July 2017 Newsletter

From the 126th Infantry Regiment The Iron Battalion is increasing its proficiency and lethality as Annual Training approaches. The Battalion has quickly grown in both strength and in increased squad battle drill proficiency. The Iron Battalion conducted Squad Live Fire Exercises in June and July, setting the conditions for Exercise Northern Strike 17 during Annual Training in August. During Northern Strike 17, the Battalion will work with 1-125 Infantry, the Princess of Wales’s Royal Rifle Regiment from the UK, the Danish Home Guard, the Latvian National Guard, and a Polish Airborne platoon in a series of complex live fire exercises that includes indirect fire and close air support from F16s, A-10s and attack helicopters.

Secretary-Treasurer Report

Soldiers from A Company 3-126 Infantry Battalion conduct air movements in and out of live-fire exercises in June 2017 at Camp Grayling Michigan.

The Battalion is also preparing to celebrate the centennial anniversary of its mobilization in support of WWI as part of the 32nd Infantry Division. ‘Les Terribles’, as the division was known, was the first to pierce the Hindenburg Line and occupy Germany. It’s fitting that the 32nd Infantry Brigade Combat Team is reunited with all of its battalions under the Red Arrow patch on the eve of this momentous occasion. It seems only fitting that the Iron Battalion is celebrating by conducting its first live-fire exercise as an Infantry Battalion since reconsolidation last year.
