Lucas Paz is a Film and Ads Director, Producer, Screenwriter and Actor with over 100 works released and 40 awards and nominations around the world, experienced in multicultural cinema, television, advertising, theater, installation, urban intervention and performance. For over 10 years his films and performances have focused on marginalized social groups, identity, memory, citizenship and environmental issues, through fiction and documentary. The artist researches the relationship between the filmmaker’s framing as a trigger for experiences and the perception of the audience as an agent. He also researches performance as a language to be explored in public spaces and as a transversal element in the contemporary scene. MFA in Filmmaking from NYFA (USA) and BFA in Theater Directing from USP (BRA). Throughout his 29-year career, he has earned recognition for his work with commendations from the state of California and the city of Los Angeles for his contribution to the arts. Since 2008, he directs (PRE)FORMA-SE Artistic Productions, a multimedia creative co. In addition to working with marketing, management and production, he published - “Vestes de Quê: Vazão a Poemas Presos”, (PRE)FORMA-SE, 2017, released in the US and Brazil, and “Performance in public spaces through the basis of minimal gestures and simple actions”, FAPESP, 2013. A member of Academia Limoeirense de Letras, his works were highlighted on the website of the government of São Paulo (“Moacir: Filhos da Dor”, dance-theater show in swimming pools, 2012) and in the 2013 Retrospective of the most remarkable events in the city of Fortaleza (urban intervention “Rooted”). He was a university professor and Opera artistic director at Azusa Pacific University (USA), and professor of the first film course promoted by Porto Iracema das Artes and by the Culture Department of Crato in this same city. He was Curator of the 10th Los Angeles Brazilian Film Festival. He is a guild actor in the US, SAG-AFTRA, a guild actor and director in Brazil, SATED-CE. In 2017, he presented his own art exhibition "Marés" at Travessa da Imagem/Galpão Super 8, with 98 pieces: paintings, photos and sculptures. He exhibited some of his paintings and performed live “You are indispensable” at the 1st Made in Brazil Art Show at the Brazilian Consulate in Los Angeles. In 2013, he conceived urban interventions in the protests in Parque do Cocó “Enraizados”, “Sal da Terra: Fortaleza +94”, “Abraçaço” and “Decomposição” and the performance “Abraço” at Manifesta, Estoril. In 2012, he performed a series of urban interventions reflecting invisibility, marginality, capital and memory in public spaces around the Vale do Anhangabaú of São Paulo through scientific initiation FAPESP. In 2010, he created installations and performances exploring time and identity: “GALEGORIA”, “T.E.M..P…”, “Physical Poetry for a happy hour”, global performance held annually for 10 years “Minute Recipe for a happy hour: Time in Space”, performance held in seven cities around the world “Necessidade X Supérfluo: Supercidade, nãoseisefluo”.
