“A place that provides leadership and resources to a diverse audience that includes community, military leaders, educators, business executives, and entrepreneurs. ” (About the Greater Pensacola Chamber, 2020, October 22.)

Numerous programs and events are offered to help their members develop strategic relationships within the business community!

Pensacola Chamber of Commerce has the mission of seeking “to promote and endeavor in order to improve the quality of life in the region driven by the growth, success, and civic engagement of the business community. ” (About the Greater Pensacola Chamber, 2020, October 22.) The design of the Chamber will focus on the improvement aspect of its mission. It will be achieved by first starting to improve themselves with a new design that promotes wayfinding through engagement within their own business community.

Their vision is to be a “vibrant community working together to ensure a greater Pensacola that is rich in talent and resources, and committed to the ideals of excellence, prosperity, innovation, and responsible growth for future generations. ” (About the Greater Pensacola Chamber, 2020, October 22.) Their vision will influence the design of the Chamber by providing an environment that welcomes and is suitable for the vibrant community to visit and navigate through. This will be achieved by signs, notable separation of spaces through floors and ceilings, and wayfinding/navigation like new floors and directional signs. The vibrance they want to display will be shown through more saturated walls and textures. The welcoming environment will supply the Chamber of Commerce with the diversity and community that they seek to attain their vision.

The Greater Pensacola Chamber is fully committed to “enhancing, promoting, and improving the region through three main focuses: membership, armed services, and government affairs. ” (About the Greater Pensacola Chamber, 2020, October 22.)

It is important for the stakeholders to know that they are “dedicated to providing members with transparent, up to date, reliable information on current events and public policy. ” (About the Greater Pensacola Chamber, 2020, October 22.) They advocate for a sound policy that supports their core values. This policy includes tax cuts and reform, support for veterans and the military, and protection of economic development resources. Pensacola Chamber of Commerce is a place of doing good and helping others, especially those in their community.

The Chamber can benefit from considering factors such as keeping up with their demographic and adapting to it, continuing to build trust with their members, being aware of the competition, and being able to be progressive in all areas, especially the areas of developing with the new generations.

Influences that earned the name Pensacola (Buchanan, D.):

The name Panzacola had Native American origin and was given to Pensacola Bay and the surrounding Spanish settlements (Buchanan, D.). This term was first presented by Juan Jordán de Reina who encountered Native Americans and transliterated (write or print a word of letter using the closest corresponding letters of a different language) their word for the Bay area. This group of Native Americans became known to the Spanish as the Panzacolas. As the area changed from Spanish control to English control, the English used their own form of the word. This is where the term Pensacola came from. The image on the right shows how close pensacola and its parts are to the bay

About the city: Located in Florida’s panhandle,

“Pensacola is surrounded by 50-plus miles of coastline which includes the emerald-green Gulf of Mexico waters and crystal clear bay areas. ” “The city has a proud military heritage, thanks to the Naval Air Station. In addition to being the "Cradle of Naval Aviation, " the Pensacola Bay Area is proud to call itself home to the renowned Blue Angels, officially known as the U.S. Navy Flight Demonstration Squadron. ” (City Of Pensacola/About Our City, October 22.) The city’s background is essential when designing a space, since it provides ideas for decoration, materials, finishes and many others.

History: The city of Pensacola was established in 1559 by Don Tristan de Luna and Spanish settlers, Pensacola is America’s First Settlement. Pensacola is often referred to as “The City of Five Flags” , due to the five governments that have ruled it during its history (City Of Pensacola/About Our City, October 22.) The history of Pensacola helps our design process, by giving us history and backgrounds to look at, when creating a space for people to feel at home.

Climate conditions: Pensacola has a humid subtropical climate, with short, mild winters (Dec-Feb) and hot, humid summers (Jun-Sep). Hurricane season is Jun. –Nov. Knowing the climate conditions of Pensacola, affects the search of materials for the interior design process of The Greater Pensacola Chamber.

Mission: "The City of Pensacola will create opportunities and avenues to enhance the quality of life for all citizens through innovation and cooperation in harmony with our core values. ” (City Of Pensacola/About Our City, October 22).

Natural features representative of the area: Pensacola Beach, one of the top 5 beaches in the nation. Located on Santa Rosa Island, also one of the longest barrier islands in the world. In addition to the sugar-white sand and crystal clear emerald waters, Pensacola Beach also offers first-rate fishing, many local hang-outs, and top-notch restaurants, as well as the historic Fort Pickens. Another popular attraction is the Gulf Islands National Seashore, which is the longest stretch of protected seashore in the United States. (City Of Pensacola/About Our City, October 22).
