Burnet Woods Performance Pavilion

For this project we were asked to design a Performance pavilion which would go in Burnet Woods park. The program for this project consisted of a performance stage, accessible access, seating for one to ten people and side viewing pavilions. My goal was to allow shadows into the space while still protecting it from the elements. To do this, I added glass panels which can slide in and out of the roof to combat Cincinnati’s unpredictable weather. I also added paneling along the stage wall to create sound amplification.

Rooftop Pavilion

Spring semester 2022, Professor Whitney Hamaker.

For this project, I was asked to design a rooftop pavilion to sit on the previously existing green roof, on UC DAAP’s 7th floor. The program consisted of seating for at least 10 people, circulation, and viewpoints. In this project, I aimed to force any person using the pavilion to experience all the programmatic elements. To do this, I designed a labyrinth like pavilion to guide people. I also incorporated a linear roof to allow different shadows through out the different times of day. The screen like roof also creates enclosure and compression.

Inhabiting The Painting

Spring semester 2022 , professor Whitney Hamaker.

In this project I pulled inspiration from Maholy Nagy’s panting to create a model which incorporated spaces and circulation. Through extracting various two dimensional compositions i created different digital iterations. Within this design there is always a foreground, middle ground and background as well as places for circulation.

Body Armature

Fall semester 2021, professor Lauren Whinehurst.

In these projects we were asked to design and model an extension of the body which restricts movement in some type of way. My armature restricted arm movement while increasing the height of whoever wears it significantly. I chose to do this so that I could break boundaries, including the average height and width of common things like doors. I also chose to create an armature which looks very heavy and dense but is only five pounds

Stage Set Pavilion

Fall semester 2021, professor Lauren Whinehurst.

In this project we were asked to design a stage set where someone wearing our body armature would perform. Using line, Plane and volume, I designed a set which casts different shadow patterns on the stage and allows for various kinds of circulation.
