Meet Julio Romero, a rising Lakehawk producer with a passion for creativity and storytelling through digital media. Focused and driven, Julio embraces innovation and hands-on experience to help shape the future of entertainment. Here’s a closer look at his goals, work, skills, and creative journey.
His Goal
To become a dynamic producer with a focus on creating
innovative, interactive video experiences.
His Work
Since 2023, Julio has worked with Gabriel Photobook, a local production company where he serves as both a camera operator and project editor. In this role, he films and edits high-quality ceremony videos for a variety of clients—capturing everything from weddings and engagements to birthdays, maternity sessions, and other special moments.
His Skills
As a work-study student with LSSC’s production studio crew, Julio plays an active role in real-world projects on campus. He also serves as director of photography for two upcoming LSSC Film Club short films— Newlyweds, a romantic thriller, and Convenience, a comedydrama—both set to premiere in 2026. Drawing from his industry experience, he brings a creative, cinematic eye that helps elevate each film’s visual storytelling.

His Story
“Having prior experience has helped open doors for me quickly. For instance, I was invited to participate in the Digital Media program’s commercial, and that was an amazing opportunity to apply my skills in a more professional setting. I’ve been able to put what I’ve learned into practice— not only in my job, but in every production I’ve been part of here. It’s helped me grow my portfolio and gain the experience needed to understand what it truly takes to bring ideas to life. It’s made me a more complete cinematographer.”

At the Central Florida Film Festival, Julio worked as a videographer under the mentorship of Emmy Award winner Prof. Andrew Hernández, Director of the Digital Media Program at Lake-Sumter State College.
