DESINING FOR FUNCTIONS- A BETTER AND ADVANCED WHOLESALE MARKET FOR MILAN
The wholesale market host 288 selling slots, wich one of them is composed by 122 sqm of retail area, 149 sqm of drop-off area with a 23 sqm cold room. The slots are paired in two to fit in a structural unit (from arch to arch and they share the same elevator and stairs to get to the offices upstair). The slots can be composed to form an unique selling shop made by as many slot as requested.
Axonometric Masterplan

The new Wholesale market will be composed by: a double wing building as main market areas, a major logistic center, a commercial bridge, an office tower, 4 linear food oriented commercial centers.
The accesses to the wholesale market are on the south side, wich are preferred to be used by trucks and workers (for the proximity of the highway) while the three on the northern side are preferred to be used by cars and clients.
The public space is facing directly to via Varsavia and is more near than the wholesale market to Porta Vittoria station and the tram stop, garanteeing a more easy access for public transportation. The bridge building is used also to connect the two side of Milan wich are now separated by the train line and to connect Porta Vittoria area to the new train station of the project.
The plan is studied in order to optimize efficiency and coerence with the surroinding.
