n Featured Artist: Pat Maines
Pat Maines work perfectly embodies the spirit of our 2025 theme “reNEW!” Her artistry is rooted in adaptive reuse, transforming discarded items into stunning mixed-media creations. From discontinued tile samples to lost chess pieces and even lipstick lids, she breathes new life into objects that others might overlook. Her work is a testament to the beauty of reinvention and the joy of giving things another purpose.
Her attention to detail shines in every piece she creates, whether 3D or 2D. Pat’s innovative use of reused materials is evident in her miniatures, purses, greeting cards, assemblages, and even melted crayon paintings. Each piece invites you to take a closer look and discover the joy of transformation.
As you explore her booth, you’ll see her passion for giving objects a second chance—and perhaps feel inspired to embrace a little creativity and renewal in your own life. For Pat, being a maker is about more than creating art; it’s about sharing the happiness that comes from seeing the world in new ways.

Jennifer Lashbrook, a Dallas-based artist, has gained recognition for her innovative and sustainable approach to art, creating intricate pixilated paper collages from recycled paint swatches. Her artistic journey began during art school when repeated trips to hardware stores sparked inspiration. Drawn to the vibrant organization of paint swatches in the store aisles, she realized the potential of using them as her medium. Rather than mixing paint, she started cutting out swatches to form her compositions. Her early
n Special Visual Artist: “Paint Chip Art” Jennifer Lashbrook
work focused on realism but eventually morphed into her distinctive pixilated style.
The paint swatches she uses are donated by various companies, often as excess materials following updates to their color palettes. By sourcing from multiple companies, Jennifer expands her range of colors, turning discarded materials into a striking palette for her art. Her creative process not only showcases her artistic vision but also emphasizes sustainability.
Viewing her art through a phone enhances its clarity by reducing the size of the image, creating a sharper focus. This effect, akin to changing focal depth, highlights the intricate cohesion of her collages. However, Jennifer relies on her hands and eyes during creation, squinting to blur the squares and carefully selecting hues and values, much like a painter comparing colors.
Each piece is the result of a timeintensive process, as she meticulously arranges swatches through trial and error to achieve the perfect balance. Jennifer’s work is a testament to creativity, patience, and her ability to transform everyday materials into extraordinary art. n jenniferlashbrook.com

Butterflies - Tornado Industrial/Arts
Tornado Industrial/Arts merges industrial expertise with artistic vision, shaping Lubbock’s public art scene. Specializing in large-scale sculpture fabrication and installation, they bring monumental public artworks to life. With a focus on structural integrity and durability, they ensure that public art both captivates and endures. Their work extends beyond galleries, integrating art into Lubbock’s cityscape and daily life.
For the Lubbock Arts Festival, Tornado Industrial/Arts has created two stunning sculptures titled The Majestic Butterflies. Each sculpture features larger-than-life butterflies standing 12 feet tall, with intricately designed wings. These captivating works showcase vibrant colors and dynamic wing patterns, appearing mid-flight to evoke a sense of movement and transformation.
Larry Simmons of Tornado Industrial/Arts states, "The Majestic Butterflies represent the perfect balance between engineering and artistry. Fabricating and installing
these pieces has been a rewarding challenge, and we are honored to contribute to Lubbock's thriving public art scene."
The Majestic Butterflies will be part of an immersive experience at the Lubbock Arts Festival, alongside Del Rio Mullen’s Alice in Wonderlandinspired recycled sculptures and Blooming with Birdie’s Pollinator Tea Party. This interactive exhibit blends fantasy, sustainability, and education, engaging visitors in a meaningful way.
After their debut at the Lubbock Arts Festival, The Majestic Butterflies will become part of the Public Display of Art (PDA) program by the Lubbock Arts Alliance. Installed at high-traffic intersections, they will become a part of the community’s artistic identity for the next two years.
This exhibit is made possible by the Sessions Family Foundation. This program (exhibit) made possible in part by a grant from the City of Lubbock as recommended by Civic Lubbock, Inc. This project is supported by the Texas Commission on the Arts. Viewing of the artwork is included with general admission.

n Special Visual Artist: Sangita Bhutada
Sangita Bhutada is an educationist and an accomplished artist whose journey seamlessly blends her passion for advancing child education and preserving traditional Indian art.
Her artistic journey began in 1997, and she has since emerged as a luminary in the intricate arts of Rangoli and Henna. Rangoli, a traditional decorative folk art of India, is created on floors during auspicious occasions and festivals. This sacred art form, passed through generations, uses vibrant colors, flowers, grains, and intricate patterns to depict geometric shapes and floral designs, reflecting cultural traditions and folklore. Sangita’s illustrious career took flight at a Rangoli camp in India, where she taught 500 youngsters over a month.
Sangita’s creative portfolio includes seven books on Rangoli and eight on Henna art, demonstrating her commitment to preserving and advancing traditional art forms. Her Rangoli themes explore geometric patterns and floral designs, and even innovative surfaces like water and ice.
Her work is prominently showcased across renowned venues such as the Houston Museum of Natural Science and George Brown Convention Center, among others. A recent highlight was an exclusive digital Rangoli design for @toyotausa, brought to life through projection mapping and animations.
Sangita Bhutada’s artistry is not merely decorative but a vibrant expression of cultural heritage, inspiring audiences and keeping traditional Indian art alive for future generations. Viewing of the artwork is included with general admission.
