We have had a concerted ‘push’ on ‘Standards’ - the importance of taking pride in your appearance, good manners, being on time, looking after each other and the school, as well as the value of ambition and teamwork. are fundamental to a happy school. The 19th century author Edward Hale wrote “No one can do everything, but everyone can do something” and we encourage the boys at every opportunity to be the best version of themselves. There have been many highlights of the term: The Townsend Warner History Prize, brilliant rugby and hockey matches, Enrichment Lectures, the UK Maths Challenge, World Book Day, Solo Singing Cup, the Speeches Competition, the IIIs’ performance of ‘The Greatest Show’, National Fives Champions, the Charity Concert, the Inter-Set General Knowledge competition and Mastermind… I could go on. There is a happy atmosphere around the School which enables the boys to thrive – a big thank you to one and all who work to make Ludgrove such a special place and well done to the boys for all they have achieved.
