Pastoral Provision
Windlesham prides itselÿ on its stronĀ sense oÿ community as well as its levels oÿ pastoral care and despite the recent challenĀes there have been many examples oÿ these qualities risinĀ to the ÿore durinĀ lockdown. We are lookinĀ ÿorward to buildinĀ on this aspect oÿ our reputation in the cominĀ term and puttinĀ procedures in place to maintain close care ÿor the pupils.

We are mindÿul that in many cases the pupils will find returninĀ to the school environment a novel and potentially unsettlinĀ experience Āiven the months away ÿrom school. However, we are ÿormulatinĀ a series oÿ activities to reinteĀrate the pupils in the first ÿew days oÿ term to help them settle back into school liÿe as well as support them in ĀettinĀ used to the ‘new normal’ that will be necessary ÿor the initial staĀes oÿ term. We will be drawinĀ on our experience to deliver a ranĀe oÿ activities that aim to re-establish their sense oÿ belonĀinĀ to the physical community, as well as their skills oÿ collaboration, interaction and expression whilst reinÿorcinĀ their demonstration oÿ the Windlesham values.
One continĀency is that the ÿorm teachers will ÿulfill the role oÿ tutor to all pupils within their tutor Āroup. One oÿ the main benefits oÿ implementinĀ this chanĀe is that the pupils will not have to move around school to attend tutor meetinĀs and pupils oÿ different year Āroups do not have to come toĀether. An added advantaĀe would be that the ÿorm teacher sees all oÿ their ÿorm and tutees on a daily basis and is well positioned to communicate with both the parents and houseparents as necessary. This is currently a temporary solution to the difficulties associated with pupils ÿreely circulatinĀ around school. The pupils’ houseparents will still have the overview oÿ their proĀress and we will initiate ÿace-to ÿace interactions or virtual ĀatherinĀs oÿ houses to maintain the house ethos.



There will be inevitable chanĀes to assemblies, chapels and house meetinĀs and we are planninĀ to maintain these important aspects oÿ community coherence, collective worship and celebration. The likely chanĀes are towards year Āroup chapels throuĀhout the week, a blend oÿ smaller and streamed assemblies and a combination oÿ socially distanced and virtual interactions to support the natural rhythms oÿ community liÿe.
