Letter from the National President

Dear Sisters and Members of Lambda Theta Alpha,

I hope this letter finds you all in good spirits and high energy as we celebrate another successful year together. It’s with immense pride and excitement that I share our Annual Report, reflecting on the past year’s achievements and our ongoing commitment to our strategic plan with our pillars of Sisterhood, Development and Sustainability

This year, we were able to reactivate twelve chapters (8 undergraduate, 4 alumnae) and celebrated our ten thousandth member! We introduced a range of new programs designed to enhance your skills, foster leadership, and support your individual goals Workshops on financial literacy, conflict management, and personal wellness have been incredibly well-received, and it is heartening to witness so many of you embracing these opportunities with enthusiasm and dedication

At the heart of everything we do is our unwavering commitment to sisterhood. This year, we have worked diligently to strengthen the bonds between us, ensuring that every member feels valued, supported, and empowered Our events, both big and small, have fostered a deeper sense of connection and unity within our sorority. From mentorship programs to community service projects, the spirit of sisterhood has been a guiding light, helping us navigate challenges and celebrate our successes together

As we reflect on the past year and look forward to the future, I want to express my deepest gratitude to each of you. Your dedication, passion, and commitment to our shared values are what make our sorority truly exceptional Let us continue to innovate, empower, and support one another as we move forward, always striving to create a positive impact within our community and beyond.

Philanthropy & Service

Lambda Theta Alpha Foundation

The Lambda Theta Alpha Foundation (LTA Foundation) was created as a separate entity from the sorority as a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization to respond to the growing need for additional financial support in our communities In 2023-2024, members of Lambda Theta Alpha raised $31,080 while supporting the following campaigns:

Annual Scholarship Campaign

Scholarships are provided for students pursuing education at the undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral levels and who demonstrate commitment to advancing their community

1975 Annual Run: Bridge to Brighter Futures

The sixth annual marquee event supports the continued elevating of the Foundation’s work and engagement of local communities from across the country in a single event

St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital

Lambda Theta Alpha celebrated 13 years in partnership with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at the St. Jude Walk/Run event. This signature event brings communities together nationwide during Childhood Cancer Awareness Month to raise funds for the hospital. With more than 80 registered teams nationwide, Lambda Theta Alpha met and exceeded its annual goal, raising $30,062.

In addition, LTA participated in a multi-market team blitz week and held various rallies among members to encourage participation and share updates from St. Jude.

LTA Voice

Lambda Hill Days

On April 2024, Lambda Theta Alpha hosted its eighth annual Lambda Hill Days. Cohort members traveled from across the U.S. to meet in Washington D.C. to meet in person with elected officials. The National Political Education Initiative Committee provided resources for the 22 cohort members to contact their representatives and schedule meetings to speak about Women’s Reproductive Health, Student Debt Relief, Artificial Intelligence, and more! National Voter Registration Day

Lambda Theta Alpha joined thousands of organizations nationwide in the mass celebration of National Voter Registration Day on September 19, 2023, to register voters. A total of 22 chapters participated in the National Voter Registration Day initiative, connecting with their local communities and campuses to register people to vote in person and virtually. I Stand With Immigrants Day of Action

Lambda Theta Alpha joined over 200 organizations across the nation for the 8th annual I Stand With Immigrants Day of Action on October 25, 2023. With 41 chapters and areas actively engaged in events across campuses and communities nationwide, the membership comprised one of the largest contingents on this Day of Action Read the full press release here

National Initiatives

Sexual Assault Awareness Month

Lambda Theta Alpha Latin Sorority, Inc, in collaboration with prominent sororities, including Corazones Unidos Siempre/Chi Upsilon Sigma National Latin Sorority, Incorporated, Latinas Promoviendo Comunidad/Lambda Pi Chi Sorority, Inc., Kappa Delta Chi, Sigma Lambda Gamma, and Hermandad de Sigma Iota Alpha, Incorporada, has successfully concluded a month-long series of events and initiatives during Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM) 2024. Themed "Voces Unidas Cultivating Community" (United Voices Cultivating Community), the campaign has set a benchmark in raising awareness and fostering community resilience against sexual assault, particularly within Latinx communities

Throughout April, the partnering organizations engaged communities across the nation in a comprehensive slate of programming designed to educate, empower, and connect individuals. The initiative aimed to break the silence around sexual violence in Latinx communities, where such discussions are often considered taboo. Read the full press release here.

Financial Literacy Month

The National Finance Committee hosts an annual series of virtual workshops to education members during April’s National Financial Literacy Month observation. In 2024, topics included Investing 101 and Post Graduate Finances. The program was presented by members who are finance professionals and provided tools and resources throughout the month to support the ongoing education of financial literacy.

Training & Development

Lambda Ladies as Empowered Advocates for Diversity

Lambda Ladies as Empowered Advocates for Diversity (LLEAD) Certification Program was developed to further enhance our members’ leadership skills related to cultural sensitivity, diversity, and inclusion. Hosted by the National Leadership Development and Standards Committee, the 11 graduates attended weekly sessions over five-months on topics such as intersectionality, social change, brave spaces, and inherent bias.

National Hazing Prevention Training

National hazing prevention training was provided by the Prevent Zone platform, a leader in prevention training. One representative from each constituency was required to complete the Hazing Prevention 101: Fraternity & Sorority Edition training. Members who completed the training shared the information learned with workshops at the local level.

Leadership Summit

Kicking off the sorority year, Regional Officers attend an in-person Leadership Summit. In 2023, leaders convened in Baltimore, MD, ahead of the National Convention for crosstraining and planning time together

Regional Leadership Conferences

Hosted at the regional level, these leadership conferences support the training and development of our Area Officers on sorority operations, best practices, and planning for the upcoming year.

Leadership Roundtables

Roundtables are held throughout the year and focus on sorority leadership training topics, including recruitment, leadership wellness, governance, and diversity, equity, and inclusion. They are open to all levels of sorority leadership
