National Primary Schools Female Football Championships
COPPER BANK RC GIRLS ARE FOOTBALL CHAMPIONS Belmopan, June 10, 2016 The Copper Bank RC School girls from the Corozal District won the 2016 National Primary Schools Football Championships at the Isidoro Beaton Stadium last Thursday and Friday, June 9 – 10. The Copper Bank girls defeated the Independence girls 1-0 in the finals. Dianira Lopez scored the winning goal in the 1st half. In 3rd place, the Orange Walk champions, San Lazaro girls won 2-1 over the Toledo district champions, the Santa Elena Primary girls. Katie Jones scored in the first half. Serafina Choc equalized for the Toledo girls in the second half, but Katie came back to score her 2nd goal of the match. The MVP Award went to Dianira Lopez. The Most Exciting Player Award went to Katie Jones, who played striker, overlapped to defense,
and also played goalkeeper for the San Lazaro team. Chunox SDA boys win football nationals
Belmopan, June 10, 2016 The Chunox 7th Day Adventist Primary School boys from the Corozal District won the National Primary School Football Championship at the Isidoro Beaton Stadium last Thursday and Friday, June 9 – 10. In Game 10, the championship final, the Corozal boys won 1-0, when Elmir Santoya scored the winning goal in the 2nd half. In Game 9, the consolation game for 3rd place, the Dangriga squad was back to full strength, but the Sugar City boys won: 2-0 when David Smith scored in the 1st half and he also converted a penalty in the 2nd half for the 2-0 win. NSC Executive Director Ritchel Dominguez presents team trophies and individual medals to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners; and the MVP award to Romario Martinez. Collet Strikers blowout Face of Belize 4-1 Belize City, June 11, 2016 The Collet Strikers walked over Face of Belize 4-1 in the 2016 SMART Mundialito games at the MCC Garden in Belize City last Saturday. Shemar Gillett scored a goal in each half, while Jevon Theus scored a penalty and Jahren Rivers added a 4th goal. Kaseem Santos scored Face of Belize only consolation goal on a penalty: 4-1 final. Of the day’s four mathes, the only other team which celebrated a win is Carlston FC who stung the Young Warriors 1-0 with a goal by Maximilio Jones. Kent Gabourel wins Weekend Warriors’ road championships Belize City, June 12, 2016 Team Kulture Megabytes won 1st and 2nd places in the Weekend Warriors Cycling Club’s national road championships with Kent “Bob” Gabourel finishing 1st and Vallan Symns 2nd at Leslie’s Imports in Belize City on Sunday, after their 68-mile ride from the Sibun Bridge on the Hummingbird Highway to the city.
