Eric Allen, conductor Eric Allen serves the Lubbock Symphony Orchestra as Artistic Director and Conductor of the Lubbock Chamber Orchestra. Allen has led the LCO through stimulating performances of a variety of repertoire including symphonic masterworks, choral collaborations and collaborative solo repertoire. He led the orchestra in recording DJ Sparr’s Through Every Gust of Wind: Four Haiku as part of the Sparr’s album titled Hard Metal Cantus, published on the Innova Label. Dr. Allen also serves as Interim Director of Choral Music at First United Methodist Church in Lubbock.

In addition to his responsibilities with LSO and FUMC, Dr. Allen serves as Associate Professor of Music and Associate Director of Bands at Texas Tech University where his responsibilities include serving as conductor of the Symphonic Band, directing the Contemporary Music Ensemble, teaching conducting, and assisting with the direction of the Goin’ Band f rom Raiderland. He also teaches courses within the Summer Master of Music Education program.

Under Allen’s direction, the Texas Tech Symphonic Band has performed many engaging concerts with repertoire spanning nearly two centuries.

The ensemble has also performed many collaborative performances with faculty solo artists and were praised in Fanfare Magazine for their f ine accompaniment work on the MSR Classics release of Andrew Stetson’s solo album, “Rise Above.” Further recognition came through their selection by jury to perform at the 2016 CBDNA Southwestern Division Conference in Boulder, Colorado, and the 2020 CBDNA Southwestern Divisional Conference in Norman, Oklahoma.

Allen holds Bachelor and Master of Music Education degrees f rom Florida State University and a Doctor of Musical Arts in Conducting f rom the University of Minnesota.

Amy Owens Amy Owens is known for her “high-flying vocals” on operatic and symphonic stages, as well as her innovative, multi-disciplinary pursuits in music and entrepreneurship (Opera News). She has performed at beloved venues from Carnegie Hall to the Kennedy Center with the National Symphony Orchestra, where her Fall 2019 debut as the soprano soloist in “Carmina Burana” under the baton of Gianandrea Noseda earned praise for “a perfect combination of purring, sensuous phrasing and pure-toned innocence” (Washington Classical Review). Her operatic engagements include Santa Fe Opera, Houston Grand Opera, Dallas Opera, and Chicago Opera Theater. She has produced original music, performed at the world-renowned Jazz Festival in New Orleans, studied conducting at the Hart Institute of Dallas Opera, and developed new vocal training approaches through her program Vocal Revolution. She has received awards from the Sullivan Foundation, the George London Foundation, the Jensen Foundation, and the Metropolitan Opera National Council.

Quinn Patrick Ankrum Mezzo soprano Quinn Patrick Ankrum has performed a wide variety of repertoire spanning the centuries, in a multitude of venues throughout the United States and abroad. Favorite roles include Rosina “Il barbiere di Siviglia,” Cenerentola “La Cenerentola,” Zerlina “Le nozze di Figaro,” Meg “Adamo’s Little Women,” and Maddalena “Rigoletto.” Equally at home on the concert stage, favorite works include Bach’s “Mass in b minor,” Mozart’s “Mass in c minor,” Mahler’s “Lieder eines fahrenden Gesellen,” and Handel’s “Messiah.”

Ankrum received her training at Trinity University (San Antonio), the University of Colorado at Boulder, and the Eastman School of Music, and was a Young Artist in the Glimmerglass Opera Young American Artists Program and the Baltimore Opera Studio. She was a Finalist and Winner in numerous regional and national competitions, including the Metropolitan Opera National Council auditions (Rocky Mountain Region) and the National Association of Teachers of Singing Artist Awards (NATSAA) competition. She has served on the faculties of SUNY Fredonia (New York), Nazareth College (Rochester, NY), and Texas Tech University (Lubbock).

She joined the faculty of the University of Cincinnati, College-Conservatory of Music in 2017 as Assistant Professor of Voice, where she maintains a studio of undergraduate and graduate students studying both Classical and Musical Theatre voice.

Eric Rieger American tenor Eric Rieger enjoys an international career that has led him to the opera companies of Zürich, Luzern, Basel, Trier, Regensburg, Kaiserslautern, Bremerhaven, Osnabrück, Nordhausen, Konstanz, Novara, Treviso, as well as Zomeropera Alden Biesen in Belgium, Edinburgh Festival Theatre, Citizens Theatre in Scotland, and Everyman Palace Theatre in Ireland. Equally at home on the concert platform, Dr. Rieger has been featured at the Claudio Monteverdi Festival in Italy, the Royal Opera House at Covent Garden, the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, the Kimmel Center in Philadelphia, and Carnegie Hall. He has appeared with many notable orchestras including the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, the Basel Sinfonietta, St. John’s Orchestra (London), the Luxembourg Chamber Orchestra “Les Musiciens,” the Trier Philharmonic Orchestra, the Symphony Orchestras of Harrisburg and Lubbock, and the Philadelphia Youth Orchestra. A passionate recitalist, Dr. Rieger has performed an eclectic repertoire of art song with the Boston Art Song Society, Lyric Fest in Philadelphia, Market Square Concerts in Harrisburg, St. John’s Smith Square in London, and many other venues across the U.S. and Europe. His solo debut album “Poet’s Journey: Song Cycles of Benjamin Britten” is available on the Affetto/ Naxos record label, and he is featured on the Naxos International recording “James Whitbourn: Carolae” with the Grammy nominated Westminster Williamson Voices. In addition to his performance career, Dr. Rieger serves as Assistant Professor of Voice at Florida State University. Dr. Rieger is a graduate of the Eastman School of Music (DMA & BM with distinction) and the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland (MM).

GERALD DOLTER Professor of Voice and Director of TTU Opera Theatre – Texas Tech University Gerald Dolter joined the voice faculty at the Texas Tech School of Music in the fall of 1995. He became the Director of TTU Opera Theatre in 1998. Dolter began his professional singing career in the opera houses and concert halls of the United States and Europe. Opern Welt magazine has described his performances as “radiant,” by the Frankfurter Rundschau as “powerful baritonal presence,” and

by England’s Opera magazine as “electrifying.”

His operatic credits include appearances with the Pittsburgh, New Jersey State, Tulsa, St. Louis, Cincinnati, and Arizona opera companies, as well as the opera companies of Frankfurt, Mannheim, Hamburg, Karlsruhe, Düsseldorf, Gelsenkirchen, Krefeld, and Montpellier. From 1985 – 1991, Dolter was the leading baritone with Germany’s Bremen Opera. His repertoire there included such diverse characterizations as Germont in “La Traviata,” Escamillo in “Carmen,” and Nick Shadow in “The Rake’s Progress.” His operatic repertoire includes more than 87 characterizations and 40 leading roles in musical theatre. He was a National Winner in the Metropolitan Opera Auditions in 1984 and is now a frequent adjudicator for that competition.

Gerald Dolter’s created the musical theatre production company, Lubbock Moonlight Musicals, in 2006. The company has produced many, grandscale musicals in the outdoor setting of Lubbock’s Moonlight Musicals Amphitheatre.
