‘THE LUNG OF THE CITY’ UNDERGRADUATE PROJECT LOCATION: PARK ROYAL, LONDON THIS PROJECT IDENTIFIES THE CURRENT STATE OF REGENERATION HAPPENING IN PARK ROYAL, THE LARGEST BUSINESS PARK IN LONDON. ALIGNING WITH THIS REGENERATION SCHEME, I DESIGNED AN URBAN GREENING STRATEGY INCLUDING THE INTRODUCTION OF MORE SPECIES INTO THE BUSINESS-HEAVY DISTRICT. THE ‘LUNG’ ACTS AS A HUB FOR ALL OF THE DECISIONS AND ACTIONS TO AID THE ENHANCEMENT OF BIODIVERSITY CITY-WIDE. WITH A FOCUS ON RESEARCH INTO POLLUTION ISSUES IN THE CITY, THE STRATEGY WORKS TO MAKE AND INSPIRE GREEN ADDITIONS TO THE CITY TO ABSORB THE CO2 EMISSIONS. THE WAREHOUSE/ CONTROL BUILDING ACTS AS A HUB TO HELP SOLVE A MAJOR PROBLEM RATHER THAN HAVING A MAIN FOCUS ON CREATING AN EXPERIENCE FOR ITS VISITORS

Vectors which support my proposal are also part of the user group. I have chosen to house and attract wasps, bees, moths, General public butterflies and humans to my building to help with the spread of pollen and increase biodiversity in Park Royal. Human’s scope could range from 3km - 20,000km depending Materials for ‘green architecture’ on how far the person has to travel to get to the building for work/meeting/visit.

BY RESEARCHING T HE SCOPE THAT THE MOST COMMON BUGS IN THE AREA TRAVEL TO, I DESIGNED THE EXTERIOR WALL TO HOUSE THEM AND ACT AS A NEW BASE TO LIVE IN. DUE TO THE CREATION AND DISPERSION OF THE GREEN ARCHITECTURAL ELEMENTS FROM THE LUNG, A CONTROL OF POLLINATION COULD BE IMPLEMENTED INTO PARK ROYAL.

‘THE BARNACLE’ UNDERGRADUATE PROJECT LOCATION: BLACKPOOL NORTH PIER, BLACKPOOL, UK ACKNOWLEDGING THE CURRENT GLOBAL PALM OIL CRISIS, BLACKPOOL IS AMONG THE MANY COASTAL TOWNS ON THE WEST SHORE OF ENGLAND THAT EXPERIENCES PALM OIL WASH UP ON THEIR BEACHES. THIS IS AS A RESULT OF THE BUSY SHIPPING CORIDOR IN BETWEEN IRELAND AND WESTERN ENGLAND, ALONG WITH THE INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING LAWS STATING THAT CARGO SHIPS ARE LEGALLY ALLOWED TO WASH PALM AND OTHER OILS INTO THE SEA WHEN 22+KM AWAY FROM THE SHORELINE. BY PROVIDING PALM OIL SOAP MAKING WORKSHOPS FOR CHILDREN IN THE LOCAL AREA AND PUBLISHING A WEEKLY NAME-ANDSHAME FOR COMPANIES WHO DO NOT USE SUSTAINABLY PRODUCED PALM OIL IN THEIR PRODUCTS, THE BARNACLE WORKS TO RAISE AWARENESS OF THE WIDER GLOBAL ISSUE.

HOT WATER IS THEN ADDED, AND IT IS MIXED. IT IS THEN PLACED THROUGH A GIANT SIEVE WHICH IS CONTROLLED BY PULLEYS ON THE GROUND FLOOR. THE SAND IS THEN HELD AT THE NEXT LEVEL TO LET IT AIR DRY. IT IS THEN DROPPED DOWN THROUGH A FULLEN INTO A BIG OVEN AT GROUND LEVEL, MONITORED BY TWO SCIENTISTS. IT IS THEN COOKED AND COOLED, THEN PLACED IN A CONTAINER, READY TO BE DISPERSED AGAIN.

SCIENCE AND DINING BUILDING FOR EMANUEL SCHOOL PRACTICE PROJECT DURING PART 1 PLACEMENT LOCATION: BATTERSEA RISE, LONDON, UK
RENDER OF NORTH APPROACH TO PROPOSAL WITH HARD AND SOFT LANDSCAPING
WHILST WORKING AT DESIGN ENGINE ARCHITECTS, I HAVE WORKED ON A PROJECT FOR EMANUEL SCHOOL THROUGH STAGES 3 AND 4. THE PROPOSED DEVELOPMENT REPLACES AN EXISTING BUILDING, WHICH CONTAINED THE DESIGN TECHNOLOGY WORKSHOPS AND STAFF ROOMS, WITH A NEW SCIENCE DEPARTMENT, DINING HALL AND ASSOCIATED CATERING PROVISION. THE PROJECT’S SITE IS CHALLENGING DUE TO ITS LOCATION IN BETWEEN TWO VERY BUSY NETWORK RAILWAYS ON THE APPROACH TO CLAPHAM STATION. BECAUSE OF THIS, WE HAVE HAD TO MAINTAIN CONVERSATION AND TAKE ADVICE FROM NETWORK RAIL THROUGHOUT THE PROJECT. WHEN I JOINED THE PROJECT AT STAGE 3, THE MAIN GOALS AND BRIEF HAD BEEN DEFINED SO I WAS TASKED WITH AIDING MY TEAM IN DEVELOPING THE FINER DETAILS OF THE PROJECT AND EDITING AND EXPORTING 2D AND 3D REPRESENTATION DRAWINGS FROM SKETCHUP AND ARCHICAD.
RENDER OF SOUTH APPROACH TO PROPOSAL WITH HARD AND SOFT LANDSCAPING
DURING THE PROJECT I HAVE BEEN TASKED TO KEEP THE SKETCHUP MODEL UP TO DATE IN COMPARISON WITH OUR WORK IN PROGRESS ARCHICAD MODEL. USING THIS SKETCHUP MODEL, I HAVE CREATED IMAGE WHICH HAVE BEEN INDLUDED IN THE DESIGN AND ACCESS STATEMENT FOR PLANNING AND TO SHARE WITH VARIOUS CONSULTANTS AS A DESIGN VISUAL AID.
