Something about me

I’m Lucio de Crescenzo, I’m from Naples, I’m twenty-seven years old, I graduated in Architecture - a five-year course of study with a master’s degree - with a score of 110 cum laude at the University of Naples Federico II. I took the qualifying exam and I am registered with the Order of Architects, Planners, Landscape Conservators of Naples

My age pushes me to make plans and therefore look to the future. I really like traveling and making friends with people from different cultures than my own, to open my mind and get new points of view.

With the aim of being able to travel and improve the opportunities for cognitive acquisitions, I studied English and I started studying German during a 6-month study experience at the Beuth University of Applied Sciences in Berlin, where I fell in love with the city and its open-mindedness. Through my experiences, first as a student and then as a professional, I was able to focus my interest in the architectural and urban design sector, and in particular I am fascinated by the field of BIM and integrated and sustainable design in general. From this comes my desire to continue to deepen the subject, certainly in a more practical and tangible way, perhaps also acquiring adequate certifications.

I am very curious and I am fascinated by all the dynamics behind the designing of important projects. I am a person who wants to grow professionally and learn, so if there is something I don’t know or am not familiar with, I make an effort to learn it.

Work dynamics I haven’t encountered before or software I don’t know don’t hold me back, I’ve learned a lot so far and I’m sure I’ll learn just as many. I have a sociable character, initiative, flexibility and adaptability. I work with the same dedication both individually and as a team, I believe I have good communication and coordination skills and I am motivated, but not victimized, by a good dose of healthy ambition. This certainly drives me to want to achieve the best possible result for the work entrusted to me.

Working Projects

Some of the recent projects I have participated in

In the pages illustrated below, 3 different projects are reported to show the variety of typologies of architectural intervention in which I have taken part, and then some of the further works that have characterized my work experience so far.

HOSPITAL AND UNIVERSITY CENTER OF TRENTINO

The project involves the construction of the New Hospital and University Center of Trentino following a logic that will favor the overall interconnection of the different hospital functions, which will be distributed according to a principle of intensity of care, favoring flexibility and optimization of the spatial matrix. The architectural concept of the hospital is based on a balance between functionality, well-being and integration with the urban environment. The fluid geometries are an extension of the natural path of

the Fersina River, while the volumetric articulation, including aerial connecting elements and the location of the additional buildings already present, determines a clear and distinct system of relationships. The use of transparent materials, natural light and green areas defines a continuity with the ecological and infrastructural systems that are constantly changing and welcome the new intervention as a new quadrant of the city of Trento.

ARCHITECTURAL CONCEPT | Design Evolution

PHASE 1 - CONTINUITY AND PRE-EXISTENCES

The pre-existing conditions and constraints of the intervention area articulate the hospital-territory relationship

PHASE 3 - MASSING BETWEEN CITY AND ENVIRONMENT

The new volumes are inserted as an expression of continuity and integration with the context

MAIN STREET | Permeability and community acceptance

PHASE 2 - GUIDELINES AND GENERATIVE MATRIX

The identified geometric matrix is deformed in relation to the significant contextual elements

PHASE 4 - NEW HOSPITAL COMPLEX

The geometric matrix designs the external spaces for a total stitching between area, city and landscape

A hospital conceived as an urban center goes beyond its traditional function as a healthcare facility, becoming a central hub for urban life and a point of reference for the community

MILL - MANUFACTURING, INNOVATION, LEARNING, LOGISTICS

This project proposal is part of a larger intervention called “MILL” - Manufacturing, Innovation, Learning, Logistics”. The regeneration and redevelopment of the area, currently abandoned, aims to create a hub of vitality and innovation, conducive to exchange with other local excellences. It aims to become a true laboratory of innovation and learning, capable of radically transforming the surrounding area. Responding to the needs of relationships with the territory, with particular attention to the relationship with the LIUC University and the City of Castellanza, the project is configured as a place of sharing and collaboration for students, professionals, entrepreneurs and innovation enthusiasts, promoting the exchange of knowledge and the creation of new opportunities. The designed spaces will promote innovation, productivity and learning, integrating nature and architecture to promote the well-being of users.

NEW ANIMAL FACILITY AND LABORATORY

This project proposal reports an intervention of demolition of disused buildings and reconstruction on site of a new building for the breeding of small animals, as well as a new medical care laboratory. The intervention aims to create buildings that integra-

te into the broader context of the Zooprophylactic Institute of Brescia but that, at the same time, use technological solutions that guarantee maximum internal comfort and an increase in the functional and safety performance of the building

urban regeneration through the refunctionalization of the infrastructure hub

The thesis project focuses on a redevelopment and regeneration of the new hub in Piazza Giuseppe di Vittorio (formerly Piazza Capodichino). This design proposal was developed in light of a key idea that guided and oriented each phase of the construction, namely the vision of Piazza Di Vittorio as a hinge element between the Capodichino airport, the Capodimonte wood and the new section of underground line, which a renewed and improved ecological mobility as well as a profound redevelopment and partial refurbishment of the square could have revealed, making evident what was only potentially intuitive on paper. With this redevelopment and expansion of Di Vittorio square the intention is to outline a regeneration of all the spaces currently in a state of abandonment and decay and to introduce new social aggregation points, as well as enhance mobility to make the square a new intermodal and infrastructural hub.

urban redevelopment starting with connection between the University and the CNR

This project fits perfectly into the double meaning of the expression “urban project”, that is, a development strategy or positioning of the city as a whole and concrete intervention on delimited urban parts. It aims to rediscover and emphasize the Vesuvius-Sea reconnection and to enhance the series of functional poles present and added on the transverse that connects the gardens of the Portici Palace to the Granatello port and the Mortelle beach. The project, which is not by chance entitled NET_CAMPUS, starts from the idea of transversal reconnection developed in the editorial office of the PUC in Portici and develops a rejoining that is not only physical to overcome the currently existing barriers, but also metaphorical and functional through the dislocation of reconnected functions, starting with the University center of Federico II with the ENEA scientific center

new social and service center for the Ponticelli district

The project involves the introduction of a new network of roads that connect the different districts of Ponticelli (NA) to the surrounding areas, as well as the definition of a new hierarchy of spaces. The project actions therefore foresee different phases:

1. Create an internal network of roads by strengthening the transversal connections between the various attractive poles

2. Integrate driveways, while giving priority to pedestrian and cycle lanes

3. To connect poles and receptive activities through the generation of a single large ecological path

4. North-south use and permeability of the CIS spaces

5. Densify waste areas and build on a smaller scale by recomposing a new functional mosaic

2018 Highlands, Scotland generation of a housing unit via parametric architecture and modular design

The work involves the design of a “studio apartment” that is entirely built through the use of a lightweight structure that can be transported and assembled by unskilled people.

The project therefore involves the design of numbered pieces to be assembled following an instruction booklet and the invention of a knot to fit the pieces together without the use of adhesives.

The shape of the building is given by the use of arches placed in sequence with different heights and sizes in order to give this particular organic shape to the structure. Each arc reproduces the shape of a catenary, that is a hyperbolic plane curve (similar in appearance to the parabola), but positioned opposite to its natural downward trend. All of it realized using the Grasshopper softwar to obtain a parametric architectur

urban redevelopment throu-

gh reuse and refunctionalization of abandoned elements

The project takes the name of Public Village because the public city is precisely the missing theme at Villaggio Coppola, so the attempt is to create and recover the functions of the humanized space, of the urban community that uses and respects the environment in which it develops.

Therefore, the project expands to include all the elements of the territory, the beach, the sea, the dock, the pine forest to relate them and make them interact with the urbanized spaces.

In particular, the aim is to generate hubs of social and collective aggregation, to outline the related interconnections so as to obtain an urban fabric that at least attempts to follow in the footsteps of the more specifically public one.

The connections are decisive for modifying the shapes and functionality of the area with a compact and exclusive appearance that residential construction.
