How De La Salle Schools Were Developed

How it started

In 1679 at the door of the Chapel of Monastery of the sisters of the Holy Child Jesus he met Adrian Nyel who helped him establish free school for boys in Rheims. The schools developed by De la Salle experienced lawsuits. He then gathered them at Vaugirard a place for retreat for both him and his teachers. He spent 3 years on Parmenie contemplating about his faith-journey. The schools established by De La Salle increased even though he was not present in the institute.

When he retired he spent his days helping his brothers by doing household chores and serving them. His faculties as a priest were removed by the Archbishop 3 days before he died . After he died, he was canonized as a saint on May 24, 1900, and was declared as patron of all teachers.
