JIMMY TELLS BARROW NO to the Sarstoon Protocol Belize City: Thursday 20th December 2018 Guatemalan President Jimmy Morales was in Belize last Friday to attend the LII Summit of the Heads of State for the Sistema de Integración Centro Americana (SICA) where he accepted the Presidency Pro Tempore from Belize’s Prime Minister Dean Barrow who held it since July of 2018. During this time, Foreign Minister Wilfred Sedi Elrington told the press that the Prime Minister would find time to bring up the issue of the Sarstoon protocol with Guatemalan President Morales and press him to a compromise during the Summit. As it is obvious, President Morales did not entertain any other subject outside the agenda and refused to even open a private discussion or offer a compromise on the matter of the Sarstoon protocol with Prime Minister Barrow. As usual, Elrington came out swinging for Guatemala assuring Belizeans that in due time, Guatemala would agree on the protocol. “It is simply that they have not yet honored it, to the extent that we want it honored,” he said. “The suggestion is that they have internal difficulties,
